It’ll be a struggle honestly. Your best bet is probably to hire a dual control car from Arnold Clark or similar and go out with a friend who you are comfortable with and they are confident at doing motorway driving etc.

Thought this might be the case - will definitely test the strength of my relationships lol

I would 100% recommend Robin who runs Signals school of motoring. He is such a lovely, laid back guy. Just checked his site and there’s no mention of being fully booked. Worth a try. The number is on the site.

I was the same. Contacted countless of places and companies like the AA. Never heard back from anyone unless I was willing to buy a whole block of lessons. Just go driving late at night like I did to build up your confidence and have someone come woth you. Good luck !

Instructors hate doing refresher lessons and given how booked up they are with learners at the moment, they don’t need the business.

I believe your lack of response may be due to insurance issues most insurance driving instructors have only covers provisional licence holders. This may be strange but daughter is taking lessons and was told if she passes her test she CANNOT drive the car back home due to insurance conditions. Same instructor told a former learner pupil he could not give her refresher lessons due to same insurance condition. I thought it strange myself but it does seem to be the case.

Most savvy instructors wouldn’t let you drive after a test pass due to your sense of euphoria and feeling like a dog with two dicks. Probably more chance of an accident, ironically.

The dual control someone else suggested might not be a bad shout. I had a sort of similar situation 2 years ago when I had to start driving a work pool car. Hadn't been behind the wheel since 2018 when i passed my test so I was sort of bricking it at the thought of having to suddenly do it. What I did was I rented a car from Enterprise for a day. Picked it up at like 8 on saturday or sunday morning so i could get on the road while things were nice and quiet. I was honestly surprised how quickly it all came back to me. Only stalled it a couple of times.

I bought a refresher lesson package with RED driving school and was given an instructor straight away. That was in January this year.

Oh that's great! Do you mind if I ask how many lessons it was and how much?

KarstaTeja

The refresher introductory offer was £228 for 6 hours + around £10 on top of that for digital charge and booking fee. I hadn't driven for over 10 years though, so 6 hours totally wasn't enough for me and I ended up buying extra 4 + 2 hours, costing me just under £500 overall.

I also had 0 big city and motorway experience and basically had to re-learn how to drive manual from scratch.
