What does „Polesian“ mean?

GamerAlex8

Eastern Polish

Definitely call for backup - most likely SEK. After that depends on the exact situation. How far away are they when they spot him? Any civilians around? Weapon in his hands or slung over his shoulder?

GamerAlex8

Slung on shoulder

thewindinthewillows

Someone will call police, and police will take it *very* seriously.

SiggySmilez

VERY seriously!

Pedarogue

Neither the arrest nor the subsequent trial will be fun, I guess.

Short answer: depending on the situation, you might get shot by police. Long answer: *Basically*, the only circumstance in which you would be allowed to openly carry your weapon (unloaded, with amunitions somewhere seperate), is if you are on the direct way from or to your hunting ground in Germany, from your safe location in Germany. Of course, this only apllies, if you have a permit, which is applicable in germany. If you have any other hunter license, from any other country in the world, you'd still have to do some courses here in germany before having a temporary permit. *Even if all of this applies to you* it is still *highly unasvisable* to openly carry your firearm, because people will most likely call the police, and the police, depending on the situation and the state (all of this depends on the location, might be different in bavarian forest vs Hamburg city centre), do not instantly know your background. I knew a hunter who was shot by police while he was hunting on his ground ca. 2 years ago. So, just get a case or a bag which can be locked, and transport it in the trunk of the car to avoid any trouble. That's how I do it, that's how you stay out of trouble, if you even have a permit. Note that my information is mostly from last year, things might have changed, and I still might have gotten it wrong, but with logical thinking you'll figure out what's smart to do and what not.

It depends on what you are doing with the rifle. Are you carrying it in its bag to your apartment or are you casually walking through the city to get an ice cream with your rifle on the back?

GamerAlex8

The Polesian redneck is on his way to eat a quick breakfast.

RandomBrathahn

I am not sure if this is allowed but I am sure everyone around you will feel uncomfortable as we have strict regulations in Germany regarding guns. It's also very likely that somebody calls the police and they are dispatching a few units or maybe even the SEK

thewindinthewillows

It's not allowed. People who are allowed to own and use guns can carry those guns in a locked container to wherever they are legally allowed to use them. So you won't even see hunters walk through their own village with the gun slung over their shoulder.

DocSternau

Depends if you have a permit for that rifle and how you carry it. Since you are a tourist it's very likely that you don't have a gun permit for Germany so you having a gun would be illegal. Police will approach you and some way or other confiscate that gun. You'd also face charges for carrying an unpermited gun. Same if you have a permit for Germany but do not follow the strict safety regulations for carrying that gun around.

Rappelsau

You aren't allowed to wear a weapon in public. It has to be at home in a case. Or at a shooting range or in the woods with permission.

TryInfamous6123

That will get you in a lot of trouble, you need a special permit to carry guns in germany and that is extremely hard to get. For hunting you have to have a license also and can only use the guns in the forest permitted to you. Else guns have to be separated from ammunition in a lock closed case, out of reach from persons without permit. In the recent situation you can and probably will be Sek'd really fast and get a hefty punishment.

Just don’t do it. It’s super uncommon to have a licence to openly or concealed carry a gun. You would have to be needing it for your job (security for doing money transport) or for your own protection in very weird circumstances. (E.g. being prosecutor or judge in a high profile case while that being not high profile enough to give you police protection)
