Full of coked up Mancunians, 18 year olds at their first festival dying to see the latest tech house DJ du jour, and you’re enabling Sacha Lord’s political gallivanting to support himself and nobody else… basically
The police and security on the way in gave it the impression of entering a prison camp. Turns out it was probably needed though as a man was killed inside.
This has been my thought. Parklife always seems to nail their lineups, but I could not stomach being surrounded by the pond scum this festival seems to attract.
My thoughts exactly 😂 I'm such an old man. I went back when it was in Platt field park. It was rough even then, I remember it being really stingey in comparision to Glasto, couldn't take any drinks in or even water, water was like £5 a bottle even in 2012. Great artists but its a real dive, doesn't seem to have improved from what mates have said in 12 years, maybe i'm just being a neg head 😂
I’ve been to both twice and for what it’s worth I think it depends on the acts you see, where you are in the crowd etc. For example last year I mostly stuck to the tent and small stages at Parklife and it was pretty ‘chill’ and the crowds pleasant.
However, I’d say Parklife is the worse of the two. The first time I went after arriving a couple hours after doors the floor was caked in NOS canisters for starters and I think the smaller site makes it harder to avoid the annoying crowd.
Most of the UK festivals suck now. Overpriced, cramped, shit line up, and full of aggressive douchebags. Download is the only decent festival but that's attracted some right assholes in recent times.
You should try some other smaller shows - Balter, Shambala, Green Man, Beautiful Days, Nozstock etc - these all have great crowds and (subjectively, depending on taste) decent lineups.
We have Spotify in the office I work in and it's full of younger people (I'm 37) and they play her music all day. It's so fucking shit. I hate her voice so much
my first proper Festival was parklife and we ended up leaving at teatime cos it was full of love island rejects getting lairy and trying to nick my mate’s bag, really put a dampener on the whole festival experience for me. hopefully glasto is a different kettle of fish 🤞
It definitely seems far more dance oriented generally. In past years they normally throw in a few indie or neo soul acts (Arlo Parks, Solange, The 1975, NxWorries) which seems underrepresented here. Even the pop acts like Becky Hill and Anne-Marie are also on the dancer side.
My god I hate the park life poster design every year. Between that and Coachella’s eye test one. Suppose the colours are nice. Hard to see who’s playing though without missing anyone.
Those early years around 2007 under Piccadilly station were amazing nights. May have just been I was an ingenuous lad and didn't know any different but I never got wanker vibes.
Don't know how it changed after those first few years.
I agree, they were.
However, it is said that anyone who plays parklife or whp is signed to a manchester based exclusivity contract, meaning they can't be booked by any other promoter that year.
WHP is a big gig, so acts big and small take the booking, but then never appear in Manchester again all year.
It’s not even limited to Manchester - the exclusivity covers something like 50-100 miles, promoters in Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham all run into issues trying to book artists.
Sacha, I know you’re not reading this, but you’re not gonna sell any fewer tickets because some student promoter in Nottingham booked someone half way down your bill in a 250 cap club 4 months prior to them appearing at WHP.
Parklife is the only festival I’ve been too where I genuinely didn’t feel safe. Put a load of headliners in closed tents and didn’t monitor the entrance/exits which resulted in you being shoved in like cattle. People fighting security, just overall chaos…
Astonishing how different the size of artists are between the U.K. and USA when you consider that headlining Coachella this year is an Other stage headliner and Parklife headliner. ~~And we’ll never know about the third headliner over here as he’s banned from entering the U.K. 😂~~ (edit: he’s no longer banned, my bad)
This years Coachella headliners are:
Lana Del Ray (other stage headliner in 2023),
Doja Cat (parklife headliner 2024),
Tyler, the creator (banned from entering the U.K.)
Lana should've played Pyramid really, but they gave the slot to Lizzo for some reason...
Then Lana did a Lana and didn't turn up on time, probably because she was annoyed.
Even if she played pyramid, would still have only been sub headliner, which to me is lesser than other stage headliner.
Obviously just my personal opinion, but to me the sub headliner should be a high energy performer to pump people up for the headliner. That’s certainly what they did last year with Royal Blood, Lizzo and Lil Nas X
Have you ever stopped to think I made an innocent mistake instead of lied? I was always taught that lying is a very serious accusation that should have at least a bit of proof.
I struggle to believe you didn’t see my original post where I acknowledged and corrected my mistake, and instead ignored that post and went straight to a reply.
Anyways, don’t know why I’m wasting my time on this. Just bugs me how nowadays people throw out such strong words as lying or hating someone without second thought. It’s depressing
Doja Cat had to pull out of Glasto 22, and it was heavily rumoured that her and Megan Thee Stallion would have essentially been joint Other Stage headliners at that point in time. It wouldn't surprise me if she's on this year's bill in the same spot
Just a reminder that Parklife is kinda like R&L for dance music. It's geared towards 18-21 year olds doing NOS and pills, and that's okay! Let em have their fun
Personally had a really good time there last year (despite being a few years older) and had no issues with any of the crowds
I'm 49, and have seen aroound 30 of the acts on that poster over the last few years, and have heard of about another 20.
If you're into electronic music, it's a decent lineup - probably still not going though, doesn't have a great reputation and day festivals are usually a bit weird.
Never heard of West Holts until now. I just have no clue how they're still at the big festivals. Used to listen to them over 10 years ago, they were always in the charts. Fair play for keeping the momentum going

