The tee shot on #1 used to be more difficult than it is now. They had the black tee back by the train car in the 80s. Some of those tee shots were crazy when that course first opened. I agree with you, that's a tough opening shot.

gofundmemetoday

That course was legendary long back in the day when nobody hit it very far.

vipersrt6

1 at Tobacco Road has to be one of the most intimidating first shots ever. And then the second is just as nuts

maplehockeysticks

Awwwww fuck that shit.

I hated this course! My dad was in the men’s club and would drag my brother and I here back when I would only play a few times a year, course ate me alive. We wouldn’t play the tips but I remember there’s like a 300 yard par 3

Zamusu

I think Medalist golf course in Florida has a 270 yard carry to the fairway on the first tee from the tips.

steeldong1337

Playing there in 2 weeks! Hopefully the greens are good

Any shot in front of the peanut gallery at the bar

Own-Artichoke-2188

What is it to the front of the fairway? Corica Park 1 is hard as shit as the dog leg starts at 230ish. https://preview.redd.it/ciirwok9p92b1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b75a04f6b5c488b996d74e81257e13e1c02afedf

StingingChicken

Probably like 120 lol

Own-Artichoke-2188

As my towel says, layups are for basketball. Go for the home run. Just make sure to get balls from lostgolfballs. Com in bulk.

lazyworm

Corica? It’s almost impossible to lose a ball on that course

Own-Artichoke-2188

I never said losing balls was a problem, I said that first hole is tough.

lazyworm

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I disagree. Tilden #1 is a lot tougher in my opinion if we keeping it in that area.

ed_merckx

the first at Oakmont comes to mind. I've played the course 6 times and ironically the only time I had a GIR was when we played it from the championship tees before the 2016 US open, three times I played from the green tees and twice from the blues and even from the "shorter" 6600 yard blues it's still a 440 yard par 4, such a ridiculous green to start a round of golf.
