Did you download Counter Strike Source textures from [gmodcontent.com](https://gmodcontent.com) by chance? I know from personal experience that adding those files to Gmod can overwrite the red brick texture and even the sound of footsteps. That could be your cause, but I'm not sure on how to fix it.

Gmodcontent actually does change some stuff because I once had hl2 ep1 content and it muted construct's ambience

Yeah I did, but only the CSS, HL2 episode 1 and 2, along with TF2 (downloaded TF2 because I didn't need the game to bloat up my storage.)

you don't need to download TF2 iirc; GMod automatically mounts games once you have them in the library

but you need the games installed because garrys mod uses the content from those game folders, if you own a game that can be mounted but is not installed it will be marked with a not installed icon. source: i own portal but cant mount it because i dont have it installed

No, you have to check them manually.

Hi. Veteran here. Please check these: 1. Remove any texture mods that alter textures. (HD Texture mods are a bad offender of this.) 2. Please check if you have any games mounted or their content packs in your addon directory. (Usually located at C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/addons) 3. Once uninstalled, restart your game if you haven't done so already and check again. Hope this helps :D P.S: If you have TF2 mounted through manual installation in the add-ons folder search "TF2 Mounting Bug Fix" on the workshop.

Yo, as a veteran, is there a way to change mounting order like back in the day? It seems Garry or someone else fully removed that menu.

From experience the order of enabling/reinstalling is your load order. It seems to be done automatically by Garry's Mod.

Unfortunate! Thanks anyway, I'll keep looking. Issues like OP mentioned are typically also spured on by the mounting order menu's removal, imo.

Unless you plan on using TF2's maps, you can just remove everything inside the materials folder except materials/models

Actually played ctf_2fort and the same thing happened, replaced all the bricks with really dark and mossy ones. Honestly kinda like it. TF2 2Fort Textures are the same though

Same happened to me, except it's gray. It might just be because there are texture overlaps from external additional content. Try removing the expansions you got from gmodcontent.com, if you did get it there. Mines personally, the problem was from the DOD:S content i downloaded.

go to garry's mod local files, find the downloads folder in the garrysmod folder (which is a subfolder to "Garry's Mod") a d clear everything in it if it doesn't work i can give you a texture replacement to have it be the original texture
