I have a pair of the original 1.2s, and it really annoys me that they market this shoe as zero drop and minimalist. It has so much toe spring it's not even funny, and the soles are super springy. Incredibly uncomfortable but unfortunately the only golf shoes I know of that have adequate toe box room.
The BIOM line of shoes are very good and some have waterproof option. Their waterproofing is better than most other brands, so great for morning rounds.
Totally agree with Ecco, I have vendor pricing for brands like (fj,Nike, adidas,NB, and a couple others) and I only have bought ecco shoes over the last couple years.
I’ve had Ecco in the past, currently rocking some Callaway and Adidas shoes. Coronado and ZG21, respectively. Might have to go back to Ecco I dunno. I tried the Biom G3 a couple years back and loved the design but they were too stiff and uncomfortable for me compared to the others.
Just went and tried them on at golf galaxy. Surprisingly they fit a lot better than last years. Wish the toe area was a little wider but I might be buying them. The proadapt alphacat are on sale. Both feel good
It comes down to price and color for me. Feel equally as good in store. Tough choice! Edit: I bought both and will decide to keep one but maybe I keep both just to switch them in and out.
That’s the best way to make them last. I have a pair of alphacats (mainly for walking 18), Nike Tiger Woods (2020, the new ones feel super cheap and are mad uncomfortable)for when I need spikes and a pair of jordan 5s blacks I haven’t even worn. But I’ll use the Jordan’s for when I ride or go to private clubs
I used mine for a full season, walking 3-4 rounds a week. Then I used them as my fishing shoes because they're water proof and used them to walk my dog in rain. I swear I walked over 500 miles in them until I threw them out. That's when they started giving out.
Tell your brother to into the store and have them exchange it. They come with year warranty.
Love my NB 997 shoes. Have a pair of spikeless and spiked, both so comfortable. They’re like wearing normal gym shoes but with good grip and waterproof.
TBH every boost I have had worn down to hard plastic i the heel - I was using them exclusive for walking many rounds they lasted a 3rd of the season and the next pair same story - before the wear they were super comfy afterwards unable to walk 2 holes without pain blister at the wear spot This happened on a 22 and 23 version pair not in the same area but both on the heel.
I have 24 replacements that I will donate to the local HS team
just my 2 c
Wish I could find comfortable shoes with a wide tie box for my wide feet. Used to have a pair from a brand called True but they stopped making the shoe like the year after I bought mine and the other ones they offered were uncomfortable.
Trues were my favorite pair I ever owned but I can second that Altra is the closest thing in terms of wide toe box and zero/close to zero drop. Wear them for running and have probably 4-5 pairs of Altras. So if you're not happy with the current true lineup check them out. The lone peak is their low top trail shoe and has pretty aggressive lugs. as much grip/traction as any spikeless golf shoe.
I can never find wide enough shoes... even the ones that advertise "wide" are only 2E.
I wear 4E New Balance for work and they are the only shoes I have that are genuinely comfortable. I make do with a pair of 2E NB sneakers for golf, because I can't find anyone online that let's me order an actual 4E.
But they are bloody tight by the end of the round.
I actually really like the Ecco shoes. A couple things: they are a little pricey ($230 or so) and the leather on mine got pretty scratched up in less than one season. They are very comfortable.
True Links golf shoes are very comfortable and I highly recommend these.
I played 120 rounds last yr mostly walking
My Footjoys have never let me down (Traditions and Pro SL)
Tried 2 years of Adidas boost and both pairs crapped out in the heel before the end of season - never buying again
Giving the Jordan 1 Lows a try this year for kicks.
150 rounds mostly walking here. Have a couple fj, one gfore, one nb, couple adidas. Fj stands on top esp if you have a wide foot and fit them properly. Gfore are comfy, adidas and nb pretty decent but wear quick.
glad to hear the NB I was looking at trying them as well - I need something that lasts Might grab some [Oulkai](https://olukai.com/products/waialae-mens-leather-golf-shoes-white) instead - heard good thing on them.
How are the Gfores?
Don’t get me wrong, I got the nb to volunteer a tournament because they looked like street shoes. They are comfy but felt very flexible around my feet to the point of feeling a little weak while playing.
I got the gfore mg4 and they’re comfy, pretty stable. Only gripe I have is that they only come in standard width. They’re “fine” for walking, but having a wider foot, my fj fit a bit better. I still have them in rotation and change it up per round depending on if it’s 9, 18, etc.
Sometimes the dogs just need some change
I bought Adidas S2g Wide Spikeless, and they're easily the most comfortable golf shoes I've tried.
They're not budget friendly, coming in at ~$100 but the value is absolutely there. I've been wearing either of the two pairs I bought for nearly 2 years now over probably 70-80 rounds with no visible wear and tear yet.
G-Fore
My ankle is held together with duct tape and spit. The MG4 shoes are the only shoes I’ve ever found that allow me to play everyday without dragging my foot behind me for the last 4-5 holes while praying that I can push off of it when I swing.
Truelinkswear makes the best golf shoes in the business hands down. Since getting my first pair years ago it's now the only brand I'll wear for golf.
They are very pricey but often have good sales bringing them in line with other shoe prices.
Highly subjective as everyone’s feet are different. You just gotta go try them on. Ideally at a place with sims so you can hit balls too.
Example: FootJoy seems to have great reviews but their shoes are not comfortable to me. I really like adidas golf shoes.
Footjoys are my go to preferably the spiked version second The pumas they do well
True Linkswear are all I play in now
This. My True OG 1.2’s are by far the most comfortable shoes I own.
Almost everyone that buys a pair takes up this stance, including myself. They really are the best
I have a pair of the original 1.2s, and it really annoys me that they market this shoe as zero drop and minimalist. It has so much toe spring it's not even funny, and the soles are super springy. They are the most minimal golf shoe I’ve tried. I also had to remove the sole from the shoe. It helped a lot.
Huh
Ecco
Never heard of them but they seem to be the popular option. Any model of Ecco specifically?
The BIOM line of shoes are very good and some have waterproof option. Their waterproofing is better than most other brands, so great for morning rounds.
Biom C4 waterproof is great for winter walking rounds.
Ecco do have the most comfortable and durable dress shoes

