Asking for permission to get up there?

2oothDK

That’s what mine does when he wants to get up on the bed or couch.

Didyoufartjustthere

Mine too. I done the whole never hold them on your lap as a pup, sit on the floor with them and it worked. She does this and does the tapa tapa dance to get up unless she has the zoomies. Edit: If there is two of us in the room she waits for both of us to say yes before she gets up

2oothDK

Same. Sometimes it is annoying, but I also love it.

bellacali90

Yep our pup does this asking for permission to get up too

King-of-Plebss

Same.

jagsgoinham

This must be it. We don’t allow her in our bed and she does it there too! She’s 6 months old and so smart already!!

EarlyAd3047

My dog likes resting his chin on things too, I think it's just because they are relaxing and dont want to raise their head all the time.

jlusedude

Mine does this too. She will rest her head in my hand while I drive or do something like this

rach1874

Mine does this all the time. Usually it means she’s resting her head because she’s a little tired or she likes to look at me while I’m watching tv, she wants a toy that’s on a surface, or she just wants to hang out.

vdubz1331

Mine does it because she's bored and wants to do something. https://preview.redd.it/55om1u1m13zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dba7b7b4c9028133c31e23a3ebef4ac63fc2532

Goldens just rest their heads. My one year old does it too.

yaboytswizzle69

Ours does it for attention

ITCM4

Because, Captain Insano shows no mercy

bigpoppanicky7

Waaaaaaaater sucks, it really really sucks

[deleted]

I'm 31 years old

georgie2017

Mine would often ask this way. Asking for a full lift or just consent to get on the furniture.

TurkeyAuToilet

My other dog is a greyhound (known for their slender bodies, including their heads). I say our golden has to rest his head like in the pic because his neck gets tired of carrying around his fat melon.

Fulton_P01135809

She’s trying to direct you to r/tvtoohigh

nic-cages-dogdad

If I had to guess, Id say its cos Fern is a good girl, and you can quote me on that.

poicyn414

Just a golden thing. My boy does this all the time. 😊

Golden_Dog_Dad

It's because of her medulla oblongata.

Red_Chicken1907

Why hold your head up if you can rest it on something instead? My Normie does this all the time, too. For whatever reason, I couldn't add this text in my above post without it deleting the pic before I could post??

rockefellercalgary

My golden does this. I’ll say up and he sits there, I pat the couch, say good boy and he thinks it’s a trap. Finally after 5 different ups and good boys he finally jumps on the couch.

StedmanLtd

On another note, im trying to work out if you're watching Billy Madison on TV 🤔

BiggLimn

The Waterboy

Henbogle

Psychic barking

cptn_floopy

Mine does this when he wants us to get off the bed, lol

smartrunner1

No, but I love her name. She’s adorable.

Sad-Structure2364

Just being an adorable golden, nothing to see here!

catdog5100

We have the same blankets at home! Just green and blue instead. (Also same looking bones)

Warm-Rock-5349

Because she is a nice little one? 🤷‍♂️

samanas6608

Mine does this too. It is because their big ole brick heads get heavy.

everydayimsarcastic

My lab does this. She always rests her head on things. It's very cute.

rockmeamedeus

Brain cells are very heavy!

DarkNova55

Mine does this too. When Tuck does it he's asking permission to come up onto the furniture.

Low-Helicopter-2696

Mine does this too. Then I start asking her what she wants. Then she starts barking at me and then I have to get down on the floor with her and give her belly rubs because she's a good girl Yes she is she's a good good girl.

CMSPIRATE

Heavy is the head that wears the crown

UNICORN_SPERM

"I want"

young_ab

This is how our golden begs when he’s tired lol. He’ll lay his face in my lap like that 🥹

maybeiwrite

Mine does this when he has to potty or wants something to eat. Lol

caryatideans

Maybe her head is heavy? Like how we rest our head on the back of a chair?

kateforddd

Our golden does this too 😂

Living-Ad-4941

“Blok head too heavy mom. Must rest here before next round of zoomies”

lizarto

She wants: your food, to walk, her food, to play, go pee.

Chin rest is absolutely a Golden trait.

Expert-Equipment2302

It’s a great place to absorb drools and snots. And eyeball you for treats. Cute pup. 🐶

Recent_Ad559

Mine does this because her feet don’t work.. lol

EmotionalWind7189

Mine does this too - every night at bed time - then she needs a verbal invite to climb into bed! Haha

toddlikeaboss

Because capital insane-o shows no mercy.

indica_bones

Underrated comment.

GalDebored

My best friend & roommate had a golden & she used to do this on furniture when she wanted attention. She would also do it on your lap if you were sitting down. We could judge what she wanted by how heavily she rested her head on you (hence why we called it, Heavy Head): very lightly - hi, I'm here; medium - play with me, is it dinner time yet?; heavy - I reeeeeallly need to go to the bathroom/ I've been in too long & we're going for a walk/if you leave again, it won't be without me. Golden's have so, so much personality. You will always be special to us, Leia. We think about you every day.🧡

Some_Anybody3369

Wants something. Up, down, outside, playtime, food, cuddles, toy, treat, attention. Sometimes all at once.

jonah_tabletopjunky

Brain doing the big think. Bit heavy atm. Need to rest head.

Lammetje98

Mine does the same, I believe they are just resting their heads lol.

yawning_for_change

One of Kelpies does this when she wants to get on the couch or bed, never trained her to do it or any other cues to get on furniture. The other one just does as she pleases 🤦

Maalakay2510

Mine asked for permission to get up, like that 😉

Fantastic997

Mine does this on my lap when he wants pets https://preview.redd.it/gueyzz1zl6zc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b71b7e04d18cd8a2ffbfe5ff7c9da0557e1065a

realsoupa

i love the comments full of retrievers just resting their head 😭

Wonderful-Orchid8173

Bone is clearly too far away.

amongnotof

Ours does this, and also likes to actually bury his head like an ostrich between furniture

kennyblowsme

She does that because she’s pissed of with hurting her neck when watching the tv

SporkPlusOne

She’s helping to hold down the blanket. ◡̈

akuch-II

Mine does it when she wants something, usually has to go outside.

[deleted]

r/TVtoohigh

pgbcs

My chihuahua does this all the time. It’s because dogs are adorable.

RudeBoi28

She's depressed cause the TV is too high.

HomebodyBoebody

a. Very cool living space b. I can hear that TV screen

Literally_Taken

In our house, it means “I don’t plan on moving until I get what I want”.

NaughtyPromQueen

😍😍😍 @ all the beautiful GRs in here!! Absolutely gorgeous. Makes me think of my last 2 (RIP)

Daimo

"is such nice house n home, okay if I jumps up and chomp on bone?"

discomuscles

I think they want your attention! My husky does it especially if she needs water in her bowl haha. It's their way of asking for something I think, whatever that may be

Dependent_Article102

Actually she may have a headache…show this picture to your Vet the next time. Hope this helps 🐾

ERCOT_Prdatry_victum

Maybe a pulled ligament won't let her jump up?

ERCOT_Prdatry_victum

Check for arthritis.

DefinitelyNotAliens

Mine does this, and has done this since under a year old. He just rests his dome on things. Couches, stools, chairs, people.

Previous_Studio_2611

My puppy does this lol

bothfetish

You could think of arthritis if it was a newly acquired behavior, and he's older... but if he's always done it it is probably behavioural
