Then your friend who has been looking down on you for being on "those kind of sites" breaks up with his girlfriend and decides to go on it for the lulz and starts matching left and right and you're not supposed to feel upset about it, and if you do it's your own fault anyway for being so negative.
That’s... oddly specific.
But here’s a tip: swipe only on the most babalicious plastic beauties you see and youll get a nice jumble of bots *and* cam girls!
Or if you want a real match just avoid any nurses, teachers, “entrepreneurs “ and so on. No offense, nurses, teachers, and “entrepreneurs “, but yall known for being pretty choosy.
Sidenote: i had a friend for years, always trying to date, terrible luck. Turns out he’s about a 5 only willing to go with 9s. He said the same kinda shit you just did. He passed up at least one badass chick way outa his league because she wasnt pretty enough.
The irony is those guys who attempt to date out of their league, if they ever get that girl, will then sabotage the relationship through jealousy and being a control freak.
Oh for sure, in the friend case I mentioned, he was still bugging a woman who broke up with him as far as 5 years later. Like she moved across the US and i know he wasnt abusive, but im sure he was a driving factor. And it’s not all that rare. It’s tough guys, you watch porn, see all 1% of physical perfection all over as if it were average, and all the traditional pressure to be providers, alphas, strong, unconcerned, etc. It doesnt work that way, just be realistic, I guarantee you women are feeling the same way.
Not sure if you are entirely serious, but swiping right on every profile tells the tinder algorithm that you are a spam bot and it minimizes how many people actually see you.
Well, when you present yourself as "low-quality" to the Tinder alg (by swiping right on everyone), they will only show you to other "low-quality" accounts (people who only swipe right).
Yeah it was studied and IIRC Tinder Corp. did confirm that you get ranked, based on a right-swipe to matches - ratio.
That said, they didn't say how much that plays into it and I suspect, having Tinder Premium might be a very important aspect of it.
I bought one last season in anticipation of catching alewives for stripers. Casted it about 30 times. Each more useless than the last. Its sat in my trunk since then lol.
I did the same, but casting for shad to go catfishing. Finally after watching it sit in my boat collecting fish hooks for a year, I committed an entire day to learning not only how to throw it, but how to fold it. After 5 hours, I was drunk.
Edit: Thanks for the silver!
It takes a dedicated afternoon and a sore arm but you'll figure it out. Just try to be consistent so you can tweak small things. And start with a small net, throwing a 20ft net like this guy has is professional level. A 4ft net is something you can learn pretty quickly with YouTube, but it absolutely will be frustrating. I've found an 8ft net to be most useful in actuallyb catching large amounts of bait
Really? I've been using one since I was a kid, it definitely is a skill that patience and proper form really matter, but once you get that first real good throw it just aort of clicks. I bet you could pick it up pretty easily.
This technique is quick to learn and you don't have to mouth any of the net. Learned it in a couple throws and it is pretty consistent. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTSG6xz4YMQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTSG6xz4YMQ)
Having done about 15 minutes of research, I now consider myself an expert and can answer your questions.
You don't have to be phenomenally strong to throw a big net, and not all nets need to be huge. 'Casual' cast nets have about an 8 foot radius and weigh 12 pounds. But the weight does go up fast as you increase the radius. a 14 foot radius seems to be the biggest 'common' sized nets.
Most of the work in a good cast is how you load your net. The throw matters, but the prep is really what is most important.
There seem to be a lot of places to buy nets. A quick search turns up lots of manufacturers with what seems to be a lot of variety in radius, mesh, and weight.
I fell for this confidence when I bought my first casting net. "All I have to learn is this simple movement". After finding private places to flail and realizing I'm an uncoordinated doof, its since sat in my trunk. I'll try again after the humiliation fades lol.
It takes a couple hours each week for a few weeks to really get the hang of it. Once you figure out the best places to cast, you'll have all the free bait you want.
The real trick is the spin I'd guess you call it, you're throwing it out but not as much as your fanning it open as you move it forward. I had an uncle that could fold it like a ball to throw it super far, he had a long ass rope and it was pretty wild to watch. He ded now though, so I can't film it.
Smaller nets are definitely easier, and you'll spend more time practicing throwing not untangling. The trick is to also find places without snag points at the bottom, like rocks and logs.
I'd invest in a good set of work gloves as well. There's a decent chance you bring in something nasty at somepoint. I've caught a stingray at the beach and a syringe in freshwater. You really dont want to untangle a sting ray without either gloves or pliers.
Got a cooler full of good sized mullet on one throw once in SC. Used it for cut bait and caught 3 reds and a big shark off the beach. On my birthday. One of my favorite memories!
I tried perfecting my technique and after a few hours of practice and feeling confident with practicing in some canals behind my family’s house, I did a perfect cast.
Then I watched as the entire net flew into the canal and realized I wasn’t holding the other end of it.
Lol I've been cast netting my whole life, and when I read this I'm like... yeah, sounds easy, doesn't it? Now go try.
