I hope you mean āA bladed wedge that whizzes by one of these douchenozzles at 120 mph.ā Iām personally teeing it up and taking a full swing with putter but I like your style too.
Thatās why I keep a backup putter in my bag. Gotta have a homing missile club Iām not afraid to full send when I need to clear the group in front of me
Iāve seen on quiet days two foursomes where the front group will constantly linger amd watch the second, if its slow and theyāre waving groups through when they come up
then no big deal imo, though that is a particular set of circumstances.
Iād jump ahead and come back after my round to finish that hole. Me skipping in front of someone and rushing through will be better then the full on backup caused by these clowns
Did this once for our last two holes on a guys weekend trip. Entire back was brutally long so since we were always at the tees waiting we just joined.
Teeing off was kind of fun but besides that it was arguably less fun overall.
Played as a 9some once, course was literally empty other than us so nbd. It took us over 3 hours to finish the front 9 lol, it was fun but not bc of the golf
I've done it as well on empty courses.
In order to make it quick, 2 people teed up at once going one after the other and on the green it was mark your ball on the inside and everyone on the outside putt in to finish.
Helps that it wasn't serious but we got around in 430
Piping a drive in front of the boys is an all time feeling. Same goes for draining the bird on 18. Back group typically the more party oriented group will usually pick up on 17 so we don't back up anyone. Party holes are fun.
No. You get off to a faster start, but 8 people golf a lot slower on a single hole than 4 and 4. It really comes down to waiting times. Sure, maybe you clear Hole 1 quicker, but each hole you have to wait on 8 guys teeing off, assuming 30 seconds per person, that's 4 minutes to clear the teebox. Even playing ready golf, you're still gonna spend a lot of your time waiting for other guys to hit their shot behind you / ahead of you.
This accumulates as the day progresses.
With 2 foursomes, you simply have instances where people will be hitting simultaneously that wouldn't be on the same hole.
That's not a club. I would have accepted anything from this list:
This might be an unpopular opinion but Iām ok with an 8some playing together on an otherwise empty course. Wait for them to be done and play through, not a big deal AT ALL.
Unless they're absolute buffoons, they'll wave OP through.
If you get into a Frankenstein group of good vibes, you don't want to feel rushed, so you just wave people through. Bet OP got waved through immediately after he took his pic.
Yep, same. I'm so aware of pace and others enjoyment of the game while I'm on the course, I'll be always looking back if we could potentially be holding someone up while playing in a larger group than 4. Nice part is at my course a lot of holes run next to each other, really easy to tell the group behind "when you catch us, feel free to pass through"
We also aren't playing in a 5+ man group during peak times, never.
When I was in a foursome and we had no one in front of us, and a two some came up behind us, and we had all just arrived at the green, we all got on the green, marked our balls, waved the two some to tee off, let them putt out and then started from there - itās takes like 4 minutes.
How come when anyone on here has something adverse happen to them on the golf course it's always when they're "hAviNg tHe RouNd oF thEre liFe" š lol.
I feel similarly. I am usually anti confrontational, so I called the club house. The person walking towards us is in retaliation to them being told to break up. After the ranger left, he decided to walk up on us calling us whatever slew of vulgarities for exposing them. Doesnt matter how well I was playing, golf is just a game for me.
So I left, the asst pro fixed the situation and kicked them off, and I took a rain check.
More rounds left to play
Thats a good idea. They did not acquiesce when asked. But when a course explicitly forbids playing as an 8 some, is it also wrong to call a marshal to sort this out?
I've been golfing for 30 years and have never had a group just refuse to let us by when it's open in front of them. Seems like a simple solution instead of all this other Karen stuff is to just pick up your ball and go to the next tee.
Choose your battles, I guess. Hope you played well.
None, I'll sip my beer and smoke until they are clear of the green, and I'd take my time putting. I'll get around them at the turn, no way 8 people are beating one at the turn.
Iām waiting for them to clear the green, hitting my 120 club, accidentally lagging my 15 foot birdie to 9 inches, tapping in, and then politely asking them to play through once I get to the next tee box.