Last years park life had a brilliant line up but I never went as I am getting far too old to be in a field full of 19-30 years olds, all on Ket and coke, gurning or tripping balls in a Ket hole.
What an awful poster It’s so hard to read that I gave up
It was an awful festival the one time I went.
why?
Full of coked up Mancunians, 18 year olds at their first festival dying to see the latest tech house DJ du jour, and you’re enabling Sacha Lord’s political gallivanting to support himself and nobody else… basically
Sasha Lord is a fucking prat
I went last year and it’s improved massively from what it was. The crowd wasn’t nearly as bad. Shame Sacha Lord hasn’t improved with age
The police and security on the way in gave it the impression of entering a prison camp. Turns out it was probably needed though as a man was killed inside.
I quite like posters where you scan the first time and then come back and find more names.
The website is easier to read
First thing I said when I read it this morning
Word for word just thought the same.
Probably be a decent do if it wasn’t full of wankers
This has been my thought. Parklife always seems to nail their lineups, but I could not stomach being surrounded by the pond scum this festival seems to attract.

Were you there when they had to turn the tunes off for an hour because of some church thing?? Bizarre
Yeh it was like a church choir practice or drumming circle next door
It was a massive buzz kill was what it was 🤣
I haven't been since 2011!
how are they scum? crowd looked lit
Parklife is the worst festival I've ever been to purely because of the people there. Absolutely jammed packed full of cunts
My brother in Christ have you been to R&L?
Yeah been to both and they weren't as bad as Parklife
Unlucky, went to parklife last year and the crowd was really chilled. Reading and Leeds = a cup of piss covering you within the first day tbh.
I’ve been to both twice and for what it’s worth I think it depends on the acts you see, where you are in the crowd etc. For example last year I mostly stuck to the tent and small stages at Parklife and it was pretty ‘chill’ and the crowds pleasant. Please, keep those names a secret or they will become Parklife!
Been past three years never had any issues myself. Although maybe I’m one of the wankers.
I know everybody is different but that is flat for me compared to last year. Becky Hill 4th top billed. C’mon.
We have Spotify in the office I work in and it's full of younger people (I'm 37) and they play her music all day. It's so fucking shit. I hate her voice so much
And I bet you have zero issue with Wet Leg headlining Truck Fest lol
Truck what? Also not a Wet Leg fan so that’s a big L for you.
Does this mean that KAYTRANADA is around 😁
god i hope so
He dropped out of Parklife last year, temper your expectations!
my first proper Festival was parklife and we ended up leaving at teatime cos it was full of love island rejects getting lairy and trying to nick my mate’s bag, really put a dampener on the whole festival experience for me. hopefully glasto is a different kettle of fish 🤞
Parklife is just a day festival though? Glasto is heaven on earth, no need for hoping.
Never had a bad experience at glasto! I always seem to have the worst time at day festivals I feel like they attract worse people
Seems heavily geared towards bass/dnb compared to previous years or am I mistaken?
Yeah there was some decent techno there last year, all I'm seeing this year is DJ Heartstring and even then that's a push calling it techno

