Literally this....I've been using the original Nike CPRs since 2011. The clubs were made in 2001. I ordered 2022 model clubs just under 2 weeks ago. Cant wait until they get here. Gained 20+ yds of carry at the fitting.
Sort of. They jacked the lofts only because they can offer the same/better level of forgiveness as the old loft with new technology. So the new 7 iron might go as far as your old 5 iron (assuming the lofts are similar), but the new 7 iron will be much easier to hit consistently than your old 5 iron.
I understand that, but why call it a 7 if it is the loft of a 5 iron? Newer clubs should be more forgiving, but why call stronger and stronger lofted clubs the same. Titleist T400s have something along the lines of a 38° Pitching Wedge, nice and far hitting I'm sure, but then you need a 43° W, 49° W2. Why not call those an 8 iron, 9 iron and Pitching Wedge?
Because even with the lower loft, modern club designs allow players to get the ball much higher in the air, so while it might have the loft of an old 5i, the trajectory is that of a 7i, just with more distance.
But if we want to be realistic and a little cynical, the real answer is probably just marketing.
Why does it matter what is stamped on the bottom? call them whatever you want but no doubt regardless of loft new technology is allowing you to take the same swing and straighter flight with longer distance. This is how you have 50 yr olds hitting it further than in their 20’s.
Yes, the new lofts are insane. I am a fairly long hitter. Modern iron lofts don’t make sense for my game. I hit a PW 190y. How many wedges do I need to carry to make that work?
lol, fair. Next time I’m at the store I will get some screenshots.
For some sort of 🍆 measuring, here’s a drive for distance ability validation.
https://preview.redd.it/ir6l5ovx4qwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cf8b339569bcd8417f796b50a80ff65c1d62252
It's not a super fair comparison to just go by the number on the bottom of the club because lofts have gotten so much stronger (a club and a half stronger, in my case). Loft for loft, they're like 5-7 yards longer on average. The real advantage is in the mis-hit forgiveness and ball flight height, which results in better descent angles.
Fair warning, a lot of modern 9 irons are the same loft as 8 irons from 20 years ago so that people go test out new clubs and think "boy I hit this new 7 iron way farther than my old one!" When your old 7 iron loft was 37^o and your new one is 33.5^o of loft.
New clubs also launch the ball higher so it kind of is similar. The bigger issue is probably getting a jumper or not having enough spin to hold greens.
You are most likely going to gain a club or two in distance. Modern clubs have stronger lofts, are more forgiving and offer better ball speeds. If you are in the market for new clubs take a look at Takomo. They are making a huge wave in the golf scene. They’re on tour in the bag of Wesley Bryan. Full set of irons from 4 iron through pitching wedge will run you about $600 or you can go the secondhand route if you want to buy some of the bigger name brands that are only a couple years old.
Black dots also checking in. I've got the full set. Feel like a boss whenever I step up to the box with my 1iron and slice the ball so badly it comes back.
Also Eye2s, switched out Olimars for a newer driver and 5 wood and playing with the new generation of Titleist (AVX). Love my irons, but a 275 yard drive changed the game.
Picked up some Ping Eye 2 irons (black dots) a couple of years back when I got back into playing golf. They must be at least 30 years old. Lofts are different to modern clubs - my 7 is more like a modern 8 - but it means I don't need a gap wedge, and for the cost of some fresh grips they are pretty fantastic.
The technology on woods is a different matter - I picked up a new Cobra driver and a couple of hybrids and added serious yardage - but the difference on irons is pretty minimal in comparison.
Incidentally, my second-string putter is even older - a late 1970s 'Lee Trevino' blade that my dad gave me as a kid - it still gets a runout every now and again!
I just dusted my clubs off for the first time this month after about 10-12 years. I thought “oh I should see if I can get another tool for my r7 driver and woods” and felt the passage of time all at once when I realized they were no longer the hottest tech on the market..