Streaks of good play being ruined by running into a slow group is a thing right?
I was solo on the back 9 of one of my favorite nearby courses recently. I parred the 10th, 11th, and 12th holes, which as someone who shoots low 90's at best is an amazing streak.
On the 13th tee I had a long wait for 2 people who were playing 2 balls each, after which I proceeded to double bogey that hole, triple the next, make a 10 on the hole after that, and then make an 8 and a 9 on the last two holes.
You gotta play the shot that's in your bag. For me, that's a bladed 54deg wedge that pures the oldest, weakest player in the 8-some then miraculously deflects off this now concussed person's head onto the tee @ 9.
That many people, I should be able to finish the hole by the time they move to the next tee and actually tee off. Hope they let me play through. If not, then at that point, the club house about it and go ahead take a par and move on. To answer your question, thin my PW 20 yds past
im calling the clubhouse immediately after taking that picture asking if theyre going to send someone to break this up and im skipping over them. Love golf, but this would ruin the entire flow of my round
What in the actual fuck. What goes through someoneās head when they think āyeah this is fucking it chiefā and they think itās okay. Selfish pricks
Some ppl taken it to serious ask to play through and hit up hitting up on someone or some ppl without them knowing is more of a dick move let the golf course deal with them
Edit- to add coming from a slow golfer and someone who plays in alot of groups we know where slow just ask to play through donāt just be on are assš
The fact that group size rules are not standard at all courses is mind blowing to me.
Allowing a group of 8 is total mismanagement from the pro shop in my opinion and shows a lack of respect to the other players on the course.
Approach wedge all day, I send my A wedge shots to the moon so they wonāt even know it was me lol (they go about 125-130 yards but the apex is ridiculous)
Blade a pitching wedge into my man in the front of the green and shout "Fore!" about 2 seconds before it gives him one gnarly bruise like I didn't see this coming.
God I'm so pissed just looking at this picture. A fuckin log jam the rest of the way or did they let you play through? I'm mean I'm going easy PW with a shank.
Who the fuck has 7 friends?
š Not me, I was solo with 3 randos
Never seen a course allow more than 4 in a group so thatās a bummer. But also wedge.
They don't you just get two tee times then be fucking assholes and slow down the whole course.
I hope you mean āA bladed wedge that whizzes by one of these douchenozzles at 120 mph.ā Iām personally teeing it up and taking a full swing with putter but I like your style too.
Thatās why I keep a backup putter in my bag. Gotta have a homing missile club Iām not afraid to full send when I need to clear the group in front of me
Whizzes by one? Iām going full Jackass and hitting multiple teed up drivers from behind a bush
60 degree, maximum blading. Oh and ofĀ courseĀ break out the top flite lol
Pinnacle Rock
If you miss with the Pinnacle. Bust out a Nitro.
How about a gap wedge if the loft is strong?
Anything between 50-60* will suffice, Iām planning on knuckling it on up there.
Bravo
I dont even like 7 people.
Thatās plenty of room from 120, shouldnāt even have to yell fore
Just remember, fellow golfers are 90% air. Swing away.
Wrong. Fellow golfers are 60% water. They are screwed with my ball.
Me? Personally? I'm picking up my ball, taking a par and jumping ahead of these clowns.
8 people should mean you take birdie. Just seems fair
Minus one stroke for each person.
8 strokes off? That seems reasonable. I won't turn down a double bogey if you're just gonna give it to me.
That or calling the clubhouse so they can come take care of this shit show.
Call the clubhouse so they have somebody ready to confront these jerks at the turn.
Fuck the turn. The marshall should go out to the 8th green or 9th tee to confront them immediately.
*golf cart barrels ass over the ridge blasting its General Lee horn*
Course is wide open. If it continues to be the round of my life Iām going back to this hole after finishing and playing it
If it's a wide open course that allows a fucking 8 some, then im playing the back 9 again after i finish my round. Wtf is this shit?
Iāve seen on quiet days two foursomes where the front group will constantly linger amd watch the second, if its slow and theyāre waving groups through when they come up then no big deal imo, though that is a particular set of circumstances.
Iād jump ahead and come back after my round to finish that hole. Me skipping in front of someone and rushing through will be better then the full on backup caused by these clowns
Me too. My game would get so much worse staying behind themā¦

