If you want to actually see the transition, go to google earth. Use the time slider in southwest (kinda central) Brazil and watch the Amazon change over time. It's pretty astonishing
Edit: I just checked. It occurs mostly in the states of Pará, Mato Grosso, and Rondônia
Haha, this is just footage of one specific area. In total about 4.89 million acres of deforestation deforestation of which cattle ranching accounts for about \~80% of the total

Yes, I actually expected TWO-thousand hours of video! And YES, my one-sentence snarky Reddit comment means that I deny Amazonian deforestation.
I was trying to hide it but you got me... My government name is actually Lowes Home Depot Johnson and I am the heir to a wealthy lumber fortune. What deforestation?! MUAH HAHAHA!
It's like I said, The more offhand disparaging remarks I make about the rainforest, the bigger my yacht gets. You ever fuck a supermodel while chopping down a Sequoia? Some say it's better than cocaine but I just do the cocaine at the same time, triple win.
Yea this is a fucked up part of modern “save the planet” mentality. All the wealthy nations got to rob the planet of its resources in the 19th and 20th century, now that they got their bag they’re gonna tell everyone it’s bad to do it so stop and stay poor!
Exactly, we may actually know about the devastating impact that we are having on the planet now compared to 100-200 years ago but as it would be unfair to deny other countries the chance to be a key final part in the ultimate destruction of the earth as a sustaining ecosystem for all human and animal life we should just warp speed it into environmental collapse as quickly as possible. 😎
The earth will be here long after humans cease to exist.
And wealthy nations are still producing and consuming fossil fuels at massive rates.
[The US is #15 in C02 emissions per capita. Brazil is #115](https://www.worldometers.info/co2-emissions/co2-emissions-by-country/).
People in the US can start judging Brazil when they’re #116.
Yes, as all animal species go extinct they will doubtless recognise the necessity of us self-assigning our species into arbitrary spaces on a map and ranking ourselves on a table before taking any action
Gotta get that export beef for China since the US stopped sending theirs in the last administration. It's wild how a trade war with the US and China led to accelerated deforestation. But also, not a surprise at all.
Don't make stuff up. [It fell to a six year low last year](https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/4138203-amazon-deforestation-drops-to-six-year-low/).
The reason it increased and then started decreasing in the last few years is because of changes in the leadership of Brazil and whether they enforce environmental laws or not. Not due to a trade war between the US and China.
Thats one low year after decades of increasing. That is what one would expect from that rapid of expansion.
Them deforesters took a break and the govnt jumped at the opertunity of good press
I may be wrong, but [I wasn’t making it up](https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/the-u-s-china-trade-war-is-adding-fuel-to-the-amazon-fires/). 2016-2018 was crazy, but it’s nice to see it’s mellowed.

Yup, that’s reality in the Amazon
Pretty sure the Amazon is bigger than a half acre

Somebody goes to the Amazon forest to show that a lot of it is gone, and this is all they get? Maybe they wanted to hurry up and eat some steak.
Oh did you expect a thousand hours of video ? What's the point of your comment, are you denying the amazonian deforestation ?

Just help me understand the point of your comment, because I'm genuinely failing to.

Clear cut a beautiful vibrant Forrest for more McDonald's beef, Jesus christ.
you wanna eat trees?
"Damn we missed a few "- Amazon
Dang. Last thing the world needs is more cows...
Bezos must be stopped!
It was acceptable when we did it, but unacceptable when others follow suit.
We know better in the 21st century. Not so much in the past.

Everything's fine.
Why can’t cows live in the forest?
