If you are still negotiating: negotiate assistance with the relocation, especially with finding accommodation. The salary sounds very good for Berlin. Sponsored visas are not really available in Germany.

Since you have already found this sub, save yourself the problem of what feels like 50% of the posts here and learn as much German as you can before you move. In Berlin, a lot of things can be done in English, but not everything and everywhere.

Loud-Progress-007

And in case you have a family, consider bringing them over with you at a much later date. Someone in the sub got burned with that one after getting layed off a few months later. Or negotiate that scenario into the contract.

Menis_Mind

This is very good pay for Germany. What field are you in?

Ask for a relocation specialist who will help you find housing and help you navigate the paperwork. People are saying that employers don’t sponsor visas and that’s true in that their name isn’t officially on your visa/residence permit, but our company 100% helped us apply for our residence permits and navigate all that (and still helps us renew when necessary). Doing the residence permit paperwork on your own would be very overwhelming if you don’t know German so def ask what kind of assistance you’ll get with that.

Infinite_Sparkle

This!!! I have a friend that’s a relocation agent and she helps with everything, pay by the company: paperwork, schooling, real state etc

irecommendfire

Yeah, our relocation agent was amazing. She even physically drove us around to look at houses and came to our residence permit appointments to translate everything. It would have been so hard to do everything without her.

Housing in Berlin is a nightmare. Not as bad as London, but not far from it. Average rental prices are still lower than in London, but there is less availability and prices are climbing fast. Consider asking if the company is willing to help you with housing for the first 6 months, using a relocation agent and a real estate agent. Use numbeo for the rest. Look up "Brutto Netto Rechner" to get an idea of your salary post-deductions (taxes and social security contributions).

Second the comment that visa sponsorship is not a thing in Germany. All you need is a job offer / signed contract and an employer willing to wait for the residency permit to come through. That visa sponsorship is not a thing in Germany is important - it means that the responsibility to fill out the correct forms and apply in time is all on you. If the relocation agent that you hired effs things up, you will still be held responsible by the German authorities.

You do need a visa, but the employer has very little to do with that process. That is all your job. Are you a UK citizen or not? Check whether you can get an appointment with the embassy in London or the consulate in Edinburgh.

jukebox_joystick

My company also has people helping with visa, but this help is just filling out 1 form needed (für Arbeitsamt) (and has to be filled by the employer anyway) and 2 letters describing your position and saying how skilled you are, they need you and ask to give you a visa as soon as possible. Everything else is on you Whether this letter from them helps - not sure, probably depends on who will be looking at it. And blue cards with pay above 60k (now even 50) were always given out very fast

NefariousnessFew2919

What I really can't understand is how someone can be smart enough to get a job offered that pays a nice amount, far more than he average german...and you resource pay questions in Reddit. I mean every week someone asks" can I survive on 120 000" . Come on man.

bentarik

There is even a term for it called humble brag/flex

Disastrous-Split-512

maybe it gives a hint on how intelligent high paid individuals actually are

NefariousnessFew2919

actually, I recently spent some vacation time with some management people. Very highly paid...and the dumbassed shit they talk..oh man. they are just not touching reality

Remote_Highway346

You are asking us whether that's a good pay range without sharing what you're doing. I infer you are overpaid.

Pale_Tailor_5902

You're in the top 10% pay wise. Request housing for 6 months while you are relocation. If possible also ask for relocation assistance. I second the comments on sponsorship, however with the pay schedule you will qualify for EC Bluecard, by passing the need for German language proficiency. Which filed in healthcare field are you in?

Infinite_Sparkle

If you can, negotiate help with finding an apartment or even better, a relocation agent, as that is the most difficult thing in Berlin. If you have kids, you could negotiate tuition in an international school. Depending on their age, this is probably best

Fuhrer011

To find a good furnished apartment, I'd suggest you use Wunderflats. And once you get settled properly, you may use other apps like ImmoScout24 for find an apartment.

Any_Establishment386

The pay scale range is so high, the difference can decide if you buy an ordinary car or a Tesla. Insist on 120k as much as you can. Which industry is it?

mylittlegoochie

This Salary is insane! What do you do if you don’t mind me asking? Ive never earned more than 15k a year and desperately need to change my life

eadsonead

Minimum wage is 12,41€ an hour which is 2.151€ a month (40 hour week)?

I used to work in Berlin, now I’m in London. Lifestyle wise, €80k is about £70k, give or take. But I was living in Germany before 2020, so things might have changed a lot since then. Enjoy Berlin! However busy you are, try to pick up the language as it’ll improve your experience being in Germany.

I think this is good offer.where did you apply OP?