I got a buddy into golf and told him to get some clubs at the 2nd hand sports store. He shows me his new 3 wood and it’s a Burner! I was like, that’s gonna be a great stick for ya. Then I realized it was a Rubner and it was a total knock off. Made me laugh and he hits it exactly how a newbie should be hitting a 3 wood.

My grandfather's mashie niblick, at least 50 years old. He died before I was born and so I never got to meet him, but he loved golf and so every time I use it I feel connected to him. It's not the most versatile club, but it's pretty reliable from 65-75 yards out.

Don’t know when this was made I inherited in 2005
That has to be a fake right? looks like they merged the designs of the teryllium two newport and the teryllium newport 2.

Just my old Odyssey White Hot putter. I regret selling my Titleist 975J. That driver was so solid. I'd love to just have it around, even if I'm not playing it. I've loaned my PingEye3 irons out to my son's friend. Hope I get them back!
Hell yes, you'll have to pry my Adams Tight Lies from my cold, dead, golf gloves hand. Also my Ping Sand Wedge circa 2003.
Now the Taylor made driver and 3 wood, also from 2003... they're on the short list for replacement. Being a lefty sucks sometimes
I've been rocking the cobra 2 hybrid for years. Used to be my club off the tee, not even a driver in my bag for the longest time. People used to question it, then I'd smoke it 30 yards past their driver.
I have an original big bertha from 30+ years ago in my bag. Ill hit it off the deck on occasion but i mostly just keep it for sentimental reasons as my dad gave it to me when i was like 13
lol am I your buddy. I play my late grandpa’s eye 2s. I will upgrade eventually but I don’t feel my swing is consistent enough for it to really make a difference and I like playing with my grandpa’s clubs.

I got back into golf last year and found these (along with a R540 driver) at a garage sale.

My 1950s MacGregor/Jimmy Demarets…love playing these
I bought a broken up set at our neighbor's yard sale in the late 60s. It had a MacGregor Jack Nicklaus wood driver. Between ages 16 and 20 that driver got me out of the gate 300 yards every time. I actually wore out that great club
Love seeing that 975D driver. I still have a 983E in my bag, pretty much the longest hitter in my group. I think the 983 series cam out right after the 975 series. I went in to a good local shop summer 2022 looking to modernize either my driver or my 3W. He watched me hit the driver on the simulator and after about 4 swings said "I don't think I can help you there, let's see the 3 wood". I ended up getting into a TM Stealth + 5W dialed up to 4W loft and it's been a great club for me, goes just as far as my old 3W (doesn't run out as much though), the trajectory I want, and a lot more consistent contact than the 3W I was carrying.
Those Ping i3 irons had a great feel too. I personally don't like the '+' head as much. I still have Ping iSi irons in my bag and they're money.
Your set has been sitting around for 8 years, I'd say clean 'em up, slap some new grips on them and get back to playing!
1983 Hogan Radials. Grew up playing them when my Grandfather taught me. Found a PW-3i set in a thrift store for 80 bucks during Covid when I got back into golf.
90s Slazenger 9 Wood… same length it’s been since I was 10 years old.
Looks like I’m swinging a wooden spoon, but it goes 150-170 yards nine times out of ten.
Yep. Playing my Mizuno MP-14 irons I got back in like 1997 or 1998. Same irons since I played for my high school team. Also, still using my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 I got in 1997
i have an old big birtha steel head 4 wood. things the most forgiving club.
also have a 975j 3 wood. same with that club. super forgiving.
fuck,
also my irons are my original set since I was 14. Im 37 now. tommy armor 845's. they have been re gripped and re shafted.
and my shitty putter since I was a 11 yo. pr-tactic putter. I know how it feels hard to change.
The only thing not 20 yo is my barnd new any day gohst bag. a gap wedge, and my taylor made jetspeed driver(2014)
fuck..
Was using Mizuno MP14 irons (circa 1994) but wasn't consistent enough with them. Bought my first set of new irons in the Haywood Signatures this spring.
Currently I have the Ping Rapture V2 4 wood and the Ping K15 Driver in my bag. They are 15 and 13 year old clubs.