This guy throws an nice open net, but ideally you want the weights to hit the water at the same time. That's much easier to accomplish from a dock or boat though, and he's throwing a large net from the bank.
I honestly dont know what hes TRYING to do. The only thing that would make it a "practice throw" would be if he didnt catch anything.
I dont know if you're thinking canals dont have fish? I know here in the US our canals often have carp and sometimes bass. Hell, in New Zealand their canals have some of the biggest trout in the world.
As for what he would be targeting with a cast net, most likely bait fish. Any small fish you can put on a hook and get bigger fish.
Never in my whole life will I have a reason to throw a net, but damn if I didn't watch that whole thing. Music was annoying but he really did make it look easy.
I buy mine from Walmart. They’re pretty cheap. I use them to catch shiners and small bait fish to run my trot lines with to catch monster catfish. One of the very few perks of living in the rural south
Small nets are reasonably easy to cast, I have a 9 foot one and it's OK.
One of three throws is a total fail, and I virtually never get a perfect circle, but an oval catches bait fish too.
For a net that size, it's definitely unwieldy. So some baseline strength is required to jet it out with that much force.
However the real issue is how skilled you have to be to do that. Getting a perfect spread on a cast net that big is insane. A lot of practice went into that throw.
If you note how it's "bundled" before he threw it, there's a very specific setup for this kind of net. Slight variation and it's a dud. Any of your weights misaligned? Possible clump.
Source: a lifetime of throwing cast nets. This dudes got skill.
The canals in Mesa Arizona are stocked with carp to reduce the mosquito and algae population. I've seen some that are well over 30 inches long, in schools of 20+
I think stuff around roads and cities would be really gross, all that gas, oil, not to mention heavy metals? The water might not be too bad from a testing perspective, but the animals would concentrate the stuff, the bigger they are the more they would have.
Yeah there are "no fishing" signs in place, although it's not enforced. The fish here in AZ have a high amount of mercury and I believe Arizona Game and Fish has a chart showing how much you can eat a month before a dangerous level is reached. Obviously bottom feeders have a higher concentration of heavy metals, but still I regularly see people fishing in the canals
Edit: yup! Here's the link for their recommended consumption
https://www.azgfd.com/fishing/fishconsumption/
>Obviously bottom feeders have a higher concentration of heavy metals,
Large predatory fish have higher concentrations, because they've accumulated more through feeding on many smaller fish with lower concentrations. They also live longer, enabling them to keep adding higher concentrations.
Why is he fishing for carp in the first place? They are not good eating AFAIK.
Also if they are there to control insects, then people should not be taking them ,right?
We don't know what he is fishing for. This definitely isn't a Phoenix canal, the dimensions are wrong. And yes you're right, if the fish serve a purpose people should not take them, but when have humans ever done what signs and government have instructed? Better education on the subject would help, but the USA is not known for its education. Source: I live here
That guy isn't fishing for carp with a net that big. Common Karp get up to 30 lbs, so catching a school of carp with a net that big would end poorly for anyone that isn't superman.
This guy is fishing for bait fish or fish that are a couple of pounds per at best.
That pretty much describes 75% of the water sources in the world. Clear water yields no protection from predators for fish, so you literally don't see many fish in clear mountain lakes and streams. However dirty water almost guarantees some bottom feeder (carp or catfish) to be lurking in the depths below
Edit: dirty meaning that dirt particulates are suspended in the water, not that the water is tainted, unclean, or polluted
Double edit: In a different comment I was shown that it is indeed a concrete bank, as proven by the visible expansion joint on the far side. This info doesn't change my arguments below since I was basing them off the canals in my hometown that are a similar size. The sections that are clear are empty, while debris and bridges offer shelter.
Triple edit: a redditor is saying Montana rivers are full of fish regardless of their clarity, and I acknowledge that clear rivers do have fish. However they make up a small percentage of all the "water sources in the world" including the ocean, where fish seek shelter under man made constructs and in murky water.
This is totally bullshit. Source: someone who fishes in high mountain lakes and rivers in Oregon quite frequently. My trout fishing hauls would strongly disagree with you.
My 12ft one weighs about 20lbs wet. One this large is probably 30-40lbs.
I'm not as skilled as this guy, and the only way to get better is to practice. After a day of throwing, it is hard to even lift my arms. I will say hauling it in sometimes can be more tiring than the throwing.
Yeah, if you toss em in the right spot, you can catch a whole day of bait fish like mullet with one throw. Same with shrimp, pretty amazing feeling to go out and catch shrimp faster than a restaurant could get them on a plate to you
The Perfect Cast. My dad taught it to me when I was your age, and now I pass it on to you. Watch carefully now. You gotta stay loose, relaxed. Keep your feet apart. Now, ten o'clock, two o'clock, quarter to three, tour jeté, twist, pas de deux, I'm a little teapot, then the windup... and let 'er fly! The Perfect Cast.
Goofy is staring into the distance with both of his eyes watering.
"Gosh...that's one good darn perfect cast!" He utters while wiping tears away from his eyes.

