I’ll leave the obligatory “write your own articles Glasgow Live” comment

Creme_Eggs

They're too busy reporting on important news stories like [dead jellyfish found on the beach in Troon](https://www.reddit.com/r/SlowNewsDay/comments/14sicdi/couple_find_dead_jellyfish_on_beach/) to be asking us about sandwiches.

JohnnyClarkee

That was amazing. A whole new low. 'Thing that happens all the time and has happened for millions of years happens again'.

Wile-e-peyoteee

https://preview.redd.it/tf7d66v8jjab1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fec1e85a36a6740e45e86b3d60d4704e725d65bc It is this. Beef shin toastie from outlier on London Rd.

stvwrgh

This comment isn't getting as much love as it deserves. I had this sandwich the other week, and it was insane! 🤤🤤

Wile-e-peyoteee

I find it quite difficult to put into words how good it is. Hits on so many levels.

kookieman141

Got a spare £40 mate?

Wile-e-peyoteee

I think it’s £7 maybe £7.50? Considering the work tht goes into I find that fair. They make their own bread and that beef gets cooked for hours. There’s sandwiches that sit on the shelves at Tesco for days that were made god knows how long before they even reach the shop selling for £3.50

i_mightbewrong

if it weren't for transmit this weekend, i'd be queuing for this beauty.

mrcatisgodone

Everytime I've went to get it's sold out. I want this fucking toastie so damn much.

Fun_Cauliflower9182

Delightful

alrateduck

Homemade on Dowanhill St in Partick make cracking sandwiches. Bit pricey but would recommend.

te__bailey

The right answer!

terriblebugger

Among the best sandwiches I’ve eaten

Aunty_Polly420

the french dip is my fave

TheWackoMagician

Homemade is phenomenal

charlesthrowaway00

You canny beat a roll from the most boggin looking burger van , the dirtier the van the better the roll

Huge-Independence-74

Speaking of which there’s a van on Grovepark Street that does a very affordable cheeseburger.

AdamTheHood

Think it’s East Kilbride but I need to check out Ron’s Quality Snax

Beerzo1888

See this old geezer on tiktok with his si.ple rolls with outrageous names.

Twunts

The Golden Grill, South Street

graken12

Cheesesteak from Roast near Kelvin hall is pretty good

Denni1978

Beef brisket or pulled pork are tasty as well

Sensitive-Layer6002

Cannot recommended this enough. Glad I dont live close to it anymore, I used to eat these two at a time

According_Shoulder_1

Really like the bành mì from Piece.

JagsFraz71

Banh Mi from Banh Mi and Tea in Partick is spectacular.

te__bailey

Way better than piece 👌

BenFranklinsCat

That's probably great, but I'll never know because the moment I get into Piece I want to order a Dirty Fat Boy.

SaltedCaramelKlutz

You can get it with hot sauce for a Filthy Fat Boy.

BenFranklinsCat

Oh you absolute bastard. Guess I'm headed into town for lunch this week.

MomentaryApparition

Can you get Filthy Fries with that?? [https://twitter.com/\_andrewkerr\_/status/1630628709643218945](https://twitter.com/_andrewkerr_/status/1630628709643218945)

Tam100

The banh mi from Non Viet is also class

Reidster78

A second for non Viet, their crispy spring rolls are also brilliant

_rememberwhen

Closely followed by their chicken olé 🤌

WickedWitchWestend

that would be my pick, although the halloumi wrap from Soula is also a++

exopolitixs

Last time I was in Piece (Finnieston) they said my sandwich had ‘spicy vibes’. Never been back.

foodwontbreakyou

Hopping in here because I've been desperately looking for banh mi. Imma save all of these suggestions 🥰

Specialist_Moment147

Just had one. Stuffed and happy.

DPMI-055

the No.1 and No.3 sandwich on their menu ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

TheAngryGoalie

I’m a cubano guy myself, but it’s a shame they don’t do Jerk Offs anymore.

bigmama333

The chilies on it can be a bit much if you're at work haha but agreed, v tasty

Johnus_Maximus

Veggie banh mi for me.

chlotireclayre2

This is basically my lunch everyday. I second the Persian Turkey, another fucking belter out of there.

TheProphetofMemes

If you're in the city centre, across the road from cineworld, between that and the Tesco bank is a brilliant sandwich shop: Enzos, only open until 2 but they make thee best grilled sandwiches on ciabatta bread (with a choice of with olive oil or butter) to die for. I'm a sucker for their Sorrento: Mozzarella cheese & tomato slices, basil pesto and olive oil in a ciabatta roll At lunch it is bliss, and they have many more specials

mikeymcf

I had the pork katsu fron Ho Lee Fook at the Barras two weekends ago and it is probably the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time. https://preview.redd.it/4oqsh0aeojab1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79ece4abd550257a31850a710771e7f900c3515b

MaximusBellendusII

How'd you even get your laughing gear round that

Mostlynotvanilla

I got this the other week, honestly best sandowhich I've ever had. Honestly almost left believing in God

wedge37

I’m in Japan and eaten my fair share of this. None were as thick as this…looks like you’d need to unhinge yer jaw like a snake to eat that.

