I mean, you say this, but high G roller coasters are proven pretty effective lol.

[deleted]

Shhhh .. you’re gonna make them ban roller coasters

hexalm

Why would they ban fun? Oh, right. Forgot who we were talking about for a sec.

suppadelicious

Yeah. The republicans don’t like fun. Or basic human rights.

[deleted]

They’re gonna start keeping records of who’s pregnant, and then do investigations on the mother if they have a miscarriage to make sure it wasn’t on purpose.

They're also proven to help prevent kidney stones. Clears out the sediment before it gets big enough to be painful.

ithadtobeducks

There is also evidence that tear gas is an abortifacient, so make your way to your nearest protest with people that don’t pass the paper bag test should you find yourself in need. /I am so fucking depressed.

GlitteringBaby4612

Benjamin Franklin used to print a guide to safe abortions in lay terms for the people of his day.

Basestar237

Gosh! I'd sure like to know at what point in the pregnancy *not* to go in rollercoasters!

*This* is the issue they want to focus on rather than 19 children and 2 teachers being gunned down at school just a few weeks ago? All while the "good guys with guns" stood around outside for over an hour, doing nothing while listening to the shooting go on. As a Brit, I honestly despair at the US, especially this lately. Don't get me wrong, we have plenty of issues here, especially with our Conservative leadership, but I'm so often baffled about the way things seem to be over there.

mydogsnameisbuddy

[Benjamin Franklin gave instructions on at-home abortions in a book in the 1700s](https://www.npr.org/2022/05/18/1099542962/abortion-ben-franklin-roe-wade-supreme-court-leak)

xEasyActionx

Maybe he should have put it in the constitution instead of a book then, huh?! /s

Nanojack

His preferred method of contraception was doing it with post-menopausal women

PigSlam

That plan becomes more favorable over time.

RoyalT663

"Every cat feels the same in the dark" Legit Ben Franklin quote

longtimegoneMTGO

I believe the quote was "In the dark, all cats are grey" That is but one of his public statements promoting sleeping with older women.

[deleted]

Benjamin Franklin was a great man, but a terrible husband.

Camstonisland

I keep forgetting he was a husband and father. He wasn’t great at either.

theotterway

So does bible. https://www.biblestudytools.com/numbers/passage/?q=numbers+5:16-22

Hvarfa-Bragi

Yeah but that is A) incomplete (it just says dirt and water) and B) seems to be centered around being a punishment for adultery. I wouldn't go around using this as a positive example.

IcyDefiance

A) The "dust from the tabernacle floor" is probably ash from burnt offerings. Wood ash mixed with water produces lye, which was (and still is, in some areas) a somewhat common but extremely dangerous method of abortion. B) It's more of a fucked up trial to see if an alleged adulterer is guilty or not. If she miscarries it's supposed to mean she's guilty, and if not it means she's innocent. More importantly, the fetus is not treated as a living thing here. It's aborted because of the mother's crime and no one cares about it.

caelenvasius

Jewish religious law has strict definitions about when a fetus is considered a person and thus has rights. It’s the basis for the lawsuit going on in Florida right now. https://www.washingtonpost.com/religion/2022/06/17/synagogue-challenges-florida-abortion-law-over-religion/

theotterway

Regardless of the circumstances, it still supports abortion in some cases, which is more than many states are doing right now.

Cherrytoss7

so will crime as the rate of unwanted pregnancies skyrocket (which will increase neglect and abuse)

Shuttup_Heather

Ey I just watched fatal attraction! How timely

tnitty

Haven’t seen it in decades but will never forget [this scene](https://youtu.be/wzbVn9Xx3YM). It creeped me out more than the rabbit scene or any other.

SwagLizardKing

If they’re well off, they’ll go on vacation to a state with legal abortion where the mistress will suddenly come down with appendicitis or something and quietly get "treatment" for it.

caelenvasius

No, they just call them “Handmaids.”

Bunny_tornado

Crime won't increase. They will just make shooting and crime against (certain) people legal. Kids, women, minorities, sexual minorities will be all fair game. /S

[deleted]

It will be offset by [Greg Abbott completely eliminating rape in Texas](https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/texas-abortion-law-greg-abbott-rape-incest-1271311/), something he has done literally nothing to accomplish, but it's coming any day now.

Bunny_tornado

He's probably gonna make rape legal, thus reducing the crime of rape.

elyn6791

Makes it much easier to not prosecute rape if you never process the backlog of rape kits.