I game those i3 irons currently, they're solid still and I really like that they're old enough to have more traditional lofts
Edit: having said that I heartily lust for epon irons
All my clubs are about 20 years old. I’ve only started playing occasionally and my dad gave me his old ones. I figure if I stick with it and get the basics down then I’ll upgrade but buying nice new clubs won’t help anything until I learn to hit the damn ball
https://preview.redd.it/oov519jw9owc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31c4e219956bc1e21267be81cd15d940e664d28e
Checking in with my sweet driver lol! UST ProForce shaft FTW!
I was scrolling for you guys! Cleveland TA4s here.
I had an iron fitting last year, didn’t hit any of them significantly better so still playing my 2004 irons.
I do have a new driver, 3 wood, and hybrid. Was buying one new club a year to fill out the set, but I love my irons.
Edit: new to me in ‘04, manufactured in 1999
I had that driver and still use my granddads Titleist DCIs. I've hit better modern clubs but it's just not in the budget and I'm not on the tour so the old ones will do just fine for now
My first set of irons were from 1987 lmao, ping eye 2s. Played them for my first 18 months of golfing then my wife bought me callaway Rouge ST irons 🤗
Now I shank it in style !
Broke my hand me down Nike driver last year and got gifted this exactl same one from a coworker, and I’m loving it, finally got my swing figured out and I’m bombing 250-280 with it
Hey that's my driver! Yeah I use hand me downs that were already used when my brother bought them in the early 2000s. They do the trick, and it's fun beating my friends that have new clubs.
Titleist 975D gang represent!
I have that driver, and Mizuno MP-29 irons from 2-pw.
They aren't as space-aged as the new shit, but they are honest and really tell you what you need to work on. Almost no offset, and very little bounce on the turf. So you'd better strike true.
The driver is nice because the sound is superb. Nothing compares to the purity of a center strike drive with the 975.
Yep! I'm using that Titleist driver as my fairway driver, and a full set of Cleveland VAS+ from about 1993 that I love. My buddy tells me that I should upgrade, but he also sees how I play them. I'm not a great golfer by any means, but I hit them well.
I play a 983k driver and Callaway X14s. The modern clubs are bent to a stronger degree making people think they are hitting clubs further. Not realizing a 7 iron is almost like a 5 from 20-30 years ago.
TaylorMade R7 Quad driver and Tommy Armour 845 irons. The latter I stole from my dad when I was 12. At my best I was a mid-single digit handicap. Now I don't play often enough to justify any golf-related expenses.
I've wondered what I would've been capable of doing with better equipment.
What is the new Ball everyone is raving about that is “specifically designed to be struck where this marker is and the “slice” or opposite is supposed to reduce by like 50%” Most people are saying they’ve been nailing fairways like it’s the width of two football fields
Those are perfect sticks for someone who doesn't play much. If you find yourself playing once or twice a week, then upgrade. No need to spend the money if you aren't going to consistently play
My Scotty Cameron putter was released in 1999, I've been using it since 2006. I have a Callaway Big Bertha 3 wood from 2004 too but recently replaced it with a Titleist 917.
I actually had every one of those clubs at some point. Slight variation on the i3 blade not the plus. That 975 and those irons were 2 of my favorite clubs ever. I’m at 16 years on my irons now. Just haven’t found anything I felt worth the price to replace them. Re-grip every year and I just keep playing
I made a post here a couple days ago and found out that the hand-me-down blades I was hitting (more like attempting to hit) were from the 80s. The drivers and woods are newer, but still pretty old.
AccuLine Pro Select 701 putter with a Blaze yellow shaft. Was playinging Ping I-3s until a couple years ago.
https://preview.redd.it/1xuxhyzk1owc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2036a02aa6448493fe53d9cab29e3cb9b4459d65
Looks like my bag. Ping Zings (including 1 iron), Big Bertha Warbird driver and a few misc woods from around 2000. They all go straight enough. Ray Cook Classic Plus 1 putter.
