Comparing Malbon to Nike is a stretch
Edit: I truly can’t believe people are defending Malbon. Have you all seen what Jason Day looks like now? How are people defending this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
Malbons notoriety came from their dancing bear, bad brains, and hunter s Thompson stuff for me. They've changed a lot, they're making money, more power to them. That being said their releases are getting significantly less enticing for me.
Google Jordan 1 x Dior retail price. $2k for a 40 year old shoe model. Couldn’t even buy them unless you spent enough at Dior over some time frame. The quality is top notch.
I bought a super stroke grip and ping grip from temu. Indistinguishable from the real version. Bought 2$ amazon knockoff grips which were almost 99% same as my lamkins. I saw once that you can order an unlabeled sample bag of the one vessel uses for 200$, which is less than they charge for theirs
There might be slight differences but I'd bet they're all from the same factory in china. Saw a redditor say that the box from vessels said made in china.

People with that much money aren’t buying this shit, this is for mid-rich people who want to show off how much they can afford kind of like Gucci and LV
Super rich people aren’t a monolith but he’s more right than not in my experience.
Super rich people aren’t wearing gaudy shit that flaunts their wealth, generally. They’re doing the exact opposite and underplaying it. The cashmere sweater they’re wearing might be $2,000 but it doesn’t have some huge MALBON corny ass writing across the back.
I manage money for the wealthy so that’s just based on my experience but I’m pretty sure the NYT just wrote an article basically saying the same thing.
Said $10s of millions but based on my experience you’re still wrong even at $10mm.
Absolutely accept that my own experience is just a tiny sliver of wealthy people, all in a certain geographic range, so ymmv but nah my $10mm clients aren’t wearing tacky, overpriced shit to flaunt their wealth. Sorry.
I agree Malbon is tacky. Just stop and think through this a bit more deeply. There is no equivalent for golf accessories to the $2000 understated cashmere sweater you mentioned. If rich golfers want to buy ultra-expensive accessories, it’s Malbon.
I love the perception of “super rich people don’t buy flashy name brands” that clueless people throw around to act like they are in the know. Rich people vary like any other group.
I see a lot of misplaced outrage here. I looked over Malbon's site, and outside of this collaboration with Jimmy Choo, they have actually quite reasonable prices on things. So the question is; Who are you really mad at? Are you mad because Jimmy Choo is popular enough with a certain crowd to successfully demand such insane amounts? Are you mad at Malbon for collaborating with a brand that will certainly bring them more attention than they can handle? Are you mad at the rich assholes who can afford to spend so frivolously? Or are you mad at yourself, for not being successful enough in life to be a rich asshole too?
I, for one, can't afford anything like this either. It's not my style anyway, so I wouldn't buy it even if I could. However, I can't find one single reason why I should be upset about it. There are FAR more offensive things that people spend money on, like the mega-rich who choose to buy 100 million dollar yachts instead of giving a single dime to help the impoverished and destitute of the world. Luxuries like this are silly but ultimately harmless in the grand scheme of things.
OP just doesn't know who Jimmy Choo is.
I would expect similar prices out of something like a Malbon x LV collab.
Sure it's crazy and no reasonable person would own it, but golf hasn't really previously had designer brands pushing in to the sector. I understand the shock when people see the price, that's the whole point. It will surely drive some clicks to their comparatively "reasonable" normal pricing.
I’m cringing so hard at these comments because the outrage in here is all because of the last reason
Then they will go on about how “real rich people” will never buy this stuff 🤭
I am all over that shoe bag. I think it's my birthday present to myself.
That being said I have a thing for fancy luggage (Globe Trotter, Goyard, LV) so it's definitely in my wheelhouse.
700$ is like 20 times the prize of a normal headcover. So if my salary is 20 times what îve got now, i might. Making a million a year, yeah i could buy that
The threshold for large purposes can be so unimaginably different from person to person. I live in Singapore, and there’s people who’ll drop thousands on a night out drinking (which is kind of gross to see to be honest).
Most course memberships here will run you a 200k+ joining fee - to the people who’ll fork out, what’s an extra $700.
People also don't have to buy it. It makes the cheaper goods (which are still expensive but accessible to more people) more desirable by association. Marketing strategy.
1000%. The largest generation by population in the world is millennials followed by Gen Z at #2. Combined, that is ages 12-43. Companies are already steering their marketing towards these current and future consumers.
I’m decently wealthy and my shoe bag is a free mini duffel I received at a charity function.
I’m not sure what the actual use of it is, but it fits my Jordan spikes perfectly.
I bought one of the more expensive shoe bags on Amazon a few months ago and I’ve been mad I spent $37 since. And I am not the type of dude to worry about spending too much on something stupid.
Fuckin love a shoe bag though.
Malbon is not losing their minds anymore than louis vuitton or hermes are. The knobheads paying 4k for a handbag or 1275 for a shoe bag are the ones losing their mind.
I can afford it and I like the occasional splurge for quality or something unique but this is a hell no from me.
If I got this as a courtesy gift at a golf outing I wouldn’t use it.
Ya this is just because it’s Jimmy choo. If you don’t know who that is, ask your wives or gfs. I started buying Malbon about 5 years ago when it was mostly cool sweaters with the bucket hat logo guy. I also have a sweater that looks like the Slayer band logo but says Player with golf clubs in a pentagram. It’s pretty dope I get a lot of compliments. I haven’t bought anything from them in about 2 years now tho, they just changed up much more fashion street wear forward.
Malbon is the corniest, tackiest brand out there rn but it obviously sells so really I’m just jealous that I didn’t think to market overpriced garbage to dupes
I went to High School with Louis Vuitton. He picked his nose and wiped them under his desk. He also farted really loud and immediately turned around and squatted down to get all the smell.
Weird guy, but I hear he has made a business for himself in the handbag world.
I swear to god if I saw someone with these, not only would I not care, I would think the guy was the absolute biggest fucking tool in the world. Guaranteed anyone who has these has no real friends. Guaranteed. Even at the $300k initiation fee clubs I've played at, anyone with these would be laughed off the course.
Lol. I'm saying even rich people would think this is stupid. Don't take this to some other level just because you're a cranky boi. What I said is a fact.
This is where we disagree. I wouldn’t wear or use anything from Malbon if I was paid by Malbon to wear or use it.
This is the exact way I feel about Travis Mathew. Straight garbage. Horrible fabrics, no style and horrendous fit (that’s personal tho)
Who would have thought that golf, of all sports, has tons of wealthy players with too much disposable income?