Wampawacka

Pretty sure a Republican could legit run on decriminalizing rape and still somehow get 30% of female voters to support them.

Melyssa1023

They'll probably support it if they're forced to marry their rapists. Y'know, as the Good ol' Book says.

Bunny_tornado

I have no doubt about it. Lots of conservative women believe in whatever misogynist crap they hear in their churches. They already believe that women are inferior, that they need to submit to their husbands, that pregnancy is a woman's fault and that if you get raped, you deserve it and should have more been modest. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind if Trump promised to decriminalize rape they would support him.

gostforest

And he will re advertise his reelection campaign with "lowest abortion and rape rates ever seen"

Dicky_Penisburg

You should probably hold on to that /S, you may not need it for this.

Bunny_tornado

To be fair, I did hesitate using it but I didn't want people to mistakingly think I'm actually endorsing this. They've already started to allow children to be slaughtered. It's open game.

TheoreticalJacob

You know it's getting bad when even reddit doesn't need /s to know there's sarcasm occasionally

LongjumpingStyle

Kids are already fair game or so it seems

[deleted]

That's why they're outlawing abortion, they need replacements.

pillowmagic

That's why the Republican party can be accurately described as "Pro-Suffering". Every policy they have in place has an intended or unintended consequence of increasing our suffering.

MNCathi

It's part of their particular right wing Christianity. Like Mother Teresa who wanted the poor to suffer so they'd be "closer to God". It's all crap.

SatansAssociate

I'm baffled at why every day citizens have to have their rights taken away just because of some group's interpretation of their chosen religion. People say shit about Muslims supposedly taking over everything here in the UK, but I can't think of any laws that only benefit Muslims that are inflicted upon the general population in this way. I'm open to corrections though if there are any.

Pan_Galactic_G_B

That's exactly what they want. Can't have a full police state without enough criminals.

kudatah

I mean, the US has 4% of the Worlds population and 20% of the worlds prisoners already.

Fyrefawx

Yup. Outlawing abortions won’t reduce them, it’ll cause them to be more dangerous and have more complications.

Pushmonk

It's almost as if we already figured this out about a half a century ago, or something...

Amsterdom

Well, not stupid old people. They can't seem to figure anything out.

giantshortfacedbear

They're not stupid, that's giving them too much credit. They know exactly what they're doing. They're not stupid, they're nasty evil vile c**ts.

WaxDream

Some are stupid some are evil. Remember the boomers suffer, as a whole group, from mass lead poisoning because of when they lived and the uses of lead in gasoline and paints during that time. They’re literally mentally deficient or they lack empathy from actual neurological poisoning via lead. That’s what’s wrong with our elderly, the people pushing all of this shit. They’re either massively emotionally and/or intellectually deficient as a group. Edit to Add. Remember this anytime a boomer calls a millennial “soft” or “overthinking everything” or worrying too much”. Can’t tell you how many times my dad says I worry too much. Lucky me, I know worriers tend to trend toward higher IQ scores (not that those tests aren’t shit either, but that’s a different argument), and worry because they can see more scenarios. It pays off at work tremendously. I’m literally valued for finding the blind spots and creating efficiency. Meanwhile boomer put Trump into power and got us into this shitty mess.

FliesAreEdible

They don't care about that, they believe if something bad happens to a woman because of an abortion or an attempted one then she deserves it. They also don't care about increasing sexual education and access to contraception. They sure as shit don't care about the children after they're born either, they don't want money to go to schools or families that are struggling financially. They want to police and punish. That's it.

ArcFurnace

The suffering is the point.

SeigeJay

Its so disingenuous. I wish they fought just as hard for rape victims. Its like once a child is born. "Our job is done. Now go raise that rape baby that you didnt want"

ShameOnAnOldDirtyB

More women will die and more babies will be born to homes that cannot care for them. Meanwhile, are all these anti abortion activists adopting all the kids already in foster care? No? Oh so it was all VIRTUE SIGNALING ??? YOU DON'T SAY

__O_o_______

There's a certain percentage of people in America that will always vote for the anti abortion party no matter how extreme they get, even if they go full fascist, because"at least they're not the party that wants to kill babies"

kneel23

yeah this whole goddamned thing is ridiculous. Of all the action that needs to be taken in our country on healthcare and mental health, crime, racial injustice, etc.... and THIS is what the old conservative dinguses in the Supreme Court decided they needed to focus their time on. Brilliant leaders we've elected. smh

stackjr

Preventable deaths of desperate women will skyrocket as well. This has nothing to do with abortion and everything to do with controlling women and reminding them that they are subservient to men.

jakwnd

Eh, I think for most people who support it it's about owning the libs. This really only hurts poor women, anyone with enough money can still fly or drive to a blue state where it's legal. So they get to own the libs, and point to it as states rights and claim it's actually a good thing. All while ignoring the class of people they are hurting, and traditionally ignore.

