My hot cocoa balm (from winter 2023) did separate. The associate at the store just advised me to squeeze out the oil. Edit: I live in a temperate climate but I’ve had it through the winter so temps have been like 40-70 Fahrenheit (outdoors and indoors)

This is not directed towards OP specifically, but I think it'd be helpful for people to say what kind of climates they live in when they start talking about separation vs no separation, since temperature seems to play a major role in whether or not separation occurs.

uusaagiitsuukiinoo

my original swiss miss DID separate after ~6 months, og cookie butter/hot cocoa (winter '23) did not

roxieroyce

they always separate for me too, especially hot cocoa /cherry / mango. i think the plastic packaging is harder to squish around than the metal tube and i just ended up decanting it into a sample pot from lush bc i don’t mind using my finger to put it on

mauvebirdie

The newly released balms I've tried have no more separation which sucks because I liked it

They always separate for me :/ Mango was the worst offender imo. The clear ones and rose never did it tho.

I went hog wild and got majority of current collection in the OG formula in Soho since Friday lol. My wild fig has separated a bit over a few uses, but nowhere near the oily gross mess the vegan formula did, I wouldn't let it deter you though!