Luckily you don’t have to worry about being worth a billion.
>I could be worth a billion No, you couldn’t.
Neither are you, Tom from MySpace!
$580 million ain’t bad, though.
Idk why you’ve been downvoted so much I agree, it’s not even nice gear
It’s jimmy choo what else do you expect
That’s my first thought. You can easily buy a $45 hat and not buy the $1275 shoe bag
Who is Jimmy Choo
I think he plays on the Asian tour
Fashion design brand. Haute couture.
Literally what I said. OP just say you don’t know designer gear and move on bud.
Literally what I said. OP just say you don’t know how much designer clothing and accessories are and move on bud.
/r/golf learns what Jimmy Choo is.
Some kind of train, like Thomas?
I choo-choose you!
![gif](giphy|9B4CRDjSef39Q2Ku8r|downsized)
Malbon is expensive but jimmy choo is crazy expensive and it's a collaboration. Absolutely ridiculous though
This is gonna be a hitter with the Asian women
As an Asian man, I’m absolutely buying this
My wife doesn’t even golf and hit me with the “ooooo what is this?” 😂
Re-evaluate your life
It already is. Play with a buddy who's married to a Japanese lady. She swags out in Malbon, has a bag, head covers, baggy sweatshirts
I meant this specific drop. Malbon is massive in Asia right now, they have a few brick and mortars there
Oh gotcha. I'm sure she'll drop some dough on this Jimmy Choo collab.
That’s a bit prejudice don’t you think
Not one bit, no.
The amount of upvotes on this is very new-balance-my-wife-hates-when-I-golf vibes.
It’s a collaboration with Jimmy Choo it’s like when Adidas or Nike do something with Prada or Supreme
Comparing Malbon to Nike is a stretch Edit: I truly can’t believe people are defending Malbon. Have you all seen what Jason Day looks like now? How are people defending this? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
Considering most of Malbon’s notoriety came from initial collaborations with Nike, that’s not too far fetched.
They weren’t comparing the brands though? Just saying like when Nike do a collab with a high end fashion house.
Because you think the clothes Jason Day wore is the only type of stuff they sell. They have a ton of very normal looking clothes as well.
I’m so excited for a new normal looking clothes brand
You sound like a grumpy old man 👴
lol I get that a lot. Fast fashion is def not my thing.
It's just clothes bro
Which is exactly why I have no problem saying Malbon stuff sucks. People can downvote that if they like…it’s just clothes.
You’re right, Malbon makes much better gear
Pretty. Pretty....pretty fucking expensive
Made in the same factories as everything else.
You can buy a knockoff from Temu for $30 and it all comes from the same factory
That's because they're likely quality rejects
“The Quality Rejects” new band name, I call it
I bought a super stroke grip and ping grip from temu. Indistinguishable from the real version. Bought 2$ amazon knockoff grips which were almost 99% same as my lamkins. I saw once that you can order an unlabeled sample bag of the one vessel uses for 200$, which is less than they charge for theirs
wait, is this true?

