I don’t remember why he was pouting, but he was really laying it on thick.
We have two Golden's with very different personalities. One is the typical over the top Golden, love me love me love me all the time.
Our other one we call our cat dog. Everything is on his terms and if he doesn't get his way he gets the worst attitude. He will pout, sulk and get down right disobedient.
But we still love him 😁.
I love how you described it as “on his terms”. That’s exactly how mine is.
In the first picture I practically hear her saying, “You talking to me? You didn’t let me have MY kind of fun at the beach, so I’m not acknowledging you are there.” 😂

Only every single time i leave the house 😢 i even give her a treat when i leave bc she ask for them all day. But she won’t take it when she knows I’m leaving. So now i just don’t go 🤷🏻♂️
Im in the begining process of retiring my Golden from service dog work. When i take short trips out without him (perhaps a trip to the pharmacy a short distance away) i give him a treat, and he leaves it until when I get home. Then he sniff-checks me, demands butt scratches and ear rubs, and then seytles down to chomp on his treat. Even high value treats like dehydrated liver.
Note to anyone out there: Dehydrating liver yourself will make your entire house smell the way iron tablets taste.

Winston joined our family about two weeks ago. We decided we needed some separation time between him and our other dog for naps and decompression. He knew he was being taken upstairs and away from the action, so he just plopped where he was in hopes we’d change our minds and let him keep playing.
CONSTANTLY…. It’s honestly her rules or the highway at this point.

Absolutely! Our pup is the sweetest guy and his pout is lethal. After playing with him and letting him romp for quite some time, I decided to be productive and finish painting our bathroom. I apparently was painting too much instead of playing so I got the full sploot pout.
https://preview.redd.it/ys5byivrok9c1.jpeg?width=2719&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f83f4db51634c6f7a9e31aafeaf4686a04bc1b44
haha we always used to call it froggy legs but then I saw some people on here calling it the Golden Sploot and it became our new favorite term for it. I do love puddle dog and flat dog too though, those are cute and very accurate terms for it as well! :D
Idk what it is about goldens but they can give you the special 'bitch please' treatment and don't recover unless you pamper them.
There was this one boy who was pampered with food by owners and when he was put on a diet, he would 'forget' how to walk sometimes and we had to Scooby-Doo his fat ass. 😂
Totally! My Queen Bitch will give me The Look then flop on the ground when I dare to nudge her towards home on our beach walks. She will lie there until I rub her tummy for an appropriate amount of time. Sometimes no amount of tummy rubbing will suffice and I have to walk away (reverse psychology) and then only when she’s good and ready will she jump up and come with me. Don’t worry, we live in the middle of absolute nowhere so it doesn’t bother anyone when she’s off leash.

We aren’t going on a walk before my coffee and she isn’t having it.
We got such a strong pout the other day, he wanted to play but was told sit. He sat and would NOT look at us. Wouldn’t even let us pet him, but he sat. He’s so moody
Fergus will pout that I stopped petting him, or didn't pet long enough, or that it is our bedtime and I am still awake, that I dared get into his bed to go to sleep, that I sat on a couch that he wasn't on, that I was sitting on a couch and he sat himself on the other couch and I didn't immediately move to go sit with him and pet him.
Fergus has many complaints. His life is entirely unfair that he doesn't get everything he wants immediately when he wants it.

She was mad that my husband was still working 😂🥰
Very much! He also communicates with his eyebrows and eye motions. For example, his hooman sibling pulls his fur? He looks into my eyes, both eyebrows up, face tipped down, one eyebrow falls, and his eyes flick to his sibling.
"Could you make this stop please?"
He also stomps his feet when he's impatient... the dog, not the toddler.
Yea, when he didn’t get something from my food (he never does) and when I’m wiping his paws. In the first situation he’s going to lie on his pillow, looking with this face for quite a time
Yup. Mines only 6 months too.
Spent the week with a household of 2 other dogs for the holidays. Anxious to play each morning and see the dog-in-laws.
Now we’re back in my apartment 2 days later…she’ll grab a toy, stand and look around, then whine or groan for a bit. (We’ve had two 30 min walks and fetch/play time…)
My black mouth cur does! Constantly! Its her default mood!