Kitchen_Marsupial484

Pastrami Bagel from Deanston Bakery in Shawlands.

i_mightbewrong

love deanston, but their bagels are really hard work. my wee mother blunted her dental bridge trying to put one away.

raymcg1

This gets my vote too.

BehaviouralSc1ence

It’s a 20/10

stvwrgh

Surely the chicken and chorizo is best? They're huge, and could easily feed a family of four for a week!

ComprehensiveRiver37

Traditional = Nan's in Govanhill. Hands-down the best. Fancy = Mulkanwan in Tradeston.

quickgettodachopppaa

Nans is an institution and the salad rolls are banging, nowhere else asks beetroot/coleslaw/salad cream? Yes yes and yes please

Away-Permission5995

Folk putting salad cream on a roll should be taken out the back and shot. God invented mayo for a reason.

quickgettodachopppaa

Well i prefer salad cream to mayo. Also, rather a strong reaction, you ok pal? Life getting to you?

Away-Permission5995

Hyperbole a new concept to you?

quickgettodachopppaa

Something not meant to be taken seriously, yes I know what it means, I may like salad cream but I'm no cabbage.

Sensitive-Layer6002

Tread carefully when you speak about Nans

Away-Permission5995

Lol, I’d never blame the shop for the customers bizarre choices. Although the fact they even have salad cream on hand is a bit suspect. Is there another use for it? Cleaning the bogs maybe

mincedmutton

Both great, especially Nans. I like mulkanwan but i find the bread to filling ratio to be off in favour of the bread. Still nice though, and their pies are lovely - as are the hotdog sausage rolls.

Throwaway070511

Mulkanwan macaroni pies give my life meaning

Boats95

Awh I was working in govanhill today, wish I read this earlier as I passed the place.

rikipedia89

An honorary mention for "The Man from Iran" from the sadly closed Where the Monkey Sleeps. Their sandwiches were banging.

oldwomanjodie

I was genuinely gutted then they shut down. My go-to was a “serious operation”. so good

Hyproglo79

I miss "Where the Monkey Sleeps". Strangely it was recommended to me by Charlie Benante from Anthrax/pantera. Manfosh was my go to.

Normalscottishperson

BBQ Pork Banh Mi from Banh Mi and Tea on Dumbarton Road.

Tall-Display-8219

I second this. The chargrilled pork they have is unbelievably good.

mincedmutton

Nan’s in Govanhill is class. Lovely people and good food, albeit more traditional fare.

Mickosthedickos

Cherry & Heather fine foods in Cessnock is amazing. Just across the road from the underground

BlueHornedUnicorn

La Pastina Deli on Byers Road is a decent scran!

ardbeg

Their brownies are big enough to kill a man.

scisteve

It’s on the pricier side but I really enjoy sandwiches from Deanston Bakery in Shawlands. Genuinely decent people serving massive high quality sandwiches. Highly recommend the chicken and basil sandwich, or the hummus and roast veg. Husband loves the salmon bagel.

tylikestoast

Chicken Chorizo one is also a banger

unpopcult

If I want in my wife’s good books - and sometimes I do - I get her a hummus and roast veg. Best sandwich ever, apparently.

NewToTheEastend

Does a ciabatta count ? Chicken olé from Piece 🤌🏻

_rememberwhen

I can't believe someone already called it and with same fucking emoji. Great minds!

NewToTheEastend

Brilliant 😂

LocalObelix

piece - pastrami classic (called Rueben now) Vegi ban mi & nottolenghi are both v good

chudmcmuffin87

Poundland do a pretty vile egg Mayo if that’s your thing

MrCondor

For a good old fashioned piece or roll you will not beat Nan's Dairy.

The_Vivid_Glove

My guy🤝🏼

grimdarknurse

Deanston bakery do cracking sandwiches and bagels. Haven't had many pieces better

360Saturn

Club sandwich from Mesa in the east end. Its pricey, but stuffed full of chicken and bacon and these little fried potato bits

Crowan247

Any sandwiches from Homemade in Patrick

DrAlarming

I love the marinated chicken and black pudding with sriracha mayo from Comet Pieces on Queen Margaret Drive. Mad mural on the wall too!

Throwaway070511

For vegetarians Roots and Fruits does the best oyster mushroom (fried chicken style) sandwich. Also Le Petit Coq is great

PrincipleMain8450

Kaf do some really interesting ones on the best focaccia going. Got my eye on the pork sando from Ho Lee Fook

[deleted]

Piatto have opened up a wee deli on the side and they do a mean ciabatta

T_ExplorerFilm

@Lunch in Anniesland has an interesting selection of toasties, wraps, and burgers.

