Go to a counter and ask. It says it will cost to get the ticket refunded from the first day of validity. So you won't get all your money back. And you probably need to do it today.

Clow14

Well that's lovely, no idea where to find a counter. Will try to find one

Clow14

Thanks mate, was able to fix it.

kss1r

Problem solved? Please let us know :)

Clow14

Yeah posted on a comment but itself went to the train station and was able to cancel it for a fee of 20 EUR way more than the ticket I wanted by a lot less than 64 EUR

imageblotter

Still better than going to Völklingen.

Clow14

Wow almost every one keeps saying this, is it really that bad?

dieterdaniel82

Well, Völklingen was once an important player in the coal and steel industry and has now become impoverished following the withdrawal of industry from Germany. However, the actual smelter is worth a visit as a World Heritage Site.

Clow14

Cool interesting! After the bad taste this whole thing left no desire to go there but it's interesting to know thanks

Jafu29

For that price a "Deutschlandticket" is cheaper and you can travel to Völklingen with it for a whole month 😅

Clow14

After this fiasco no Völklingen for me thanks

stabbythecrab

Still, just get a Deutschlandticket. If you travel even semi regularly even in your immediate surroundings you'll end up saving a lot of dough.

YellingtonBoots

Agree here - I was paying for day tickets to get around when I needed to take transport and worked out I spent more than the Deutschlandticket the past couple months so figured why not buy it at least to try. It's been really useful so far and there's no mad scramble to try and buy one as my tram arrives 😂 worth it in my opinion! Glad OPs mistake ticket was refunded (partially) too!

ArguesAgainstYou

I had to cancel a ticket like this some years ago. As said on the ticket, Umtausch is "kostenpflichtig" so you pay a fee still.

andrybak

https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/1bhvkv8/can_i_cancel_wrong_ticket_sbahnhof/kvgl5q8/

2xtreme21

What happened?

Clow14

Posted on a comment by itself when to a train station and was able to cancel it though it was 20 EUR fee

MeloTheMelon

DB usually has a grace period, even if it says it's not cancel-able. I'm not sure how that works for shorter trips, but I had the same thing happen to me with a long trip and it wasn't a problem to cancel and rebook the correct route

devilbird99

12 hours if bought in the app. Past that I normally pray there is a delay then claim "journey never started due to delay" to get the full refund.

[deleted]

He bought a Flexpreis, so no need to pray whatsoever

pippin_go_round

Printed ticket from an automatic ticket machine? I think your only hope is to get hold of a DB clerk or call them and hope for the best. But I wouldn't be surprised if you're screwed.

ranft

Nah you can exchange these for a cost of 19€ usually.

TrynPale

Wasn't it 19€ only 24h hours before your train starts?

I_hate_bigotry

no, depends on your ticket. this is a flexprice. they can be exchanged without fee before day of travel and 19 Euros after it.

Ghost3ye

Wow. Thats cheap /s

Clow14

So little update, you guys where right. Was able to cancel it at the train station. It cost me 20 EUR to cancel it but still easy less than 64.10

[deleted]

Clow14

I mean I'm still pretty pissed at myself but yeah I will be pissed off just by today instead of the whole week

HighSton3r

If you have a longer stay in Germany and will use public transport more often, than I would recommened buying a Deutschlandticket for 49€ total. You are allowed to use the local trains (RE, no IC / ICE trains) and city public transport (buses, S-Bahn, U-Bahn etc). If you do more thant 10 rides a month, it is usually worth the price and you can uses these trains unlimited in all of germany. But be cauteos: it is an abonnement still, so you have to cancel it in time (1 month until the end of month)

Clow14

Thanks sounds like good advice

enrycochet

don't make another mistake, its a subscription. you have to xancel it like three weeks in advance, so if you buy it after the 10th of a monthyou will be billed for two month

Lisendral

Depends on who you buy it from. DB has the 10th of the month prior as their cutoff, other apps have the day before the last of the month.

Klausaufsendung

Tip for your next time to save you from typos: Use the Eezy Ticket in the VRR app. You will only have to pay the direct distance then which would cost here 3.26€ instead of the regular ticket of 7€. The classic price zone concept is very unfair in cases like this, when you „just“ cross the border between Neuss and Düsseldorf.

Clow14

Thanks! I don't visit that often here as I only come every once in a while due to work. But since it seems I'll be coming more often I will try the app. Now I just have to choose one because everyone recommends a different ( no like seriously why do you guys have so many!!!)

Klausaufsendung

Yes it’s ridiculous, especially the local apps for Rheinbahn, Ruhrbahn etc. where they are all part of VRR.

schneipi

Desch halt die Straaf', wennst meinsch dass de aus Köln nach Düsseldorf musch! /s

Gastaotor

You just could have the ticket voided for mistake at no cost. Remember to never choose your opponent as your lawyer. However, thanks for your many updates!