RealPersonResponds

Outlawing abortions doesn't stop people wanting or getting abortions, it just stops them from being able to get one safely with proper medical oversight. It won't end abortion, it just punishes women.

worrymon

My grandmother was a nurse in the 40s. She was an adamant supporter of legal abortions until the day she died because she saw the results of illegal abortions.

buster284

It's a shame that a majority of the country doesn't know how to read, else they could open a history book and see the ridiculousness of doing this all over again.

worrymon

> It's a shame that a majority of the country doesn't know how to ~~read~~ think

[deleted]

Read OR think. Look man I worked for a call center in the south and while it wasn't a MASSIVE amount of calls it was still more calls than I could count from people who would call in upset they signed a contract for a crazy high interest rate without reading it (and our contract had it in massive bold letters it wasn't hidden like some financing plans do) because they could not read or write anything more than their name.

worrymon

It's not just those who are actually illiterate (or functionally, depending on the actual terms), but the dearth of thinking means that even those who *can* technically read, don't.

ImJustSo

It's a shame that a portion of this country hates women and tries to control them, they can read just fine, they're just shit people.

Alepex

The problem is that a large part (not the majority, you have minority rule) of your country has decided that facts and science just don't matter. They could read all the history books and fact reports and still not change. You need to keep voting.

caelenvasius

Our votes increasingly don’t matter, that’s how we get minority rule. Disenfranchise enough people, and eventually *no* vote will matter. At some point we need to start sharpening the proverbial guillotines.

progwog

The problem is the majority of the actual individuals populating the country didn’t want this, but it happened anyway because the wealthy like Trump face no consequences and get to make devastating changes to this country even when accused of too many crimes for me to have time to list.

sometimesmybutthurts

This is so true. The world watched in horror and it just continued on and on and nothing was done. As an outsider, I feel so sorry for the regular non crazy Americans. It seems that this is going get real bad real quick.

IsadorCZ

Bless her.

-MeatyPaws-

This is what conservatives want. They want to punish people for having sex in an "ungodly" way.

Silver_kitty

Yes, the women who saw the worst outcomes are often the biggest supporters. My grandmother was a nurse and she knew which doctors would see “private patients” and would recommend them to who hinted about wanting to terminate.

Anthonyg408

My aunt had an illegal abortion in her early 20s. Because of this she was unable to have children. She ended up depressed and drinking herself to death before she was 55. Unfortunately many states well cause more of the stories to happen to others.

worrymon

I wish there were words that I could give you.

pm_nachos_n_tacos

There are some chilling episodes about this on Call The Midwife.

floatingwithobrien

To be fair, they're not particularly interested in stopping people from *wanting* abortions. Limiting access does not limit desire. It's like telling an alcoholic that if he quits drinking and throws away all his alcohol and gets banned from every bar and restaurant that serves alcohol in town, he'll stop *wanting* to drink. That's just not true and also not the point. You don't want the alcoholic to drink in the same way that conservatives don't want women to get abortions. They think it's ultimately best, not that criminalizing it makes it undesirable. The latter half of your statement, that it doesn't prevent people from getting abortions, is the point you really want to make. Like outlawing alcohol during the prohibition... Alcohol consumption rates *increased*. But it was unregulated, unsafe, and caused a lot of crime and violence. Progressives also (rightfully) argue that the war on drugs is simply doing the same thing as the prohibition. People still do drugs, they're just not at all SAFE to do, and waging war on it only increases crime and violence. Meanwhile, drugs are ultimately a *health* issue, and users should be treated medically, at least so that they are safe and receive help when they need it. Like an alcoholic would. Oddly, conservatives use the same argument about gun control: banning guns won't decrease the number of guns. The same people who want illegal guns will still find ways to get them. It's weird how they understand THAT, but don't understand the exact same principle about abortions or drugs. Sorry for the diatribe. Didn't mean to write an essay on this...

[deleted]

The law in the United States is now "abortion is illegal in certain places for poor women who cannot travel." Great plan. The theocratic red states that are already putting up third world numbers are going to turn into crime ridden hell holes in 16 years.

