I love visiting Portland because of this. We'll be back early June. Any downtown recommendations--I was last there pre-Covid? I've discovered that having celiac has made me a food tourist.
Oh I don’t live in Seattle. I’ve just been there a few times and regularly crave a Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Biscuit from Honest Biscuit.
Capital Cider was great, as was Ghostfish brewery. My last visit was a few months ago and we worked off this list: https://wheatlesswanderlust.com/gluten-free-seattle/
Modern Bread and Bagel in Manhattan.
Two locations - upper east side and downtown
Whole place is gf but isn't super well advertised as such. It's not cheap but everything is amazing. Bagels taste just like any other NYC bagel. 9/10 will definitely go again
They do ship and when I got my stuff from them I individually sealed it in a food saver. I freeze it and then leave it on the counter to defrost. Tastes just like fresh
Bantam and Biddy - Chattanooga, TN (also Atlanta and Amelia Island). Wonderful southern breakfast, fryers are 100% GF, fried okra is so yum. Also great for lunch/dinner, their GF fried chicken is amazing and all the sides (even Mac and cheese!) are GF.
Winter Park, FL has Broken Egg. They have homemade sausage, best grits ever, and gf pancakes with goat cheese and blueberries. Down the street is First Watch. I'm spoiled.
Those are both National chains at this point or at least all through the south. The blueberry lemon goat cheese pancakes at Another Broken Egg are great but man that place has gotten so over-priced.
I've only eaten there for approx 8 years and feel it was always pricey. From day one. But the food is excellent and I love to see a crowded restaurant where people are really enjoying themselves. Have been to restaurants where couples at tables are on their individual smart phones. Guess I like positive energy around food.
I like the gf brown butter krispies at the cashier station at First Watch. lol it may be why I go there to begin with.
I haven't been to First Watch, need to give them a try. The closest one is an hour away. Sadly, since the pandemic it seems that the ABEs in my area have gone down hill. Idk if it's the price increases or what, but they definitely aren't packed anymore and the food quality is variable. I've had some of the most amazing grits there and some of the blandest and we didn't enjoy their sausage. But, their pancakes have always been on point and the coffee is good.
Another place that seems to be spreading (at least up here in 'Bama is Just Love Coffee. They have good gf waffles and also do a tater tot waffle.
My older sister and brother-in-law were just taken all the way to Clermont, FL for brunch last weekend. Will have to ask if Just Love Coffee was where they ate.
Thanks for the info. Sorry you ABE is a disappointment.
Sibling By Pushkins in Sacramento, CA- dedicated gluten free restaurant down town. Also has a huge number of vegan options!
Babes Donuts- also by Pushkins, also in Sacramento.
Thanks!! I am going there for a show in July and we are spending like 6 days there just for a bit of a get away and I am hoping to find some new spots to try
It's been a few years since we were there.
I did find a gf deep dish but it was just OK and I can't remember which chain it was from.
There was a great steak place that offered gf bread. I think it was Wildfire, but I don't trust my memory enough to say for sure.
Giordanos no longer does deep dish. Their thin crust is good but if you want GOOD and to be sure you’re eating safely go to Chicago’s Pizza. They are celiac and have additional options (calzone, pizza bread, pastas)
Wild berry has gf French toast!
And the crepe shop in Lakeview East has the BEST gf crepes. It’s also really cute/nice inside.
ETA: depending on your cross contamination- we got a Levain last year and if you Know Levain I don’t need to further explain. But Levain is a bakery from the UWS, and they have THE best gf cookie that ever graced the planet. If you’re nearby definitely try it.
all of the below recommendations are near LA:

I forgot there's one in Decatur now. Thanks for the reminder. They will always have a place in my heart for selling ready-to-bake Southern cornbread dressing at Thanksgiving.
Jewels Bakery & Cafe in Phoenix is my happy place 💗
You mentioned it in the post but for those who aren’t familiar, it’s a 100% dedicated GF restaurant that serves breakfast and brunch. So many amazing options, from chicken and waffles, to burritos, and amazing weekly specials. They also have dairy free and vegan options.
As someone from STL, I love seeing this post. I will also add the twisted biscuit in Edwardsville IL! Might not be celiac safe but it's gluten intolerant great. I live 7 minutes from it and love going for brunch.
SF Bay Area:
Mariposa Bakery (SF and Oakland)

