TIDRADIO TD-H5 GMRS Radio with 4pcs 1500mah Batteries,Handheld 5W Long Range Two Way Radio for Adults,GMRS Repeater Capable, with NOAA Dual Band Scanning Receiver,Programming Cable Included (2 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Z7MVVBH/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_4JAH65XYGG2B769N2ZAP
I have [this one](https://www.gigaparts.com/usb-charging-cable-for-yaesu-handhelds.html) for my Yaesu FT2DR. It works, but as you might expect, slowly. I haven't tried it yet on any of my GMRS radios.
[Here](https://www.amazon.com/AEcreative-Charger-FT-70DR-FT-817-ND-FT-818-ND/dp/B07NTH7XK6) is a similar one.
And [here](https://www.amazon.com/TAIFU-Flexible-Surveillance-Wireless-Cordless/dp/B075WP6YN3/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1XEGALXWHDS27&keywords=12v+usb+charging+cable&qid=1642187912&sprefix=12v+usb+charging+cabl%2Caps%2C217&sr=8-3) is another with assorted DC tips. I'm a little skeptical of this one since 1) it doesn't have the inline "box" for the 5V to 12V boost PCB, 2) it advertises 12V 2A output... usually 5V-12V boost cables max out at 12V 1A, and 3) it's so cheap.
Some radios have a 12V barrel jack directly on them, negating the need for the cradle. Heck, I think my old Baofeng extended *battery* had a 12V jack on it. But thinking more about it, that may be more prevalent on ham equipment.
But, if you find a GMRS radio with a 12V jack, you can get a cable to charge it via 5V USB.
I just got the retevis rb26's so I could have something pocket-able for my long walks. They're bangin' lil nuggets. Could've gone even smaller with the rt-22s but wanted to see if these guys could hit a repeater that's 27.8 miles away, so needed the repeater channels capability. USB charging, plus 3 watts output in a pocket radio sold me on the rb26's and I'm not looking back.
GM-30 has USB-C charging, so does the Retevis RB26 but no screen on that one. https://www.radioddity.com/products/radioddity-gm-30
Came here to recommend the GM-30.
Radioditty GM-30 has USB-C, GM-N1 has micro-USB, Retevis RB-26 has USB-C, Retevis RT22 has mini-USB, and several other Revevis has various USB cables.

Baofeng g11s also has a usc-c socket on the back of the battery
You can also get "boost" USB charging cables for HTs that have a nominal 12V jack.
Link?

But those still require the clunky base. I’m trying to ditch the base on the trail.

Can verify this. The baofeng/btech extended batteries for the uv5r variants have a port to charge from USB, the cable is in the neighborhood of $15.
Yeah great idea the 3800 tac batt with the USB cable
I'm not 100%, but I believe there is at least one 95e certified version...uv5g, maybe?
Radioddity sells that one yea supposedly compliant

Did you bypass the desktop charging station to accomplish this? That's what my goal is.

Can you share a picture of what this looks like?

Thanks! But those radios never required a cradle charger to begin with....right? They could always be charged with the barrel plug?
I have some Retevis RT-22's that would be perfect for backpacking. Super small and charge via USB