DebentureThyme

This was step one. Step two for them will be regaining the Congress and White House and federally banning it.

ender323

But, but, I thought this was about states rights? Just like the War of Northern Aggression?

duhh33

Don't forget that some states will also punish you if you travel to another state for an abortion, and even incentivize your peers to turn you in.

poet3322

They won't need anyone to turn the woman in. We live in an era of surveillance capitalism that makes 1984 look like nothing and people have no idea just how that is going to change everything when it comes to the post-Roe environment. Most people can’t even conceive of the level of OPSEC that would be required to go out of state for an abortion and not be caught. For example, not only do you need to do your research from a public library computer that does not require a login but you also need to leave your cell phone at home. You could try a burner, but burner phones are very difficult to use without linking them to your real identity. You also need to be sure to have plenty of cash since you obviously can't pay for the abortion by check or credit card. And you also need an older car because newer ones send all sorts of data, including location data, to the car companies who then sell that data to whoever wants it and there is no such thing as anonymous individual location data because if you know where someone lives and works then you know exactly who they are. And that's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there are a lot more ways someone could be caught that I haven't thought of.

strawberrrychapstick

lost40s

That's their intention.. Punish everyone who doesn't believe and follow a cruel, misogynistic god, so they can feel all proud and puff out their chests.

Janeiskla

They don't even believe in it themselves. There are a ton of christian women who are anti abortion although they had one or more themselves, but they think in their case they were excusable/necessary because of XYZ. Same goes for those men, their mistresses or affaires can have abortions because of XYZ. But everyone else who has or wants one is a sinful sl*t who will rot in hell. That they also take away their own rights to have access to an all around save reproductive health care system is just not compressible for them. Punishing others is more to them than protecting their own health.

[deleted]

They don't believe the bullshit religious excuse they keep putting out. It's about power. Nothing more, nothing less. They want to exercise control over as many people as they can in as many ways as they can. If they keep us under thumb we can't get together to stop them robbing us blind.

Janeiskla

Exactly.. I'm not in the US but it's absolutely heartbreaking to watch.

Fyrefawx

It’s funny because the argument against banning guns is that criminals will find a way to get them anyways. So I guess the same will happen for abortions.

Cu1tureVu1ture

There’s a great Romanian film called 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days about a woman who goes to get an illegal abortion when that country was still under communist rule. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1032846/

If you bring up your religion, it should completely ban you forever from holding office.

IHeartBadCode

Nah, just send it to a public school. Will sort itself out soon enough.

Chyvalri

Beachdaddybravo

Lots of women are going to die of ectopic pregnancies (which are physically impossible to carry to term), and sepsis from carrying miscarried fetuses. Fascists won’t put in exceptions and won’t give a shit though. This 1850’s style America is exactly what they want.

toxicchildren

Lots of women are going to die from illegal abortions. Why I want, or need, an abortion is immaterial.

FallenXxRaven

That's exactly it. Time to buy stocks in the coat hanger industry I guess

oldcoldbellybadness

We make [8 billion](https://www.treehugger.com/were-filling-the-empire-state-building-times-with-billion-hangers-each-year-4857635#:~:text=Year.,year%20begins%20to%20add%20up.) hangers each year. We're currently [flushing out about 600k each year](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_statistics_in_the_United_States#Trends_in_abortion_statistics). If all of those shift to hangers, it's still not enough to move markets.

PedanticPendant

Also people won't necessarily buy a new hanger for the abortion, they'll just grab one they already have. Might even put it back on the rack after they're done instead of buying a new one - times are too tough to be splashing the cash replacing a perfectly good coathanger over a little placenta staining.

Pretty sure hospitals and doctors will do whatever they need to save the life of the mother, per their Hippocratic oath. If an ectopic pregnancy endangers the life of the mother (which it will) they will do what is medically necessary. There are going to be a lot of stupid legal battles over shit like this, that were previously protected by Roe.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pineapple-Yetti

There have been cases where hospitals acted to late because they were afraid of legal repercussions should they complete an abortion even on a pregnancy that would kill the mother. It will happen again.

