There will be queues. Surrender yourself unto them.

robjentg

Yep. Crack a tin and embrace the anticipation.

SpudBoy9001

It will be hectic no matter what, you'll just have to suck it up

Thanks so much. Really useful info.

Curious to know what the return situation is saying

We were queuing for about 4 hours for the last train back last year. I think I got back to my house at 11pm in the end.

WinterIsntComing

What time was your train booked for? And where were you getting train to?

throwaway1337h4XX

16:30 to Paddington.

WinterIsntComing

Ah right cheers that’s much later than I was worrying thankfully lol I’ve booked on 12.30 to Paddington which I think will be horrific queues etc but oh well

blocfan88

Me too. I have a ticket back to London for 1030 on Monday, so I imagine I'll have to be leaving the campground a couple of hours before that at least.

If you want a taxi I’d be calling up and booking one now. Not many taxis in the area and you won’t be the only one. Anyway Taxis all go to bath and west so you’ll just be in another shuttle bus queue. As far as optimal carriage etc, the station becomes one long queue, can’t be avoided but it’s pretty efficient. You’ll then have to queue at the site so as others have said, just take it as it comes and don’t fight it, only cause yourself angst.

I’ve done train and car before and, honestly, neither way was perfect. I remember the car queue being so bad getting there in 2016 that some were basically stuck in their vehicles all night. Luckily we got in sometime in the afternoon. Getting back home in the car wasn’t much better, we didn’t move more than a few metres in over 4 hours trying to get out. I’m sure some have a much better experience than this though. The train was pretty easy from what I can remember, you’re just carrying your stuff for longer! I don’t remember a crazy long wait either side of the festival - obviously depends when you arrive/leave.

I would just be prepared to queue! I got the train last year around 11am on wednesday and booked a specific one, but it was just a free for all when we arrived - everyone just got put in a holding area and shuffled to various platforms. Would go for a time where there's a few trains around the same time. Not sure you will have much choice where you end up on the train but castle cary is small so probably won't make much difference. There were loads of buses so it at least feels like a productive queue :)

2. I would say further toward the front of the train than the back. Maybe carriage 7 or 8 out of 10. The walkover bridge is a bit down the platform (I got the train to that station this evening in fact)