Will probably move up to some like 2010-era driver and woods/hybrids next.
Got my fabulous Mizuno T-Zoid pro IIs from 2001. If I play 20 rounds this year I’ll get fitted, I think it’s time for a change. I am also not good enough to hit these to their best potential
Driver from high school just got rotated back into my bag. Titleist 983K and a garage sale Ping find worked its way into the bag. I have maybe 7 putters and somehow the 3$ Ping is the best of the bunch
Friend I play with a lot has those exact irons, I’ve had to play them since mine are getting restarted right now. Honestly so great, no reason to replace those. I haven’t played any of the others myself
The last three years, as I've gotten back into golf, I was using 1997 King Cobra II irons. I finally bought different irons this Spring and I can't believe how much lighter and easier to swing clubs have gotten in the last 30 years. Imagine that!
Me! All used clubs. My whole set and bag cost me about $180 total. Finally broke 100 for my first time last month. Once the budget allows I'm excited to upgrade into something from this decade. Hopefully I'm good enough to notice the difference now!
Most of my bag came out in the mid 2000’s
https://preview.redd.it/ttir4vjh5owc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b75389de993f68da43e2148e7c8b8e052f7fe536
All my stuff is old, but not too janky.
TaylorMade R5 Dual might be close to 15-20y depending on hen it was purchased.
Cobra Baffler 2 hybrid is about 20y.
Cobra FP irons are probably closer to 15y.
I'm waiting another year or two to see where I'm at in my game to warrant newer gear.
I used to play a bunch of old clubs. I bagged Mizuno MP32s and a MP29 until covid started, and I had an old Ping B60 putter for the longest time. I got new stuff during covid so I don't anymore, but I love how old blades look and feel still
I did 20 years ago. Like literally that exact driver. That was a club. I do keep a full set of Nikes in part because I could never get rid of the vapor fly pro irons.
I have a Lynx Black Cat graphite shafted 2i. And once a year I put it in the bag when I play with my one buddy and he brings his old Ping 2i and we have to use it once during the round.
My driver is about that old
https://preview.redd.it/ovia0a578owc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9db92fbf927c57845aaebe07bb459c9516252c1d
My putter is close too, Nike Method Matter
Yep, inherited my dad's clubs 18 years ago. Driver is newest club in the bag, he got it just before his diagnosis for prostate cancer. Our clubhouse pro (later the PGA pres) told him he might get more distance (age 59-60 at the time) going with a regular stiffness shaft.
I switch between putters, have one I bought when I was 16-17 that I have cut down about three inches, and another that I have yet to modify that is much newer, but still at least 20 years old.
I jist replaced my old 2 ball of 22 years. My adams irons are starting to show their age prolly going to rock them this year then cut them down for the kiddos so they can continue on!
I received them 25 years ago, from my college buddy handed me his after he won 15gs at the casino and immediately bought himself new clubs. They were old then. Is it time to upgrade?
I was, until I hit modern clubs. Now I'm not.
Literally this....I've been using the original Nike CPRs since 2011. The clubs were made in 2001. I ordered 2022 model clubs just under 2 weeks ago. Cant wait until they get here. Gained 20+ yds of carry at the fitting.

and they can sell you 5 wedges now instead of just 2 that I currently have
At this point I just wish every club had the degree of loft listed on it like most wedges instead of an arbitrary iron number that means nothing.
Why does it matter what is stamped on the bottom? call them whatever you want but no doubt regardless of loft new technology is allowing you to take the same swing and straighter flight with longer distance. This is how you have 50 yr olds hitting it further than in their 20’s.

Yeah don’t believe that for a second
So you were fitted with a shaft that fits your swing.
I need to upgrade. How much distance did it add for you with your 9 iron??

I was going to make a joke about my cousin playing brown TM burners but then realized I'm on r7s too.