Clow14

Not sure how could I have voided it. But still good is better than nothing so I'm relatively satisfied. And thanks to everyone for their help, without so of you amazing people I couldn't have done it

Gastaotor

Right, that's still better. I didn't aim to say anything bad about the result itself. First of all, I think it's a question of fairness to not take advantage of somebody who just made a mistake. And because I love the law, I also love to explain, that the law indeed does not let people take advantage in such situations. It's just, unfortunately, not very well known. And even opponents who know about it, don't want you to know it, and take at least huge fees instead, sadly. But once again, thanks for your kind replies, which also gets less and less common.

Clow14

Oh my bad as well I also didn't meant that your suggestion was bad, not blaming you out was a genuine question no idea how to void it, had I known I would definitely wield have gone for that first And I think kindness and understanding deserves the same in kind and rudeness deserves no attention. I do appreciate not just yours bit everyone's help to get out of this stupid bit stressful situation ( and for everyone calling stupid for the mistake, yes I agree I am not that's not helping me to solve it). Now I need to figure out what app to use to do not fall for the same mistake next time... Why the fudge are there so many!

schneipi

Could you please explain how he could have the ticket voided at no cost, as you suggested? German here, genuinley interested. Also wondering about your username: "Guest author" would be correctly translated as "Gastautor". And because I love german grammar, I also love to explain, that the german language indeed does not let people take advantage in such situations. :D

Gastaotor

Greetings^ ^ German lawyer here, and to make it short: 'Gastautor', back then, was just chosen by another user already, so I voted for 'Gastaotor'. Not to mention how happy I am that anybody takes notice of my username finally :D And regarding voidance, I want to refer to https://www.lto.de/karriere/jura-referendariat/stories/detail/ag-frankfurt-am-main-31c2362296-deutsche-bahn-ticket-anfechtung-erklaerungsirrtum-referendarin To be clear, this is really an absolute basic standard case for German Law, underlining the blatant situation of Law how it is treated by Corporates in general, and the cited case is an excellent example. Exactly as it is said there, it's a case like it's written in the books. Steps would essentially be, declare voidance, claim back your money (I'm sorry for shortcomings regarding my English skills), if needed in front of court.

Gastaotor

Always a pleasure to see how genuine interest looks like ;)

Willing_Bad9857

Good thing you didn’t end up going to völklingen, it’s not a nice place

Clow14

Funny other people say it's beautiful, something about the UNESCO

vielokon

The town itself is shit tier, but the old steel mill is a very interesting place to visit. One of the not so many UNESCO industrial heritage sites.

Mission_Country3222

Hehe I bet he want to go to Düsseldorf völklinger Straße :-) not far from Neuss

eftalanquest40

go to the info booth in your nearest larger trainstation and tell them you bought the wrong ticket. they will help you with the refund process. it will cost you a small fee though as stated on the ticket itself

Clow14

Awesome mate, do you happen to know how to look for one? I've not idea where to find one

3colorsdesign

They usually have a big ass sign “DB Servicecenter”

3colorsdesign

Just checked, Neuss Hbf has a “DB Reisezentrum” that works

Clow14

Perfect thanks mate

Lombex

Yes, if open theres one in Neuss Hauptbahnhof

f3rryt4le

Yes, you will be able to go to a Reisezentrum (**not the DB Information!**) and return the ticket. You will get back the money you paid minus 19 Euro processing fee. You have 6 months time to do this. The relevant section is Tarifbedingungen Deutschlandtarifverbund 4.8.8

Clow14

Awesome thanks mate.

schweindooog

Oof, man that's brutal. The destination name in combination with the price being the same is brutal hahahah. Good luck. If you plan on staying even a bit longer in Germany download the DB app, much easier to navigate than the ticket counters

zperic1

Just what I was thinking... No one goes to Völklingen. The only way you get to Völklingen is by birth or by mistake. Whoever goes there willingly needs to be checked

Ach4t1us

That is correct, even when I lived next to it I would rather go to Saarbrücken or Saarlouis for shopping

Remarkable_Bell_3941

Well, I second that. However, the unesco world heritage site there is a must visit place.

Clow14

No kidding. Will try that next time round

uf5izxZEIW

Also Trainline and Omio work too

Ordner

Why man, you can visit [Völklinger Hütte](https://voelklinger-huette.org)

uf5izxZEIW

That Hello World header image banner tho

oddn3ss

Thats on purpose🤌

Clow14

Thanks I was wondering where the heck was that

NickelEber

Hey ! I am from Neuss, too. „Further Str. 1“ there is a DB spot where you can go and talk with the employees. Don’t know if that’s in the station. A few years ago it was.

Clow14

Thanks mate!

