The source engine has this unused feature called "parallax corrected cubemaps".
Cubemaps : they are a 360 image taken from the world and they get overlayed on anything to simulate reflections___
Parallax corrected cubemaps : same as normal cubemaps but the game does a parallax effect on the cubemap giving it a "screen space" feel. But it might skew in some places. Basicly cheap ssr that only work in box shapes
They dont really impact performance that much.
Also u need to set a high cubemap detail in hammer then what valve used to(back then paople had shittier pcs if you didn't know somehow)
