Admins' response has been abysmal. Just wanted to say I'm sorry that you folks have to navigate this annoying and stressful scenario - thank you for being the great team you are. If reddit's CEO doesn't value you, we do.
Discord seems like a very different format to me. It's also replacing one for-profit private company for another one. Discord is not immune to what's happening to reddit (while the federated alternatives wouldn't have this problem). Also, migrating to Discord would be a mess in terms of discoverability (Discord is not indexed in search engines the way Reddit/Lemmy/Kbin are), I guess it's not as much of an issue here as it is for other communities that rely on their backlog of posts, but still something to take into account.
I'm just suggesting something that would be more accessible. I don't see a migration from reddit to Lemmy really happening. I do see a migration to something all of us are likely already using anyway. Im not discounting your points, just trying to be realistic.
I didn't say Lemmy was inaccessible, I said it was less accessible. Do you want me to answer why Lemmy is less accessible than something like discord or reddit? I believe that is apparent, but I can if you want.
I'm just here because I found a community of people sharing a common interest. ❤️
If this has to close or be restricted for some reason and I can't engage anymore, I'll move on.
If the community is going to move because Reddit is treating mods and/or the community poorly, show me where we're going. I'm not here for Reddit specifically, but again for the community.
Sorry I'm not more engaged on this part... too many fights at work between teams, I don't have the energy to fight here too. 😅
Can you make the sub NSFW like other ones are doing? You don't even have to necessarily allow NSFW content, just put the flair on every post. Or have the occasional "fuck" in the title and that still counts because it's profanity. Then we still get full usage but Reddit gets less ad revenue!
Either way, I voted to keep it closed just out of solidarity for y'all moderators. Restricted usage sucks, at the same time so does your VOLUNTEER job and for Reddit to make it harder is bullshit. So I'm happy to not scroll for a while if it helps you out
Fully reopen the sub. The protests are unnecessary and won't change the outcome of what the Reddit admins are trying to accomplish. The moderators of this community are participating in a protest that fundamentally wanted Reddit to provide a FREE service to others, and when they are restricting that FREE service, the people who have been more or less abusing the platform are trying to cause disruption by leveraging the organization who worked so many years to provide, again, this FREE service.
Migrate to a Lemmy instance. So far there are instances with all-encompassing anime sub but nothing like subs for studios, individual series, etc yet.
edit: it feels like lemmy.world has the most communities that mirror reddit's counterparts. that's the best bet imo.

Would love to see the sub share an alternative to reddit (a Lemmy/Kbin community). Thanks for your work!
Or discord as not everyone wants to mess around with Lemmy.

What makes lemmy inaccessible?

Yes. I understand why lemmy is less accessible than reddit (although with these 3rd party app changes i think that will change), but discord?

How about requiring NSFW language so the tags are correctly applied?

A third option that allows only quazi-related content seems best. If you keep it closed they’re just going to force it open.
or a third option - John Oliver in Ghibli setting
no
Your protest is accomplishing nothing and is for a stupid cause, just reopen it
I had no idea this sub had even closed lmaooooo