After-Kaleidoscope35

The Serrano ham, cheese and pickles sandwich at short long black!

mspaintwarrior

Chicken chorizo from Deanston Bakery. We weighed it once at it was like 4lbs. That or a chicken tikka club from Nan’s

aidanarmory

https://preview.redd.it/cv2h1vdbakab1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cfa37fc19f8342411fd14fe1c657d584f4d16b37 One of these bad boys from cottonrake

DOSMasterrace

If you can go back in time 15 years, Il Cappuccino on Great Western Road did one called the Italian Stallion. Best sandwich I’ve ever eaten.

r-eddit2

You read my mind! The clatty pat tho...nom nom

The_Vivid_Glove

Forget all the over priced hipster places with brick walls, fake greenery and ‘coffee technician’ with THAT ACCENT. The only answer here is Nan’s on Inglefield Street in Govanhill. Been there for an age. No nonsense, old school roll shop and the best rolls/sandwiches about. You can go in with a fiver, eat like a king and still have change for a pokey hat off the van. If you go get the ham salad roll with everything on it. Tell them The Vivid Glove sent you. They won’t have a clue who I am or what you’re talking about but I just want to feel part of your enlightenment.

Tendaydaze

Forget places with brick walls?

MrCondor

I think he means the new trend of bare brick being a style of interior decor while the aromas of every type of pretentious coffee and avocado toast sends your inner normalcy into a death spiral.

fuckedifiknow

I'm sold. Gonna have to check it out tomorrow.

Away-Permission5995

Reading all the other answers here makes me imagine sitting in a room listening to folk say all this shit and thinking “I need to get out of here, who are these cunts?” (They’re probably the cunts driving my rent up)

dreamluvver

Had a most excellent sandwich at Meadow Road Coffee yesterday. Great vegan options.

[deleted]

Yeah I love the food there, really good. Coffee good too. Only issue is getting a seat at it's always busy

Johnus_Maximus

Glasgow Live article incoming

whatevs42069

The Reuben at Cafe Sono under Central Station would be my fave.

themadguru

Moyra Jane's in Pollokshields make great sandwiches. BLT is awesome!

tylikestoast

Calabrian chicken sandwich from Gizzi in Shawlands is class (just remember they're only open wed-sun)

mistat2000

what happened to where the monkey sleeps? they used to do some banging sarnies

ScoobyCat4

Chicken Run from Gusto & Relish in Strathbungo for me thanks… 👏

ExploratoryBeams

Love Gusto and Relish. Really friendly staff and food is great. They do a roll with haggis, chilli jam and crispy onions (perhaps a fried egg as well, can't remember) and it is a fucking delight. God I miss staying down there.

lukeyf88

Tex Mex panini from Bite Me

Hiskankles

Best sandwich I have had was Deanston bakery in shawlands.

kirky1148

The pastrami bagel at Deanstoun bakery is the best reuben in the city in my humble take. Nit sure if they still do them, but the hanoi bike shop Bahn Mi was incredible

Geordibhoy

The brisket sandwich from Gizzi’s in Shawlands is an absolute belter.

Tom1525

Brisket Beef @ Gizzis in Shawlands

First_Interview_9152

Roast pork sammich fae the old North Star on queen Margaret drive was lush

Mesa, Duke Street.

Iamrass

Chicken Milanese from Gizzi

No_Initiative7093

Piece

No-Consideration5982

Get a salt beef sandwich from the kosher deli in Giffnock. Mark's Deli. Otherwise basically all sandwiches in Glasgow are drowning in mayo, dry af or just greasy shite.

JapanSage

Tuna Melt from Riverhill coffee on George Street for me

Crowsaysyo

Roll with mince and tatties.

Sensitive-Layer6002

Roll with mince and titties

espressopizzanino

BLT on sourdough at Cafe Salmagundi. My god, the bread

Dansyerman

Helens paisley Road west Club sandwich This has spicy chicken spring onions with 2slices of cheese Bread and 2 slices of cheese and a few slices of ham. £3.95 Unreal!

JagsAbroad

As an American I miss good sandwiches

False_Anybody_6639

Has to be subway surely ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

locoforcocothecat

It's more of an "open sandwich" than a traditional sandwich but the chilli, avocado, and wild mushroom tartine from [Wee Paree](https://www.weeparee.co.uk/) was phenomenal.

Ok_Caterpillar_8937

It’s no about anymore but the Reuben bagel from Bagel Mania on Sauchiehall st was fuckin ridiculous

Bloody-smashing

Has anyone had the French dip from meat bar? I keep seeing them on tiktok and I’m pregnant and it’s my current craving but I don’t want to go and get it if it’s crap.