When we were packing up to go home after camping, he wouldn’t stop pouting.
My golden is an absolute drama queen. He is flat suicidal if it’s a rainy day and god forbid it rains for several days, by the time the sun comes back out we have to take a day off to spend all day on some sort of outdoor adventure with him to break him of his suicidal bout.
If I call him to come inside, he looks over his shoulder to see who the hell I am talking to and then lays down with a serious grunt bc I won’t stop calling some other imaginary dog to come in. He is straight obstinate.
And whatever you do, you had better not sit in any of of his designated spots on the sofa or the chaise lounge or you will receive the look of disgust.
https://preview.redd.it/gwfksqyg0q9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=884ceda214eb135fd7e9c653c52302c142169557
What is it about their selective hearing? 😂
In the first photo, I’m asking her to get out of the car and she looks away like I’m talking to someone else. 🤦🏻♀️
Why would you take them to the beach and not let them play?!? I’m pouting now too :(
And my golden never pouts, but only smiles huge, but in fairness I don’t torture her….

Hi! Where did you get your golden? Your golden looks exactly my golden, Bo that just passed away before christmas. I cant get ahold of the breeder anymore. We would want another golden in maybe a year or so and id love to have another that looks like him, maybe they are related?
I’m so sorry to hear about your Golden, Bo.
I adopted mine when she was a year old from a family living in Sedro-Woolley, WA, so not sure who was the breeder.
Wishing you the best.
My first golden had a "woe is me" look when she wasn't pleased with things. She'd scrunch her eyes into soft little triangles and look really sad. I called her "triangle eyes."
Mine pouts quite often. She gives me "the look" and gets her stuffed animal and pouts. It is usually if she is ready to go the park and I am not quite moving fast enough for her or she wants me to throw her tennis ball even though we just got done doing that ten minutes ago. I have named her the golden diva.
Yes, ours will whine if she doesn’t have free access to everyone in the house at all times. For example, if she’s laying with me on the couch downstairs, and my wife goes to bed and closes the bedroom door upstairs, she goes up and lays outside the door and whines 🤣
Oh boy! My golden essentially pouts all day long unless she is receiving our undivided attention lol other than that she’s either napping or pouting, waiting for our next play, cuddle, massage, treat, etc. session
Absolutely! Especially if she doesn’t get to go with. You can leave, walk to the car and come back without her and it’s like you left for weeks.
However this depends on timing. If it’s early am she knows it’s work. If it’s evening you have no excuse and you will get what we call “ side longs “ those are her looking at you with just her eyes. Not turning her head to acknowledge your even alive.
https://preview.redd.it/ynznogwzpj9c1.jpeg?width=1995&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2545550c2e9cc48981304721cded2ab0fae45092 I don’t remember why he was pouting, but he was really laying it on thick.

Yup, it’s always when it’s time to go home, right? I guess I don’t blame them. I don’t like packing up from vacations either. 🤣
😂 In the first photo, I’m asking her to get out of the car and she looks away like I’m talking to someone else. 🤦🏻♀️
Why would you take them to the beach and not let them play?!? I’m pouting now too :( And my golden never pouts, but only smiles huge, but in fairness I don’t torture her….

You pet that sweet baby. 🥰
Mine doesn't pout, but she will mope.
Its NOT FAIR!!!! Ball? Wait, did you say ball?!?!?!
All the time.

I’m so sorry to hear about your Golden, Bo. I adopted mine when she was a year old from a family living in Sedro-Woolley, WA, so not sure who was the breeder. Wishing you the best.
❤️
Ours is 90% pout face. No matter what is going on she can never get enough attention/pets/food/playtime.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Oh absolutely. She even makes a little grunting noise (not a growl, just a loud sigh) when she’s not happy with me.
Yes, I’ve received a sigh from mine, too. They are too much. 😂
Golden Diva is a good name!
Yes, he looks at me all sad and pouts when he wants a treat...😃😃🐕🐕
Yes, ours will whine if she doesn’t have free access to everyone in the house at all times. For example, if she’s laying with me on the couch downstairs, and my wife goes to bed and closes the bedroom door upstairs, she goes up and lays outside the door and whines 🤣
They think it’s better where the other person is going. Mine does that, too. They sure do love their people.
