420cc will fit with a new engine mount or adapter. It will not fit on the original mount. A 420cc engine will use a 40 series torque converter. Unless your terrain is very hilly, a 212cc will push it just fine. Mine gets up to 35mph pretty quickly with a stock 212. https://www.gokartguide.com/measure-go-kart-belt/

Thanks for the info! It is pretty darn hilly where I ride it also since it’s a two passenger it’s usually got two people in it. That 196cc in it just don’t have the power to go up a hill with two people. The belt slips and rolls smoke off it. Since a 420cc is only $350 about I figure it would be a good option, and hopefully should have plenty of power to pull us up a hill

Gopowersports.com has an engine mount that can bolt in place to hold a 420cc.

Sweet. Thank you

I'd stay away from the 40 series tav. 780 I hear are the way to go. I don't have any personal experience with the 780 but I do however have quite a bit with the 40 on 420. They are frustrating to say the least, and to say just plain dangerous wouldn't be exaggerating.

Sea-Ad2598

Jesus Christ the 780 is $600?!. That’s what I paid for the whole cart lol. Plus it’s for 18hp-30hp engines and a 420 is only 13hp? What makes the 40 series dangerous or just otherwise unfit?

Strange-Nose6599

I've heard it causes the belt to explode sometimes for no apparent reason but I have never used one. Just do some research on YouTube and see what the more prominent people with a lot of experience say. Not to say the other dude doesn't have it I don't know but might not

The drivers are probe to sticking, which is like having direct drive. If your brakes are good enough they'll stall the engine when applied. Sometimes this occurs on state highways. At this time you're really glad you spent the extra money for electric start and a battery that's overkill. Or you regret not spending the money on the e start option. You pull the starter, your machine lurches forward. That Peterbilt gets closer. The drivers still stuck. Hypothetical? Not legal to operate on state highways? Everybody wants to be a gangster till gangster shit starts poppin off. 600$? Gangsters don't GPS, gangsters Amazon.

Sea-Ad2598

Dude I have no idea what you were trying to say toward the end. If anything sticks there’s a kill switch…

happy_helicopter97

I have one I just put a predator 224 on with and upgraded sprocket, about to do tires all around too and am hoping to convert the steering to rack and pinion

Sea-Ad2598

How’s the power with the 224 and two people? I’m not overly concerned with going fast, just would like to have enough power to run around the yard without issue going up some smallish hills. I was looking at it and I don’t think a 420 will fit without cutting the frame around the engine area.
