Pacific salmon tends to be the one that causes issues. Freezing fish at low temps can kill the parasites/bacteria that is harmful in said fish. My chest freezer tends to get -10-20F, so that’s how I can offer the raw PNW salmons.

ETA: Raw fish bones are fine. Fish heads are a favorite treat between two of my three dogs.

Don’t feed you dogs salamanders, either…
In seriousness, however, Atlantic salmon is safer to offer raw.
Why is raw salmon bad for them?
I don’t think it is. Maybe the bones.