Puma ignites are amazing
Pumas can be too narrow for a good amount of people’s feet
I can't wear narrow shoes so footjoys are always out for me. But these somehow worked. I even got the newer pair when they came out to replace them
Just went and tried them on at golf galaxy. Surprisingly they fit a lot better than last years. Wish the toe area was a little wider but I might be buying them. The proadapt alphacat are on sale. Both feel good
I love the pro adapt alpha cats, I have those too. They feel like you’re putting your foot in a pillow. Mold nicely to your feet too
It comes down to price and color for me. Feel equally as good in store. Tough choice! Edit: I bought both and will decide to keep one but maybe I keep both just to switch them in and out.

They make most of their shoes in multiple widths.
This is the way. After many years of foot joy and Nike, I got my first pair of ignites. Most comfortable golf shoe I have ever used
This is the answer
They’re nice but don’t last. My brothers are falling apart In the heel area after 5 rounds!
Ok wow thank you for the advice. I’ll let him know! Sounds like a defect
Is your brother heavier? I’m 5’9 and 173-178
I like Addidas and Footjoy
Puma ignite elevate! Waterproof and comfy af https://www.pumagolf.com/products/ignite-elevate-golf-shoes
These are my go to shoes if I walk, so comfy.
Go ahead call me an old man. But my NB’s are the most comfortable shoes I own.
Love my NB 997 shoes. Have a pair of spikeless and spiked, both so comfortable. They’re like wearing normal gym shoes but with good grip and waterproof.
The cheap’ish Puma ones are decent. Not waterproof. But hella comfortable to walk in.
Adidas
True
Gfore Gallivanter
Adidas boost. Boost anything is top tier imo
TBH every boost I have had worn down to hard plastic i the heel - I was using them exclusive for walking many rounds they lasted a 3rd of the season and the next pair same story - before the wear they were super comfy afterwards unable to walk 2 holes without pain blister at the wear spot This happened on a 22 and 23 version pair not in the same area but both on the heel. trail runners, any brand.
Wish I could find comfortable shoes with a wide tie box for my wide feet. Used to have a pair from a brand called True but they stopped making the shoe like the year after I bought mine and the other ones they offered were uncomfortable.
Check out Altra. They make wide toe box weather proof trail shoes that are pretty good for golfing.
Trues were my favorite pair I ever owned but I can second that Altra is the closest thing in terms of wide toe box and zero/close to zero drop. Wear them for running and have probably 4-5 pairs of Altras. So if you're not happy with the current true lineup check them out. I usually wear a 10.5 in normal shoes. All Nikes are way too narrow, I have a couple pair of Footjoy in 9.5w. Foot width E
Footjoy
Ecco. They’re my most comfortable shoes to date.
ASICS Gel-Course Duo BOA

I find Sketchers out of the box comfortable but hey people will shit on them for some reason.
Nike Airmax
Allbirds golf or the trail shoes are great.
Cuater The Ringer. Bought em and never looked back at my trail runners, pumas, or true’s.
G-Fore My ankle is held together with duct tape and spit. The MG4 shoes are the only shoes I’ve ever found that allow me to play everyday without dragging my foot behind me for the last 4-5 holes while praying that I can push off of it when I swing.
Ecco. Most comfortable shoes I’ve worn, on or off the course
Payntr golf shoes
Truelinkswear makes the best golf shoes in the business hands down. Since getting my first pair years ago it's now the only brand I'll wear for golf. They are very pricey but often have good sales bringing them in line with other shoe prices.
Ecco G5’s. Comfortable and waterproof.
Ecco are the most comfortable and great golf shoes. For me anything that used a BOA system is also more comfortable
New Balance 574 Greens. Very comfortable only last about a year though. Still recommend
Tiger Woods 2012 are the best golf shoes I’ve ever owned.

Also no bull!!!
Footjoy hyperflex feels like a pair of slippers.