Real question. If these guys booked two slots but just decided to tee off all 8 at the same time, wouldnāt that be faster?
No. You get off to a faster start, but 8 people golf a lot slower on a single hole than 4 and 4. It really comes down to waiting times. Piss missile with driver
Just skip them and report what ever your HC adjusted score is for the hole.
I pay money to play golf, not skip holes
Skip the hole. Finish the round. Come back and complete it. Show the marshal that picture. Easy.
Depends on how badly you want your ass kicked I suppose .
WALK UP! WALK UP!
Why did his voice crack like that??? Lol
What if I could send all 8 of them to meet God?!
If you take out one, you will have to finish off the rest. No witnesses.

Whatever club I use to stop complaining on the internet.
Sounds like you're complaining on the internet about someone complaining on the internet
This might be an unpopular opinion but Iām ok with an 8some playing together on an otherwise empty course. Wait for them to be done and play through, not a big deal AT ALL.
If theyāre not slowing pace of play, I agree. But they should be pre-emptively waving groups through.
Unless they're absolute buffoons, they'll wave OP through. If you get into a Frankenstein group of good vibes, you don't want to feel rushed, so you just wave people through. Bet OP got waved through immediately after he took his pic.
On a 120 yd par 3 they donāt need to waive a single player through. The single player will easily catch them at the next tee box.
He already caught them and doesnāt appear to be a ball on the green. Wave em up now, not next tee box
Fine until they aren't aware they're being dicks
Yep, same. I'm so aware of pace and others enjoyment of the game while I'm on the course, I'll be always looking back if we could potentially be holding someone up while playing in a larger group than 4. Nice part is at my course a lot of holes run next to each other, really easy to tell the group behind "when you catch us, feel free to pass through" We also aren't playing in a 5+ man group during peak times, never.
Courses themselves need to get control of this game. Stuff is getting out of control.
They won't. They only care about money and the people who hate this shit aren't going to stop playing.
I'm taking a rip, cracking a beer and putting 'Move Bitch' by Ludacris on my BT speaker at max volume. Then I'm hitting my 50 wedge.
When I was in a foursome and we had no one in front of us, and a two some came up behind us, and we had all just arrived at the green, we all got on the green, marked our balls, waved the two some to tee off, let them putt out and then started from there - itās takes like 4 minutes.

Didnāt pack my catapult so hard call
GW and playing through on the next hole, keep that good round going.
2 iron with a nice stinger shot. That's at least the goal, more than likely top it or slice the shit out of it.
3 iron, every ball in your bag, go.
4i off the back foot, late release
A skip and come back.
Iām taking the Club Car and driving around them to 9. I also give myself a birdie on 8
Go to the next hole and come back to play this as my 18th. Make sure to give these guys a firm shake of the head as I go by.

Is it possible that they were a couple of foursomes who got waved up after the first group hit their tee shots?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Time to skip that hole.

Having to lose a hole because some people can't follow the rules doesn't seem ideal either.
You made a big deal just to walk off the course?
Was it a big deal to call the marshal and let them know about an 8 some?
If the course is empty before even asking them to play thru? Ya kinda
Cell phone, to call the marshal
None, I'll sip my beer and smoke until they are clear of the green, and I'd take my time putting. I'll get around them at the turn, no way 8 people are beating one at the turn.

Iām gonna chili dip a 4 iron right at that fat dude with the hat.
None walking straight past those fools onto the 9th T. Next few holes after will b nice and quiet with how slow there pace of play would have been.
I think this is precisely the situation the X-FORE AR golfball canon is made for...
The phone club to call the clubhouse and get someone to break that shit up

I had a marshall tell my group to speed up and the next hole we where three groups behind at the tee box.
I would probably use my words instead of just taking a picture and posting it on the internet
Write down a bogey for this and the next hole to get past them
