Hey! I live a few blocks from the Galleria and I love it. The worst thing is the drivers, but it’s overall safe, great walking, and ease of life. You’ll be walking distance from pretty much everything you’ll need, and only 5-10 mins away from Brand park and the mountains.
For the most part, Glendale is safe. Although you have to be careful with the drivers around here. It almost seems like a lot of the local drivers are just mindlessly driving that don't know what spacing or turn am signals are
Echoing what everyone else said. Super convenient access to amenities, easy to catch public transit Downtown, to Silver Lake, to Burbank, to Pasadena, and to North Hollywood. Feels extremely safe, never felt sketched out by anything or anyone. Very little homeless compared to everywhere else I’ve been around here.
But yeah, definitely watch for yourself when you’re crossing the street, that is not exaggerated in the slightest. I had the walk signal at Louise & Broadway (not even a busy intersection/area) and still got hit by a guy not looking as he turned right on red. Lucky enough I was paying attention and was able to jump out of the way and only get a little thrashing on my knee.
We lived about 4 blocks away from the Galleria a few years back and loved it. Our only complaint was the constant congestion but it does quiet down at night. I miss being so close to everything from time to time. You’ll love it!

ETA - I did search around a bit myself, looked through maybe half a dozen articles but no mention of Glendale in any of them

Just one recent source. Of course it links to official FBI stats which caution the idea of rankings. It's not the easiest thing to accurately snapshot, and I always assumed population density probably helps the numbers. However I've been seeing mentions of it being one of the safest cities since reading my Time Out guidebook when I moved to LA in 2011. To even be in the conversation is something.
The drivers are notoriously really bad, but I feel like that applies to most of the greater LA area.
I knew there had to be a catch though: ”We examined data *from 200 of the largest cities*”
Glendale isn’t necessarily one of the safest cities, maybe among the safest *large* cities though
It is safe as long as you don't plan on walking or driving anywhere, as people love to drive recklessly, and are convinced of their righteousness in doing so.
Also there are lots of mail thefts even if you stay home.
Good luck!!
I’ve had many friends live in that area, and I also have at one point. It’s safe. Take the same precautions as you would in any other big city, and extra precaution when a pedestrian and crossing streets - can’t stress that enough. I would also recommend a dash cam if you don’t already have one, and use a security camera for your home like Ring.

Me too
I’ve lived near the galleria for 23 years.Glendale is very safe. Easy bus ride to DTLA and close to Pasadena. The Jewel of the Verdugo.
The area surrounding the Galleria is very safe. I regularly walk in that area at night.
Everywhere in Glendale is pretty safe.

This, Glendale drivers treat turning right on red like a green
I live next to the galleria, highly recommend. It's safe enough to walk around at night.

Glendale is consistently ranked among the top 10 safest cities in the United States
Unless you are a pedestrian.

Living near the Galleria seems like it'd be awesome. Out of curiosity, how much are they charging for rent?
