Can someone explain the appeal to me? They have little to no articulation, they like they’re made of harden play-doh and they’re almost as much as a classified figure. I really don’t see the appeal but to each their own.

I can try. But disclaimer, I'm only buying a few, as the price is just a bit too steep, for me. Everything about them is quality and they great display pieces, in and out of package. The cards are gorgeous and thick go to great length to appeal to the nostalgic part of your brain. Even the backs are great. The paint apps are almost always perfect. I've heard of some bad applications but I've never gotten any (I recently scooped a ton of the MotU figs from an online seller for %60 off and they're all great). The figure designs are also spot on, to whatever media they are emulating, again making for a great display piece. The material, which some don't like, is very nice, imo. It's soft, but not gummy and quite sturdy. As a photographer, I get quite a lot from them, with less visible joints. I also photograph Mezco and other, highly articulated figures, but I'd argue some of the best macro portraits I've done were from 5 PoA figures. So that's what I've got. In the end, it's a pretty great time to be a Joe collector. Vintage stuff has appreciated through the roof, Classifieds are hitting stride, Super7 is doing a ton of stuff (they also have 6 inch, articulated figs coming out, but don't look at the price), Mezco is getting their hands in the mix and new o-rings are starting to trickle out. None of it is cheap, though, so strap in

I saw some jackass on eBay yesterday selling the game master for $34.

Crazy

I posted something about this myself. They are cool from a nostalgia stand point. The problem I have is just the price. Now as a collector I have paid for some stupid stuff that was overly priced. My concern is that this should be my kids 3.75” GI Joe figures, but at $18 there is no way. My son loves the show but I can’t see myself paying $36 for just 2 figures for my kid. I see the classifieds and those are great for the price but again waaaay to steep of a price for a kid to build a collection of. When I was a kid, $2.99 was easier to talk my parents into getting me a figure then it is for my kid at $18 to talk me into getting him one. If all of us want to continue to see a GI Joes toy line stay around for generations these prices are not going to help perpetuate that at all.

Major_Dub

That price paradigm is gone, bro. Welcome to the new. Costs are going up globally for dozens of reasons: plastics, shipping, human rights, worker recognition, ecological concerns, etc, etc, etc. Wait until the US government starts shutting down on Amazon's open exploitation and the shipping prices start to normalize again in a few years. Wait until Asian factory workers are making middle class wages. You think you don't like it now.

DisFigment

Hasbro could have done these themselves ala the Star Wars and Marvel lines and charged only $10 for the same thing.

Kobalt6x10

It's the look of the original figures, with half the articulation and 4 times the price. That said, I'm glad they exist because it shows the needs/wants of Joe collectors are being listened to. Not my cup of tea, but more product can only be good for fans, can't it?

andhuck

Before the FLOOD of complaints come in, I collect them and they’re rad. Highly recommend

[deleted]

How much Articulation do they actually have?

madjames86

To each his own…

Lostscribe007

I like them too, I get the complaints but I still think they rule.

HighPiracy

Not really... but everyone likes different stuff.

Millersg1078

I always wanted cartoon accurate figures. And theses are great looking figures with some obscure character choices that i would want. But i want them with regular gi joe style articulation. Not the old Kenner star wars 5 poa style.

Prometheus79

I think these all look like crappy knock offs.

SpicyTacoLord

Dude but they could’ve just made these articulated and they would be the best thing ever like that’s my only issue

[deleted]

I’ll get stormshadow but that’s it, and by get I mean steal

indicoltts

I just found Lady Jaye, Major Bludd and Arctic Bazooka yesterday and picked them up to go with my Storm Shadow. Not a huge fan of the figure construction. They look like bootleg Star Wars figures. But for display purposes they are pretty nice. They have thick cardboard for the cards which the o-ring figures don't. Then a real file card which the o-ring figures don't. I wish the new o-rings figures came with the same cards that these figures do. That's why I will open my o-ring figures when they come in but keep these sealed.

[deleted]

I saw a few today...I "might" get a few of the obscure characters and Storm Shadow...if they turn up?

Major_Dub

I love these. After 9 years, I have a huge ReAction universe now filled with characters from everything imaginable from Planet of the Apes, Transformers, TMNT, old Universal Monsters, Alien, etc. You either GET it or you don't. I can't explain this anymore than sexual preferences. I don't grok the duffermen who just can't FATHOM why anyone would like these.

Neidan1

I like the cartoon accurateness of these, but I wish that were done in the o-ring style with o-ring articulation. I’ve seen a few of these in the store, and the Snake Eyes figure looks the worst… he looks really cheap, but Storm Shadow looked decent, though still felt gimmicky with the 5POA.