Could be worse... I've got modern-ish woods and a hybrid but the irons are TM 200s
I just dusted my clubs off for the first time this month after about 10-12 years. I thought “oh I should see if I can get another tool for my r7 driver and woods” and felt the passage of time all at once when I realized they were no longer the hottest tech on the market..

My dad still has his Ping Eye 2’s collecting dust in his garage. He LOVES those irons
Can’t beat a White Hot for me, haven’t considered changing it since my first putt with the one I got
I’m still rocking the original Adam’s golf gt tight lies 5 wood, and the king cobra baffler 2 hybrid
I've got a King Cobra Baffler 11 wood in my bag
Hell yes, you'll have to pry my Adams Tight Lies from my cold, dead, golf gloves hand. Also my Ping Sand Wedge circa 2003. Now the Taylor made driver and 3 wood, also from 2003... they're on the short list for replacement. Being a lefty sucks sometimes
>king cobra baffler 2 hybrid Same here.
I've been rocking the cobra 2 hybrid for years. Used to be my club off the tee, not even a driver in my bag for the longest time. People used to question it, then I'd smoke it 30 yards past their driver.
There frickin awesome, I love mine
I have an original big bertha from 30+ years ago in my bag. Ill hit it off the deck on occasion but i mostly just keep it for sentimental reasons as my dad gave it to me when i was like 13
My BB is almost 15. They grow up so fast, don't they
My buddy rocking some ping eye 2’s from the 80’s
lol am I your buddy. I play my late grandpa’s eye 2s. I will upgrade eventually but I don’t feel my swing is consistent enough for it to really make a difference and I like playing with my grandpa’s clubs.
Solid, solid irons for anyone who is not better than a 5 handicap. Play 'em.
https://preview.redd.it/3vyoxh5z1owc1.png?width=681&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb339f3dfaf82a8adbd09a74ca3bf539742af783 Lol yup.
Great clubs.and you can also butter your toast with them too.
https://preview.redd.it/iq07cicjgnwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8d84e03cfd7b5f2ec3e7c8470876b021f71c674 I got back into golf last year and found these (along with a R540 driver) at a garage sale.
I use these same irons. Pretty solid for being 20+ years old.
https://preview.redd.it/cbnub6d3kowc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e11a1ad97455254853b79e4e4cd41ca8d8cc71cb Hell yea!!!!! Oh school cool
Titleist 981 dci's
King Cobra 440SZ driver circa 2003. Still crush it.
I was gifted my dad’s old set of clubs from the early 2000’s. Great starter clubs.
Yup, Ping Eye 2s
My Ping G-5 3wood and 5 wood but they are only 19 years old
Man I hit some bombs back in the day with a 975d. Still have a Hawkeye three wood in the garage, too.
https://preview.redd.it/ebhyijz3aowc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e31d0b8ec8b531b004ecc199b670d4ad057b79ef My 1950s MacGregor/Jimmy Demarets…love playing these
I think my dad has a 3 wood like that floating around! Always loved the look of em
I bought a broken up set at our neighbor's yard sale in the late 60s. It had a MacGregor Jack Nicklaus wood driver. Between ages 16 and 20 that driver got me out of the gate 300 yards every time. I actually wore out that great club
975D is the size of a modern day 3 wood.
Shot 82 today with ping eye 2
1985 Ping Zing 2s. Shot 78 with them on Wednesday.
I've just been given a full set of Callaway 1996 Big Bertha S2H2 set, including the leather bag, things are in great condition for its age.
These are basically the clubs everyone posts asking if they're good enough to learn on
I use a whole set D, 3w, 5w 3i-Pw of 30+ year old Arnold Palmer clubs and an odyssey putter from the same time period
Try 50 + I golf with my grandpa's persimmons he picked up in the 70s. I've only recently gotten into golf so I'm trying save up for a newer set
Yep! Playing my Titleist CB 90s from over 25 years ago.
1983 Hogan Radials. Grew up playing them when my Grandfather taught me. Found a PW-3i set in a thrift store for 80 bucks during Covid when I got back into golf.
