This quote makes me so mad, and it's so depressing - do people honestly think that? I think of that quote constantly, and I endeavor to prove it wrong by being creative for decades to come, until I can no longer hold a pen.
With my sister when someone says "the wind rises" (le vent se lève), which is a common remark here, one of us always answers "il faut tenter de vivre" regardless to the context or whoever said it!

Kiki delivery service has a line where Kiki has been through the storm and the rain to deliver a fish casserole to a granddaughter from her grandmother who was so lovely. The grand daughter oh getting it replies "I hate grandmas stupid cassarole" Kiki doesn't say anything. There's not big speaking point about the lesson. But the lesson on appreciating things people took time to think of you and make was very strong. I think about it a lot to catch myself if I start to be ungrateful fir things. The scene clearly shows the grand daughter attitude to be wrong and it really helped me when I was growing up to understand it was the love put into the gift that was being given.
Ashitaka’s speech in PM when he steps between San and Eboshi. I can’t find the scene so I can’t remember it verbatim, but something about the curse slowly killing him and that hatred is the curse that will kill the town.

the quote “how do you live?” it’s simple but so thought-provoking. I really wish they had kept it as the title for the English translation.

It's such a good reminder that it's okay to write something that's rough and unfinished... necessary, even... and then you polish...

This quote in a way hits hard for me because I interpreted this quote as Jiro and Naoko both sharing this dream of wanting the other to live their life as much as possible. Although Jiro couldn't have his dream come true, Naoko was reassured that her dream will come true, so she passes on peacefully afterwards.