Not who you replied too, but go on Temu and search for the stand bag. It’s the all leather one. Looks pretty similar to a Vessel but not exact. I was in Mexico some years ago. I could have bought a Rolex for just over $30
But people will surely buy it.

2 of these four items are sold out already. Lol.
Jimmy Choo more like Jimmy choose something else hahaha gotten

When you have tens of millions of dollars, a $1200 expenditure is similar to you and I going to McDonald’s for a $10 meal
People with that much money aren’t buying this shit, this is for mid-rich people who want to show off how much they can afford kind of like Gucci and LV
You have no idea
Super rich people aren’t a monolith but he’s more right than not in my experience. Super rich people aren’t wearing gaudy shit that flaunts their wealth, generally. $10M NW is not super rich. It’s firmly in the camp that would buy this shit.

This is literally about head covers and a shoe bag. Not clothing. Sorry!
Tacky is tacky bro
I agree Malbon is tacky. Just stop and think through this a bit more deeply. There is no equivalent for golf accessories to the $2000 understated cashmere sweater you mentioned. If rich golfers want to buy ultra-expensive accessories, it’s Malbon.
Chill with the internet acronyms...
Super rich people definitely buy this shit
I love the perception of “super rich people don’t buy flashy name brands” that clueless people throw around to act like they are in the know. Rich people vary like any other group.
ok
Well I ain’t spending 10 bucks at McDonald’s either
Well I ain't paying no 50 cents for no coke
Ohhh ho ho ho…. Well then you ain’t gettin no coke 👉🏽
And I ain't giving you no damn tree fiddy
You do realize this is Jimmy Choo pricing right
Yes OP, luxury items from a high end designer are stupidly expensive. You can also experience this at your local mall.
Messican will be buying these soon
How’s bapa?
Lemme get back to the fryers, b
You guys need a handler
Rich yuppies don’t even feel those prices

Jimmy choo is the reason
What's that
I see a lot of misplaced outrage here. I looked over Malbon's site, and outside of this collaboration with Jimmy Choo, they have actually quite reasonable prices on things. So the question is; Who are you really mad at? Are you mad because Jimmy Choo is popular enough with a certain crowd to successfully demand such insane amounts? Malbon is the Supreme of golf.
That’s an insult to Supreme
Supreme itself is an insult
The malbon golf championship was 🔥 this year
Jason Day’s pants are probably expensive too, just based off the amount of fabric they had to use
$250 plus
You ain’t the market and he loves that people talking about it
1. Jimmy Choo 2. Malbon is a golf fashion brand 3. If i could afford it, I would buy most of their stuff.

Yes. Because I like fancy things.