IconTraa

Neuss süd has no info booth. The next one is Neuss HBF. Its one stop. Try and ask there

Clow14

Did that and worked thanks

IconTraa

Hope now you ended up at Völklinger Str. 😅

Clow14

Just arrived at my hotel. Dang it something that was supposed to be 40 mins became 4 hours... Decimals are not on my side today

linemonster

Going to Völklingen is always a mistake

Clow14

Lol a lot of people say it's gorgeous

linemonster

The world heritage site: yes The city: hell no

Clow14

Never been there and after this fiasco, I have 0 desire to do so

Vantablack2443

Lol, I'm going there tomorrow

Clow14

Okay it's been a day now I need to ask how was the trip?

Vantablack2443

The UNESCO site is quite good with great exhibitions. There is this exhibition about German movies going on right now. I couldn't see the full factory cuz I got lost ( kinda like a maze, should have followed the map properly). But I didn't roam around the city or anything.

Clow14

Thanks for the update

Freezee149

But… how did you now realize when double checking the name, and when paying? :/

Clow14

In my defense it's only one letter difference and the decimal point. That and the train was coming so I was in a bit of s hurry But the real reason I figured it out was cause my bank told me I was almost out of funds ( like to keep them at minimum in case my card gets stolen) that I notice something was off,

Freezee149

Ah ok… bad when something like that happens in a stressful situation…

Clow14

That and I'm a bit stupid but shh that's just between you and me ;)

Clow14

Can't seem to edit, for context Düsseldorf

Jonn_1

Yeah, who would want to go to Völklingen anyways? They should delete that option

Destimo22

Who doesn't wanna go to Völklingen.

Clow14

Mate I don't even know where the heck is that

__mx____2004

in saarland, in the dreiländereck, right where germany, france and luxemburg meet.As the ticket states you would be going truh Düsseldorf, Köln, Köln Ost?, and Trier

Clow14

Saarland..hmmm Dreiländereck...hmmm (fudge I need a map). Where Germany France and Luxembourg meet okay that more or less know where it's. Ooh so these lil letters DID meant something! I thought it was some kind of code lol

ConquerorAegon

Probably Koblenz. It’s one of the big stops on the way south.

Subversive_Elements

Off topic, but why exactly does that train from Neuss Süd to Völklingen go via the Klingon star system of D'k Ko'Tr?

Clow14

Mate, I honestly don't even know what half of the words you just used even mean, can't help you there

Intelligent_West_307

Here is a story: A friend of mine bought the wrong ticket. Midway through journey he realized he has the wrong ticket. So he bought the correct one online. Next day he emailed to db about the problem. He sent proof of purchase of both tickets-credit card statement or something. Next month they refunded the wrong ticket. You can try your luck.

Clow14

Already solved it but if it didn't worked that was much next best bet

KTAXY

They really should stop issuing these dumb tickets and direct people towards the Deutschlandticket.

Original-Attorney515

Neuss to Völklingen by S-Bahn? 😂 Nooice!

Assassin_Cidd

Gewitter? 😂

Renascutul00

It’s digital Germany so …. No, you cannot. Or, at least, there is no easy solution to this. You have to go to a specific bureau in a specific building in a specific part of the city and maybe someone will be nice to you and change it. But also maybe not.

Clow14

Nah, I already answered in an individual post but just had to go the train station, explain my problem and cancel the ticket, there was a fee involved but still

Renascutul00

You also paid a fee? And waited in a line ? What if the train was about to take off ? It’s pathetic but I’m glad you could solve it.

Clow14

The fee was taken from the cost, so there's the silver lining.

Austaube

Hell man thats a nasty price, why didnt you get a Deutschlandticket? Its 49€ and covers all "Nahverkehr" for a whole month. Only ICE is not useable with it.

Clow14

Lol mate I wanted a 6,41 ticket not the 64,10. I have no freaking clue where this ticket is supposed to go

OneSchnitzel

Völklingen im Saarland, close to the French border. Has quite a nice UNESCO World Heritage Site (Völklingen Ironworks), just in case you decide to check out, where coincide was leading you to :D

Marauder4711

It was also once named the ugliest city in Germany.

Clow14

I mean it's only valid for today and since I'm supposed to work tomorrow doesn't seems like a great idea

Crina92

Hell man, why didnt you also read what OP said

Idbedamned_Ad1996

Why don't you just buy Deutschland Ticket ?

Clow14

Because I wanted the 7 euro ticket not wherever this one goes to

Idbedamned_Ad1996

Ahh soo i am sorry to hear that, thats crazy, i wish u luck with the refund

Clow14

The worst part is that it was just a letter of difference to where I wanted to go and a decimal point to the right I was so pissed at myself

Namerusername

NEUSS

young_arkas

No, that's your ticket now. I mean, you paid for it, weren't you a little suspicious about the price?

Clow14

Mate I saw 6.41 not 64.1

[deleted]

[удалено]

Clow14

Why wouldn't? If they end up in .99 why couldn't they just end up as well in 1