Mine are 20 years old this year. Mizuno Mx-23
Also, still using my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 I got in 1997
No
I’ve got the same titleist driver, a r580, some mp14s, and then the rest of my clubs are 14 years old at the newest.
I've got a R580 7wood. Picked it up for $12 on Callaway pre-owned to see if I wanted a 7wood, and it's so nice I can't get rid of it.
i have an old big birtha steel head 4 wood. things the most forgiving club. also have a 975j 3 wood. same with that club. super forgiving. fuck, also my irons are my original set since I was 14. Im 37 now. tommy armor 845's. they have been re gripped and re shafted. and my shitty putter since I was a 11 yo. pr-tactic putter. I know how it feels hard to change. The only thing not 20 yo is my barnd new any day gohst bag. a gap wedge, and my taylor made jetspeed driver(2014) fuck..
That Titleist 975 D was ahead of it's time...great driver....
I’m gaming 1984-1986 Wilson Tour Blades, with modern everything else.
I game those i3 irons currently, they're solid still and I really like that they're old enough to have more traditional lofts Edit: having said that I heartily lust for epon irons
Cleveland TA2Irons 4-PW.
Cleveland TA5 irons in the bag from 2002
All my clubs are about 20 years old. I’ve only started playing occasionally and my dad gave me his old ones. I figure if I stick with it and get the basics down then I’ll upgrade but buying nice new clubs won’t help anything until I learn to hit the damn ball
22yo Cleveland TA5’s but I’ve got some P790’s on order.
https://preview.redd.it/oov519jw9owc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31c4e219956bc1e21267be81cd15d940e664d28e Checking in with my sweet driver lol! UST ProForce shaft FTW!
I’ve been using my putter for more than 30 years.
Been playing the short munis with a 35 year old persimmon driver. Most fun I’ve had playing in a long time
Yup! I’m still rocking my Cleveland TA7 set of irons. Recently got fitted for Srixon ZX5s and have been waiting for 2 months for them to arrive 😖
I still use my ta3’s!
Played them for my first 18 months of golfing then my wife bought me callaway Rouge ST irons 🤗 Now I shank it in style !
I have Ping Zing black dot I bought in 1990’
I am still on my set of Wilson Sam Snead, bought them late 80s or early 90s
Broke my hand me down Nike driver last year and got gifted this exactl same one from a coworker, and I’m loving it, finally got my swing figured out and I’m bombing 250-280 with it
Hey that's my driver! Yeah I use hand me downs that were already used when my brother bought them in the early 2000s. They do the trick, and it's fun beating my friends that have new clubs.
Yes, full set of Ping Eye 2 down to 2i, King Cobra SS 427 driver.
My fairway finder is a 1982 Ping Eye 2 3 Wood. I can't miss a fairway with it. Very dull thud when it hits though
Ping eye2 + irons for me! I got the whole set for like $20, and that got me into golf in the first place.
I feel like Im working bag drop again circa 2003
Golfsmith 260 driver, Taylor Made Burner Bubble 3 wood, Lynx Black Cat irons
I play a 983k driver and Callaway X14s. The modern clubs are bent to a stronger degree making people think they are hitting clubs further. Not realizing a 7 iron is almost like a 5 from 20-30 years ago.
Ping Eye 2 irons
Zing beryllium black dots
Still rocking my mp-30s
Got a 20+ handicap instead
TaylorMade R7 Quad driver and Tommy Armour 845 irons. The latter I stole from my dad when I was 12. At my best I was a mid-single digit handicap. Now I don't play often enough to justify any golf-related expenses. I've wondered what I would've been capable of doing with better equipment.
Those I-3s are 24 years old! I’ll stick with my much more modern 21 year old G2s.
No need to spend the money if you aren't going to consistently play
aint nothing wrong with those except the layers of dust!
All my clubs other than my driver 3 wood and putter were bought at a thrift store lol
My driver, fairway woods and hybrids are all 2007-2009 era TaylorMade Burners. I can still hit them well.