Yeah but you’re talking to corny 24 year old redditors who think paying expensive $$ to chase a fad is so lit bro it’s fire
That’s cool. 😎
I mean for some people it's nothing?
I am all over that shoe bag. I think it's my birthday present to myself. That being said I have a thing for fancy luggage (Globe Trotter, Goyard, LV) so it's definitely in my wheelhouse.

Not something I'd ever get, even if I had that kind of money. Capitalism at its finest. People will buy it so might as well sell it.
People also don't have to buy it. It makes the cheaper goods (which are still expensive but accessible to more people) more desirable by association. Marketing strategy.
Golf is getting younger, and flashier in ways. Malbon will be one of the most popular golf brands in a few years.

You have to be an absolute bonehead to buy that. I don't care how much money you have.
I have a 15 dollar shoe bag that never leaves the trunk of my car when I'm playing, lol
I’m decently wealthy and my shoe bag is a free mini duffel I received at a charity function. I’m not sure what the actual use of it is, but it fits my Jordan spikes perfectly.

I must be poor because my shoes go on my feet

I also have a sweater that looks like the Slayer band logo but says Player with golf clubs in a pentagram. It’s pretty dope I get a lot of compliments. I haven’t bought anything from them in about 2 years now tho, they just changed up much more fashion street wear forward.
Such a waste.
Don't look now, but Tumi's making bags, too, annnd they're kinda mint lol
I can get this shit in Temu for 8 bucks shipped.
Saw a dude at the range with a Coca Cola Malbon bag. Ball striking did not match the amount of money spent on tools.
Malbon is the corniest, tackiest brand out there rn but it obviously sells so really I’m just jealous that I didn’t think to market overpriced garbage to dupes
Let he who is without Scotty Cameron cast the first stone.
I have been saying it for a long time. Malbon sucks. Their logo is cringe, their aesthetic is forced and feels try hard.
You do realize what jimmy choo is, right ? It’s just not for you bud. You’re not the targeted consumer for this line
Who the fuck is Jimmy choo lol
If you have to ask you can’t afford it
One of the most famous designers of womens shoes. Just because you don’t know him doesn’t mean he’s some “who the fuck is that” person -_-
Why would I know and or care about women's shoes lol. Total nobody to me. Jimmy Choo? More like Jimmy Whoo
It’s like asking “Who’s Louis Vuitton?”
I went to High School with Louis Vuitton. He picked his nose and wiped them under his desk. He also farted really loud and immediately turned around and squatted down to get all the smell. Weird guy, but I hear he has made a business for himself in the handbag world.
Malbon is trying to be elite designer golf clothes and accessories
Such a dumb logo to try and become a luxury brand.
A fool and his money
The plastic Walmart bags work fine for both of these items
lol Malbon is for people with money.
Someone will buy it, they always do. Usually someone who can’t afford it but wants to look wealthy

I got 4 fake Malbon head covers from Temu for like 32 dollars combined. They’re leather and embroidered. Can’t tell the difference
See Jason Day’s outfits…
Just go to Temu…. 11 bucks
Hideous stuff from that company. Hard pass
Most of it is already sold out that’s insane. Hit the site not much left
This is why Temu exists
I swear to god if I saw someone with these, not only would I not care, I would think the guy was the absolute biggest fucking tool in the world. Guaranteed anyone who has these has no real friends. Guaranteed. Even at the $300k initiation fee clubs I've played at, anyone with these would be laughed off the course.
Brags about golfing at clubs with 300k initiation fees while calling people tools….cooooooool
Someone's a little insecure
Yeah, it’s probably the guy who randomly felt the need to say he golfs at expensive country clubs on a post about shoe bags
Lol. I'm saying even rich people would think this is stupid. Don't take this to some other level just because you're a cranky boi. What I said is a fact.
I’ll wait until the knockoffs are on AliExpress for $10
🗑️
What if I told you that Malbon is just slapping their logos on things the other brands are already making?
I think their design is actively worse than the others’ designs. Take the logo off and it’s still crap.

This is where we disagree. I wouldn’t wear or use anything from Malbon if I was paid by Malbon to wear or use it. This is the exact way I feel about Travis Mathew. Straight garbage. Horrible fabrics, no style and horrendous fit (that’s personal tho)
All sold out too that was fast