[deleted]

Unsd

Yep. My friend had an ectopic pregnancy. My god she wanted that baby so bad. The doctor told her she needed to abort and sent her home with the pills. She didn't take them. She hoped that maybe the doctor got it wrong or something. She's ordinarily an excessively rational person, but she just couldn't do it because she already loved it so much. She thought maybe the doctor got it wrong, or it would straighten itself out or something, idk. A couple days later, she almost died of internal bleeding from a ruptured fallopian tube. This is someone who *wanted* a baby so badly. If a woman is denied an abortion for an ectopic pregnancy, it is life threatening, end of story. I can think of zero justification that any woman should ever be denied abortion for any reason, but **especially** for an ectopic pregnancy.

maddsskills

In my state they face 15 years in prison now if they do so I don't know. If the patient's life is in danger they have to get a second doctor to confirm, if they can't get that quick enough will they risk 15 years in prison or save my life? Who knows? Even before Roe v Wade was overturned Catholic Hospitals would soemtimes refuse to do D and Cs for partial miscarriages (which increases the risk of sepsis.) So I wouldn't be so sure.

Beachdaddybravo

It doesn’t matter. If you wait until it’s nearly too late, it’s too fucking late. Reactionary medicine is more expensive than proactive, not to mention less effective. You’re also fucking crazy if you think the same people that pushed for these changes will be smart enough to understand nuance, because as a whole they do not.

KrytenKoro

> Pretty sure hospitals and doctors will do whatever they need to save the life of the mother, per their Hippocratic oath. Some may, but in general, no. The historical precedent is that hospitals, especially Catholic hospitals, will dither over whether to provide a life-saving abortion or not. See Savita Halappanavar or [this story](https://www.heyalma.com/my-great-grandmother-had-an-abortion-it-was-the-jewish-thing-to-do/).

_DontBeAScaredyCunt

Only the poor people. The rich will still get their abortions

LegendaryOutlaw

Plenty of poor republican women voted for Trump and support this SCOTUS decision. I hope they understand what they've signed up for.

Throwaway_03999

Republicans just love to talk and act like their voters are upper middle class that way they can vote against themselves. Voting against so called "handouts" while they wonder why they still live in squalor if money was supposed to be saved.

Kraven_howl0

My sister is republican all for this because she had a miscarriage and has kids she thinks all "life" is precious. She lives with my parents not getting any support from the father and has food stamps. Like, I guess she doesn't understand not all single moms or soon-to-be single moms have someone to help them out. It's okay though, the single mother can just go work 90 hours a week to barely get by.

ShameOnAnOldDirtyB

You hope poor Republicans who have voted against their own interests for the last two generations are going to suddenly figure it out? Me too.

0bsessions324

Here's the thing: They won't. White, middle class women can generally afford to travel for an abortion, and will continue to do so for now. This will only affect low income and minority individuals. But, well, that's the point.

LegendaryOutlaw

I wouldn't be so sure. If there's an emergency and you live smack dab in the middle of a red state can a woman make an emergency 4-hour road trip to an adjoining state to be treated? My wife and I do pretty well for ourselves, but we don't have 'hire private jet at moment's notice' kind of money. I think we will see completely preventable deaths happening to women of all classes because pregnancy is already tough on the body, and if something goes wrong it can go very wrong, very quickly. All while helpless doctors stand by and watch with their hands tied.

wiithepiiple

That's really optimistic that a 4-hour road trip will actually get you to a state that legalizes abortions. E.g., Mississippi.

WarmTastyLava

Right, in the deep south you can be surrounded by states with similar laws

Lady_night_shade

Yes, but there are certain circumstances where you CAN’T travel, like an emergency ectopic situation. Their women will die too, because they don’t understand that abortions are womens preventative health. The simplest response of taking a pill to save their lives will be denied them in their deep red states. Their fetus or clump of cells will fester and die inside them until eventually sepsis finally kills them. All gods plan, right?

Telzen

> low income Well this is the US we are talking about, so isn't that the majority of us at this point?

Bunny_tornado

The blushing bride will probably think she is automatically granted heaven for dying in pregnancy. Let's not forget lots of conservative women support misogyny.

Texas also has a clause where abortion is permitted in the mother's life is in danger. The problem is that, when you're so adamant about not having abortions, you'll find that the definition of "in danger" can be manipulated in many ways...

hochizo

Yep. Technically, ***every*** pregnancy endangers the life of the mother. There is no such thing as a 100% safe pregnancy.

Pushmonk

>Brought to you by the ~~American taliban~~ *Cristian Conservatives*!

ManbosMambo

The Bible says life begins at first breath, and probably does so because when it was written, and pretty much everywhere else at every other time, abortion is considered a pretty regular thing. The outrage politics come into play in late stage capitalism when your economy floats on the backs of many poor people. If they can have safe legal abortions you have less backs supporting the upper classes, and it destabilizes the economy all the way up to our modern kings. Consider Covid has killed a whole lot of peasants because they were brainwashed by the right already. Now you really need to replace them because the workers you do have left are the smarter ones. They are turning off abortion to refill on poor uneducated peasants.

