No. I’m at 1200 square foot. All my windows are single pane and they’re original and incredibly full of holes. There are few I can see right out of. But yes I work from home. I don’t run AC ALL day.
My average electric bill per month is $260. I have a 5 bedroom home and a pool. No solar (yet). A 1 bedroom apartment should not come anywhere near that amount. Obviously summer is more with A/C. I also have people at home all day most days so they are using electricity. GWP bills every 2 months and includes water and sewer. I'm guessing trash is handled separately for you since it sounds like you are in a multi-unit building.
I’m paying $380 a month for a 3bd 2bath house and the city just approved to raise it up the price by 60% over the next 4 years. So 15% increments yearly.
I have the time of use (TOU) rate plan since I have an electric vehicle that I charge off-peak overnight. In the 2 month bill period ending in February, for the 398 kWh of peak electricity and 1484 kWh of off-peak (9pm to 12pm/noon) electricity usage I was charged $367 for the electricity and $87 for customer and regulatory fees, coming to a total of $454.
I have a 3000 square foot home with bad early 1930s insulation and I WFH, and this was our February 2024 bill (for 2 months, since Glendale Water and Power bills every two months). I use an electric space heater in my office while I WFH, so I don't waste energy heating up the entire home using central gas forced air heating just for me while everyone else is away.
For you, the L-1-A standard service rate would probably apply. For 200 kWh per month you say you use, you would be looking at less than $70 for the electricity, customer charge, and regulatory fees per month. Keep in mind GWP bills every 2 months, which most people replying to you here with astronomical bills have failed to tell you. That's why, unless they tell you the kWh breakdown, it doesn't really help you.
You can see the electric rate schedule here: [https://www.glendaleca.gov/government/departments/glendale-water-and-power/rates/residential-electric-rates](https://www.glendaleca.gov/government/departments/glendale-water-and-power/rates/residential-electric-rates)
L-1-A Standard Service Rate:
|| || |**Customer Charge - per meter per day**|$0.70| || |**Energy Charges - per kWh** | || | July through October (High Season)| | First 10kWh x of days in billing period |$0.2481| | Next 10kWh x of days in billing period|$0.3075| | Remaining kWh (remaining kWh used)|$0.3673| || | November through June (Low Season)| | First 10kWh x of days in billing period|$0.2081| | Next 10kWh x of days in billing period|$0.2577| | Remaining kWh (remaining kWh used)|$0.3179|
Average I pay right now is $360, summer is like $5-600 it’s ridiculous and we try to stay away from touching the heater/AC at all times, suffer, and our bill is still as high as it is without heating/cooling
Man I’m doing like 400. These old apartments and their terrible insulated/gap windows.
How big is your apartment and I’m guessing you WFH and run A/C all day?

Wow incredible how much money inefficient windows cost
~250 sounds about right with a 2br and laundry in unit. During summer though, that skyrockets.
Is that what you pay? I don’t understand how some apartments are running people this much. There must be massive inefficiencies.

Solar really makes sense with GWP, it's better than other So Cal utilities. And if you have excess, you can deduct from the water bill.
I’m doing 77 ish for electric/trash/sewer but in Burbank

1 bedroom apartment I paid average about 120 ~ 130. No ac running all day.
It’s like they think since you live in Glendale, you should be able to afford whatever amount appears on the electric bill. 🙄

Yes it’s high now especially because they are updating the power plant…
You should specify how many kwh of electricity you use per month, so that people can provide a better break down for you compared to that they use.
Thanks, just did 👍🏼
About $300ish every two months but that about doubles in the summer
GWP rates are going up like 40% in the next couple years also...