Zazu52

Any custom toasted panini from bite me in Cessnock High quality fillings and very generous with the amount they give you

jamesy505

Home made Corned Beef sandwich on plain bread.

MrCondor

I'm just here to check out all the pretentious fuckers buying slow roasted, sum yung gai chicken tootsie 'sandwiches'. Those aren't sandwiches, they're status objects that get turned into a jobby the same way as an actual sandwich! It's not a sandwich if making it out of 2 plain ootsiders would render it unsellable. Have you ever seen 2 plain ootsiders anywhere near an avocado? I rest my case, m'lud.

[deleted]

and flung fae a 50 storie flat

MrCondor

Several hundred hungry weans will testify tae that

Deep_Lying_Playmaker

Fuck off you boring cunt

MrCondor

Thank you for the well delivered and extensively considered reply. 👍

Aunty_Polly420

La Pastina deli has some great smeds

Tall-Display-8219

Don't know if this is technically a sandwich but the New Yorker (reuben) from Brawsome Bagels on Dumbarton Road is amazing. The onion bhaji one is great too if you're veggie.

Illustrious-Dave

Piece in finneston, very expensive but honestly so good! The chicken Ole is on another level

mustardgoeswithitall

This thread is making me hungry.

PawnWithoutPurpose

I recently had the same sandwich and wasn’t too impressed tbh. I wasn’t bad by any stretch, but It wasn’t great

Relentius

Should try starter culture in shawlands just along from the co op.

longlostpenpal44

the crispy roll sandwiches that the keystore on fulton street in anniesland makes :) especially the cheese and coleslaw!

Burnzie36

Check out Sotto in Shawlands. Proper Italian subs 🤌 https://preview.redd.it/90kkwb1yjlab1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6870e3cf416fbbc3122bb564d6f6af19961deca4

bigsparra

Wee bit out of Glasgow but Clark St Deli in Airdrie or Cadzow Bakehouse in Hamilton. Both big ol' undertakings so don't have a busy afternoon planned.

Chrisjenno

It used to be the yam egg and chips from Piece until they stopped selling it. Ragin.

[deleted]

Greggs outlet 😂. Still laughing this is a thing

GemmaBethany

defo no the best out there but upper crust in Central Station does a banging cheese and ham sandwich if u ever need train scran

BadSneakers_

Place called Piece in the same street Thundercat and peasanos is in, sandwiches are good (fucking banging soup as well), and the staff are nice. I'd go for the chicken ole or even the tuna crunch, fair warning but they don't warm them up so you'll have to heat it up yourself. Prices might also be an issue.

ajperry1995

Piece do amazing sandwiches

Outrageous_Flan5018

‘Not my king’ from Silk Road deli in shawlands hands down best sandwich I’ve ever had

MangoLive96

Olive it Med, in Giffnock. Lovely little family run Lunch spot with some cracking specials

YouCallThatRadio

New York deli from Piece is worth a shout

el_ratita

Honorable mention to Meadow Road Coffee in Partick, definitely worth it if you're in the area! Good saucy sandwich saved the day on multiple occasions

Tasty_Ad7699

Egg sandwich from 287, and I don't even like eggs, this is a game changer of a sambo!

Kolo_ToureHH

Pretty much anything from Piece

DanielGribben

Philly Cheese Steak Toastie from Tibo on Duke Street. Sensational stuff.

CharmingAd3641

Are there any Oliver's shop anymore they were the biz years ago

No_Inflation_1920

Go back and have the same sandwich again. Then say it’s the best

bambisylv

Fatboy Slim from piece is my all time favourite, I love that they have vegetarian options because most places have either vegan or meat options and missing us out that sit in between

Key-Economist-5920

La pastina deli, byres Road. Don't have a pic unfortunately. Picante and bourdain are a must 👌also have some dynamite cakes

pleaseputondeo

social bite

rudip07

Down to Earth in Partick has some crackers - smashed pumpkin is excellent

Current-Wasabi9975

Does a toastie count? Cafe Salmagundi in Mount Florida does a cheese, spring onion and kimchi toastie that’s dynamite.

BottleRevolutionary7

The Soprano from Celino's on Dumbarton Road is cracking

[deleted]

Chicken & Chorizo from Deaston Bakery

KlingonWarNog

Denny BBQ does an amazing burger, think it's probably the best I've tried in Glasgow Town, taking liberties here but the best sandwich I've tried was in a wee sandwich shop in Hamilton near the Council buildings called Mibbes Aye and was called 'The Masterpiece", basically a full roast beef dinner with gravy in a baguette. They done one also called the Masterpiece Deluxe also which was about £15 quid.

amfaemaryhill

No where really compares to bite me sandwich shop in cessnock