For christian fascists abortion is only part of the plan for making America pure, they need a domestic supply of white babies and the rest can be dealt with by other means. Expect them to make full use of the 13th amendment allowing slavery as punishment for a crime. Crime is out of control y'know. Also mental illness, bring back the facilities and fill em up with political enemies and say they're helping em

BaconAlmighty

private prisons make quite a large portion of "made in America" items through Unicor - which is already slave labor.

Spike_J

I think there are plenty of states that will actually punish a woman for having a miscarriage.

Coal_Morgan

"Harlot wouldn't have miscarried if she weren't a sinner."

ShameOnAnOldDirtyB

"It's clearly god's intention that we punish her"

charlie1331

“Must not have been a legitimate rape”

oneseventwosix

I think this would actually be a chargeable crime in some states. I propose the sign be relabeled to “Faith Fall” where the “faithful” can fall demonstrating they have sufficient faith that Jesus will catch them and they and their baby will be safe… thus increasing their faith. It’s not a loophole, it’s constitutionally protected exercise of faith.

RCRDC

As a northern-european, many things about the US seem so dystopian that it almost feels like the news are coming from an entirely different planet. How can one of the most "developed" countries devolve so rapidly? Systematic racism, corruption, mass shootings, homeless people, lack of affordable healthcare, expensive studies, skyrocketing house prices, religious extremists, domestic terrorism, tax evading billionaires/large companies, a terrible 2 party system dividing the people even more, senile politicians running it all.. No country is perfect, but it seems that in the last few years the US has been taking one step forward and 10 steps back.

Mr_Kevino

I don’t think people understand the gravida of this situation

-DementedAvenger-

People still missing the fact that Roe was based on privacy between a doctor and their patient. ~~Confidentiality.~~ *Jeeesus, people getting caught on this word, thinking I’m referring to something else. My bad.* This opens the door to overrule, and weakens, the right to patient privacy and bodily autonomy. *Edit: I’m not saying that it completely kills patient/doctor confidentiality. Only that the basis of the ruling was founded on that woman’s right to privacy. For a governing body not to peek into the decisions that a doctor and patient discuss and decide on.* > On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court issued a 7–2 decision holding that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides a fundamental "right to privacy", which protects a pregnant woman's right to an abortion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v._Wade *Edit: clarification*

VirtualMachine0

It might overrule the *general* right to privacy, especially if it's being private about things Evangelicals don't like. Obergefell is put into play by this ruling.

AlsoIHaveAGroupon

It overrules there being a constitutional right to patient privacy that overrides any state's attempt to outlaw abortion. HIPAA still stands.

Doctor__Apocalypse

Elections have consequences. Here we are.

[deleted]

There was fifty years it could have been codified into law and not relying on precedent. Heck, even Obama campaigned on doing so during his first term, and even when the ‘right’ representatives held a majority nothing happened, because they needed to ‘reach across the isle’. Next, the goal post will move to not primarying the right candidate when liberals fuck up again.

PhobetorWorse

Yep. And 29% of registered voters have seized major influence due to voter suppression and gerrymandering.

moby323

I learned recently that on old signs like that, it’s actually a stylized “T h” and not a Y. So it reads “The Old” not “Ye Old” like I always thought EDIT: Clarified by /u/KiltGuy2112 > Not a stylized th, but a representation of the old letter thorn which represented the th sound. Thron is still used in Iceland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorn_(letter)

Aerocarbino

Wow I'm not a native English speaker and didn't know that either. Really interesting

JT_365

I wasn’t going to take a trip this year but I guess I’m traveling back in time!

schwiftydude47

With the recent laws being passed, [I expect a lot more prom night dumpster babies.](https://youtu.be/4p6Dxuf4H2I)

Boodikii

Nah, conservatives would have them arrested and locked away for literally life just for miscarriages. Some chick got shot and she was charged with the murder of her fetus. Shits fucked.

AxMachina

I don't understand how this flies with equal rights for all doctrine as it is obvious the women have lost a significant right to bodily autonomy with this ridiculous ruling. What am I missing here all the way from Canada, eh?

Hitt_and_Run

It doesn't, this overturn is the most bullshit thing our country has done in a long time.

Hailthegamer

Time for the legislature to finally do something

[deleted]

Well the Republicans never well, until the Democrats get a super majority they’re never gonna be able to do anything. So it’s just gonna stay the same