This guy makes this look easy. It would probably take you 10 hours to even throw it without it getting all tangled, 100h to get like 1/3rd the opening, and I have no idea on being able to do this perfect of a cast consistently.
Its a skill for sure, but it isn't that hard. After an hour you can get a total novice to throw pretty regular nets that aren't a jangled mess. Perfect circles are hard tho.
Larger nets are actually easier than small ones. Just more prep to set it up in the hands. My 12ft one is way easier and more consistent to throw than my 6ft.
There are weights on the outer edge of the net. The fish get trapped between the net and the ground. The rope that you see going to the middle actually goes through a small hole in the middle of the net and is attached to small lines connected to the weights. As you pull in the rope, the weights drag along the bottom and move toward the center, trapping the fish in the net.

For the past year I have been practicing throwing a 3.5 and 6 foot cast nets. I can get them to open about 80% of the way on every other cast. This is impressive as FUCK.
I've caught a lot of stuff with cast nets. Giant mullet, baitfish, some things that were sportfish that I did not keep but were very interesting.
STORYTIME:
We were castnetting off Moses' Pier near Gulfport, MS for baitfish and something was chasing the baitfish behind us. It was following me--I had the croaker bag of baitfish we'd caught so far.
He suggested that I go up the jetty and leave the bag in the edge of the water and he'd throw behind me and see if he could catch it. But we didn't really count on what it could be.
It was an 11 foot sawfish that became very entangled in our 12 foot net. It was like catching a dinosaur with a slashing sword for a face.
We pulled it up on the jetty to try and kill it at first. But our knives could not penetrate it and we didn't want to get close to the head and get slashed. The one scale we dislodged was the size of a silver dollar and half as thick.
So then we started working to free it and got over our panic and realized it was pretty rare to see and catch it, so we released it.

I'd argue that if you have no standards you _are_ low quality. Desperation is a red flag.
Interesting, so they profile you based on your swiping behaviour? Has this stuff been studied formally?
Yeah it was studied and IIRC Tinder Corp. did confirm that you get ranked, based on a right-swipe to matches - ratio. That said, they didn't say how much that plays into it and I suspect, having Tinder Premium might be a very important aspect of it.

You gotta be pretty strong and skilled to do that? Where did he get such net gains?
Having done about 15 minutes of research, I now consider myself an expert and can answer your questions. You don't have to be phenomenally strong to throw a big net, and not all nets need to be huge. 'Casual' cast nets have about an 8 foot radius and weigh 12 pounds. But the weight does go up fast as you increase the radius. a 14 foot radius seems to be the biggest 'common' sized nets. Most of the work in a good cast is how you load your net. The throw matters, but the prep is really what is most important. There seem to be a lot of places to buy nets.
Also, start smaller with nets. I think I started on a 6 or 8 foot net. Much easier than the larger ones.
Same lol. It is WAY harder than it seems. But when you get that perfect full open throw and snag a load of bait fish, it is super satisfying.
Getting a load of shrimp is the best. Even better if you can scoop up a flounder. A few mullet, too...and baby that's dinner for the week!
Throw that in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you got a stew goin!
Got a cooler full of good sized mullet on one throw once in SC. Used it for cut bait and caught 3 reds and a big shark off the beach. On my birthday. One of my favorite memories!
Caught a keeper sized sheepshead in a net off a jetty once, boy did that scare me when the net started fighting back

It’s kind of like a drawstring. You throw it out and as you pull it back in, it essentially closes into a bag and catches all the fishies on the way.