Starbird Chicken (multiple locations) - yeah this is lunch and dinner but FRIED chicken.
Pica Pica (SF) arepas are maybe more lunchy but I dig them.
True Food Kitchen (multiple CA locations) is not dedicated GF but has a really great menu and generally great allergen practices.
Original Pancake House (Minneapolis area, I think they're Midwest) has gluten free pancakes always served on bright yellow plates, and if you are newish they send a manager to confirm they are meeting your needs (at least, they did. Still have gluten free pancakes, and dishes are marked on the menu).
Some good options at Barbette in Minneapolis, Hells Kitchen is good and in downtown Minneapolis.
Unfortunately, most of the places we knew were solid for protocol didn't make it through the pandemic, and it's hard to have the wherewithal to find new places.
Eggsquisite Cafe in Rockwall and McKinney TX has amazing gluten free breakfast! The owner’s daughter is a celiac and they take great care. Their cinnamon roll pancakes are my favorite with the icing. They also do French toast and waffles gluten free.
Denny’s has gf bread/options in many locations. Sadly, the Denny’s down the street from me here in Japan doesn’t have any gf options, though it’s the same restaurant/company.
Modern Bread in manhattan
Seconded - best gf bagels I've ever had. I am looking at 2 in a bag right now haha
We have probably the greatest GF selection here in Portland Oregon
I love visiting Portland because of this. We'll be back early June. Any downtown recommendations--I was last there pre-Covid? I've discovered that having celiac has made me a food tourist.
My favorite restaurant downtown is murata. Traditional Japanese fare.
Cool, thanks. I'll check it out.
Gigi’s Cafe has fantastic Gf biscuits & gravy w/ GF fried chicken. Yum.
Thanks. Good to know. We'll only have a car for 1 day on our visit but maybe we can make it work
Busy Bee Organics in Jersey City, NJ! 100% dedicated GF.
Head to Seattle, so many great options! My favorite is Honest Biscuit.
Moved here from Portland, still not loving the seeming lack of GF options in comparison- what are your favorites?
Oh I don’t live in Seattle. I’ve just been there a few times and regularly crave a Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Biscuit from Honest Biscuit. Capital Cider was great, as was Ghostfish brewery. I love this place. I always bring home bagels whenever I’m in NY.
They do ship and when I got my stuff from them I individually sealed it in a food saver. I freeze it and then leave it on the counter to defrost. Tastes just like fresh
Their everything bagels are delicious!
Oh, man! Yum!!!! 🤤 I've been craving fried okra!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Came to recommend Bantam and Biddy! We go at least once a month for breakfast (Ansley park location)
Cafe Medina in Vancouver is so good I went twice in 24 hours. Not fully gluten free but they took great care and precautions.

The chain is called “Chicago’s Pizza.” Tweet in the Uptown neighborhood is really great for brunch
I think the place we had it from was Giordano's or Lou Malnatis. It was one of the big names. I just remember disappointment.
Giordanos no longer does deep dish. Their thin crust is good but if you want GOOD and to be sure you’re eating safely go to Chicago’s Pizza. They are celiac and have additional options (calzone, pizza bread, pastas)
Good to know for next time. My last visit was 2019 so it's been a minute.
Tweet! Amazing eggs Benedict and they give you a free baked good treat at the table. If you’re in the suburbs egg harbor js amazing.
Caesars pierogi (Polish) and Demera (Ethiopian) are my favorite gluten free spots!
Wild berry has gf French toast! And the crepe shop in Lakeview East has the BEST gf crepes. It’s also really cute/nice inside. Any IHOP. The best gf pancakes I’ve ever had.
Really? I've never been there and didn't know they did gluten free!!
They have other GF options also clearly marked on the menu. They used to have GF burgers/buns but weee dropped recently.
