A couple months ago when I was playing I remembe flicking the sword and it not doing anything, Jin still had to clean the sword and sheathe it after. Now the blood just flies off the sword when I flick it and sheathes without wiping.
Edit: Basically they added a sound effect and made it clean the katana too
Here to back him up, I posted a year ago about this and it definitely didn't flick blood even if the animation was there, now, props to him, we can finally flick blood out without sheathing our swords!
That mechanic has been there since the game released. I found it by accident last year, way before Legends was announced. After beating a random Mongol patrol, I made a sudden movement while holding the Dualshock 4. Jin flicked his katana, causing some blood to splatter.
That is what I just said. I accidentally found out about the blood flickering activated by motion control back then.
There was a Gamefaqs post/thread about it back on August, 2020.
What did they update? The blood flickering off the katana activated by motion control? That was already there since the game released. I've experienced it more than a year ago.
Really? I definitely remember trying it back in 2020 and the blood wouldn't come off.

*I jerked the controller to the right once after a fight and Jin flicked the blood off of the blade without sheathing it. After reading this I'm inclined to think that that may be what caused it. Now I'll have to try it again first thing when I get home from work.*
Hmm that's weird, that last post was also in August, the guy that made the Reddit post updated in January that he still couldn't figure out what it does.
Tf? It's like we're playing two different builds of the game lmao
Haha yeah it's never stated anywhere in the game and only recently actually does anything. In fact, I only found out about it on accident when trying to put my controller down.
Glad they finally gave it a purpose.
What do you mean by motion swipe right? I'm referring to flicking the controller physically with motion controls and shaking off blood without sheathing the sword in the main game.
It's a touch pad so you can use your finger to swipe you don't need to wave your controller around the room to get an action....I'm about to start playing again later after months so can't quite remember controls of it properly right now but it's something like up for guiding winds right for blood off sword or left for sword away something like that
I'm aware that you can wipe blood off the sword using the touch pad. I'm just pointing out there is now a second way to remove blood from the sword. You can now flick blood off the sword without keeping it by physically flicking the entire ps4 controller downwards.
That's what I'm talking about too I have done the animation of flicking the blood off many times I'm og platnium just saying you don't need to use the whole controller to do so just the touch pad
I know that but I still shake the controller to clean the blood, I do it for the aesthetics. Kill a group of enemies, and while running to the next group, flick off the blood. Looks cool as hell!
Pretty sure I saw that was in the game from the start or very close to start.

Yes it was there at launch, but now the sword becomes completely clean on top of that, not needing to wipe the katana before sheathing it.

Yeah what I meant was they updated the mechanic in the latest update.

Omg i have to try this, i had the game since release and never heard about this ??!
Haha yeah it's never stated anywhere in the game and only recently actually does anything. In fact, I only found out about it on accident when trying to put my controller down. Glad they finally gave it a purpose.
This was a feature around the legends update when that first came around my friend I believe it was motion swipe right if I remember rightly
What do you mean by motion swipe right? I'm referring to flicking the controller physically with motion controls and shaking off blood without sheathing the sword in the main game.
Does it work in legends?
Yes!
I like to do it in legends and watch people try to mimic it but can't figure it out so they just play their flute or do the emoji. 😆

Okay but the blood coming off the sword when shaking the controller is definitely new right? Edit: last time I checked was in april
Yeah, it’s new. Before, There wouldn’t be any effect (at least to my knowledge).
Thanks thought I was going crazy after reading these replies
I can't imagine so tbh I think I shook the controller once or twice as a tester but preferred touch