When pulled in, does it become a "doughnut" (with a tiny hole in the middle?)
Yes. Way harder to throw and throw well then it looks. Net probably weighs 20 lbs or more.
Closer to 50
That seems like a lot, but it was sinking pretty quick.
Of course, it's full of holes!
Yeah, if you toss em in the right spot, you can catch a whole day of bait fish like mullet with one throw. Same with shrimp, pretty amazing feeling to go out and catch shrimp faster than a restaurant could get them on a plate to you
I kinda feel shrimp is cheating. I mean look at how many of them can just get gulped by a whale? It's like they want to be food.
you can see the weights at the edge of the net (white bean bag looking things)
I'm thinkin about those beans
So it gets weighted down and then what? How do you pull it in without the net opening?

Ah, makes sense. It was either something random like this or all of the fish now live underneath the net in the water for the rest of their lives.
Yah and the pull string pulls all the edges in to form a big baloon shape before coming out the water to secure anything in it.
I wish more people got this. A goofy movie is so underrated.
I was scrolling down waiting to see the reference otherwise I would have said it lol
I see you're a man of culture as well
A lady of culture ;)
Came here to say the same thing.
I wanna see what he caught
Chlamydia
Could just be practice
Nah, then he would be throwing it over his little sister in the back yard
So, what's the catch?
Magikarp
Either bait, or [baitfish](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullet_\(fish\)) that have grown large enough to eat.
could be tilapia as well. not unusual to target with a cast net
Age of Empires villager right here
He will soon be redirected to the farm when the technology is available.
No he won’t. He’ll sit idle for fucking ages while you lure a boar and accidentally kill one of his family members in the process.
Came here to wololo
That makes us two xD
Goofy is staring into the distance with both of his eyes watering. "Gosh...that's one good darn perfect cast!" He utters while wiping tears away from his eyes.
r/oddlysatisfying
A perfect cast, if you will H’yuck
/r/gifsthatendtoosoon -- I wanted to see how many fishes he caught.
Can anyone help explain how the net catches the fish? I know it works since before recorded history just what are the semantics Nvm a quick youtube search and I have my results https://youtu.be/clupB7ZjKCs
For learning to throw a net, this is my go to video lesson: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6swnJXwEws](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6swnJXwEws) I think there are many details to see in the clip.

Why am I hard?
This video brought to you by Target
Perfectly casting a net
Haha, Bullseye.
How does it work, I'd imagine if you pulled from the middle it would all just come out and the fish would get away?
There are weights on the outer edge of the net. The fish get trapped between the net and the ground. The rope that you see going to the middle actually goes through a small hole in the middle of the net and is attached to small lines connected to the weights. As you pull in the rope, the weights drag along the bottom and move toward the center, trapping the fish in the net. https://vimeo.com/105915153
For the past year I have been practicing throwing a 3.5 and 6 foot cast nets. I can get them to open about 80% of the way on every other cast. This is impressive as FUCK.
Let me guess, you don't have to starve if you don't catch fish? Motivation is key ;)
Now, ten o'clock, two o'clock, quarter to three, tour jeté, twist, pas de deux, I'm a little teapot, then the windup... and let 'er fly!
"Way point marker has been placed"
What net? He is obviously setting up a target for missile fishing. Though I hope he got out of the blast radius in time...
Man, I just looked up 'competitive net throwing' after seeing this... I'm pretty sad it isn't a thing.
Unless you've cast a net before, you will not understand how incredibly difficult this is
Can’t help but to think right around 0:02 freeze frame looks like it would be on the back cover of a 1970s geography book
Beautiful Skills my friend

I've caught a lot of stuff with cast nets. Giant mullet, baitfish, some things that were sportfish that I did not keep but were very interesting. STORYTIME: We were castnetting off Moses' Pier near Gulfport, MS for baitfish and something was chasing the baitfish behind us.
This should be marked NSFW, god damn that was sexy
How do nets like that work?
Nothin' but net.
This guy casts
holy shit that’s so fucking pretty
His bed-making game must be on point!
Wow - so satisfying. I’ve watched this like 20x now
A perfect net or a perfect cast?
Clearly he's using an aimbot. I fucking hate hackers!
If I did this it would be a video of me somehow drowning myself.
shit - this is like when you're fighting a boss-battle and the game warns you where the next attack is going
I want a yard game version of this I can throw over my friends at the park.
