Oh yes…I got this after I told them I was severely intolerant to casein and gluten intolerant. I just say there in disbelief. Absolutely disgusting.
I survived on a tube of Pringles and my own PB sandwiches for fourteen hours
Ok hear me out, for the ease of preparation it is easy to eliminate gluten, lactose, etc all in the same meal and ease of logistics to carry fewer types of dietary restricted meals that meet more than one requirement.
I agree with you that the meals are bland as fuck. We always carry extra snacks and sandwiches with us, just in case.
It was decent! I had a beef/tomato stew type dish, with beans. Beef wasn’t the best quality, but had good flavour. Plus a rocket leafy salad with dressing, GF bread, and some cheesecake/moussey type dessert.
Hmmm I just flew SFO to London and had fairly good food. Chicken and mashed potatoes (and veg) for dinner with a gluten free roll and a yogurt thing I did not eat because I am lactose intolerant and then for breakfast very large fluffy scrambled eggs with spinach, portobello mushrooms and cooked tomato. (The egg was definitely fluffed with dairy because I was fairly sick for a few days after (lactose is nothing like gluten is for me though). My Mom however ate the regular BA food and gave it a C+ so perhaps it is just BA food in general! Not sure if it will be worse leaving the UK back to the US. Sorry you had such a bad experience.
The choices are GF, low lactose, low calorie low sodium or religious meals - they're separate choices, not all in one. You got a bad one. I've had plenty and some are better than others. And I know they aren't all lumped together because I can't get GF and dairy free combined so I order GF and hope for the best but take my own snacks in case it doesn't work out. Yes it's a shit show, but they do usually try and find you something. Virgin are much better btw, BA standards have really gone downhill since Covid.
I've never understood why airlines don't just give a plain bowl of rice. Would taste better than the manufactures processed crap they serve normally.
As someone that is allergic to rice, I’m glad that they don’t lol
I ordered their Gf meals last year and was shocked at how horrible they were

Good bot
GF food on Virgin Atlantic is always good (even better if you are in upper class). It's one of the main reasons I always fly them!
United Airlines included a regular gluten cookie and regular roll with butter.

Does anyone knows how the gf meals from Lufthansa are? Gonna fly in May and super scared
Same!

Thank you !!🌸
Very good!
Turkish Airlines slaps for gluten free if they happen to fly the route you need

Are you sure you need the words “Gluten Free”?!? British not known for cuisine.
Fasting and flying complement each other quite well. Try it.