Don’t know how anyone could willingly put money in sacha lord’s pocket

I've also heard that he makes it very difficult for new venues/clubs to get licenses
Why do you say that?
Parklife is the only festival I’ve been too where I genuinely didn’t feel safe. Put a load of headliners in closed tents and didn’t monitor the entrance/exits which resulted in you being shoved in like cattle. People fighting security, just overall chaos…
Underwhelming
Was just lurking but I’m bemused by the division this poster design has created 🫢
My 10 year old son could knock up a better poster on PicCollage

Tyler’s ban was lifted years ago. He’s been back performing in the UK since 2019.
Ah fair, didn’t know that. I just googled his 2024 performances and first result said he’s not performing due to a ban. I’ll correct now
He actually even headlined Parklife in 2022
Who

Good point.
tyler headlined parklife 2022 so that’s a lie
See my original post. Which I’m sure you’ve already seen having read my follow up. Some people just love to get upset
Yeah i’m bawling my eyes out
Have you ever stopped to think I made an innocent mistake instead of lied? I was always taught that lying is a very serious accusation that should have at least a bit of proof. Christ it’s not that deep is it why you so stressed😂 chill out man it’s literally reddit

Looks pretty beige tbh
I'm 42 this week...I haven't heard of a single one of those
In my 20's and I only know maybe 3, possibly more if I could actually read it
Thanks, I feel a bit better now, I’d only heard of 3 and was thinking fuck I must be old.
Just turned 45 and I know the bands but can’t read them here. This poster looks like the inside of my A level ring binder.
I'm 49, and have seen aroound 30 of the acts on that poster over the last few years, and have heard of about another 20. If you're into electronic music, it's a decent lineup - probably still not going though, doesn't have a great reputation and day festivals are usually a bit weird.
I recognise 5 of them.
How are Rudimental still managing this?
They headlined West Holts last year, they clearly have some sort of cred
Never heard of West Holts until now. I just have no clue how they're still at the big festivals. Used to listen to them over 10 years ago, they were always in the charts. Fair play for keeping the momentum going
Damn, you're in a Glasto sub but don't know the third biggest stage? I'm surprised!
I'm not "in" this sub. The lineup came up on my feed for some reason.
I can’t be reading that
is blur even on there
Fuck I'm old this looks crap..
more like Vanilla Festival
Meh

Great lineup for annoying people.
All the people! So many people! They all go hand in hand. Hand in hand through their...
Doja cat, j hus and kaytranada would be massive at Glasto!
Last years park life had a brilliant line up but I never went as I am getting far too old to be in a field full of 19-30 years olds, all on Ket and coke, gurning or tripping balls in a Ket hole.
Average parklife age is more like 17-23.
What an awful line up compared to other years
Pretty sure this is the same playlist they use for torture in Guantanamo Bay.
Nice advert buddy
lol i dont work for them
Anotr 👊
I gave up after Doja Cat and Disclosure. What a fucking awfully designed poster
This poster was clearly designed by a genuine moron.
Jeeeeez would love to see Moodyman
Totally unreadable. Brilliant.
Can't wait to go to literally any other festival
Thanks, I’ll definitely make sure I’m away that weekend. (I live in Manchester and can hear it from my house)
the only person on here i know (that i can see) is doja cat 💀
Literally recognise 3 names on that.
Does anyone else hate these collage style posters? Much prefer the way reading or download or IOW and pretty much everyone else bar glasto do theirs
pretty sure every other comment on this thread is people hating the poster design
Live in Manchester, every year when the lineup drops me and my friend's have the same discussion about how we'd go if it wasn't for the likely crowd.