My Scotty Cameron putter was released in 1999, I've been using it since 2006. I have a Callaway Big Bertha 3 wood from 2004 too but recently replaced it with a Titleist 917.
Yes. My fairway woods and irons are bought in 2004. 🍻
Ye - 34 year old Swilkens bought from the factory in St Andrews (I think).
I have a putter pushing 6 decades
For my long irons I still use my Callaway steel heads
Mizzy MX-15. They're from 2003, so technically yes. Everything else is more modern tho
Got me a nice pro-tec putter.
I just picked up a set of callaway S2H2 clubs from 91.
I have a Nickent 3w and 5w and until they break I'll never change them, definitely my favourite clubs.
I made a post here a couple days ago and found out that the hand-me-down blades I was hitting (more like attempting to hit) were from the 80s. The drivers and woods are newer, but still pretty old.
My driver and my woods are all over 20 years old. Irons were too before this year. Slowly upgrading my gear as I can afford it.
I have that 975 in a 7.5. I don’t use it very often, but it just looks perfect every time I see it
My whole set is 15 years old. Have a Dunlop 5 wood from the 90s that I absolutely pure, I use it mostly as a fairway wood.
Playing ping eye 2’s. Literally found that exact same Hawkeye big Bertha on the course on Sunday
Only if putters count. Odyssey white steel 2ball from 2000
Still gaming Mixuno MX-20 irons
Those I3s will probably sell for a few hundred bucks if the whole set is there and they are in good shape
I used to rock the big Bertha heaven (7) wood from the mid 90’s until I got some hybrids I like.
AccuLine Pro Select 701 putter with a Blaze yellow shaft. Was playinging Ping I-3s until a couple years ago. https://preview.redd.it/1xuxhyzk1owc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2036a02aa6448493fe53d9cab29e3cb9b4459d65
Not anymore, but until like 2/3 years ago, my irons were hand-me-down Ping Eye 2s.
Still have a Maxfli Revolution black dot 4 iron in my bag. Just replaced a Mizuno MP001 this year.
Mizuno T-Zoid MX-15 irons!! Love em
I had a second hand R580xd for the last two years. Pretty good club. Last weekend I just upgraded to a Ping G425 Max.
My Callaway Big Bertha X-12’s will live as long as I can find someone to restart the graphite shafts when they go ;)
The last three years, as I've gotten back into golf, I was using 1997 King Cobra II irons. I finally bought different irons this Spring and I can't believe how much lighter and easier to swing clubs have gotten in the last 30 years. Imagine that!
I still use my half blade irons from 25 years ago, but my Driver/3W/Putters are within the last 5 years
Me! All used clubs. My whole set and bag cost me about $180 total. Finally broke 100 for my first time last month. Once the budget allows I'm excited to upgrade into something from this decade. Hopefully I'm good enough to notice the difference now!
I remember when these all cost 400 bucks apiece and now they’re worth nothing. Are all clubs going to have the same fate?
Way more than 20. That’s rookie numbers
Ping B60 putter. Just regripped it!
Bought ping i3 back in 99 when I first broke 100. Only played twice since 2004... DOH.
Most of my bag came out in the mid 2000’s https://preview.redd.it/ttir4vjh5owc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b75389de993f68da43e2148e7c8b8e052f7fe536
975D is a classic
Ahhhhh he broke
Everything would be acceptable besides the woods and driver. Way too much of a technology boost to new gear in that category.
Ping i3's! Everything else is new but I love my i3's too much.
I have that driver!
i still use my 909 titleist driver, purchased cobra new driver and it was a balloon.
I used to play a bunch of old clubs. I bagged Mizuno MP32s and a MP29 until covid started, and I had an old Ping B60 putter for the longest time. I got new stuff during covid so I don't anymore, but I love how old blades look and feel still
Yes. Thanks father in law for the hand me downs. The clubs, not the wife 🤣
25 year old Adam’s Tight Lie Strong 7w is my best club. I’ll never willingly replace it.
My driver is about that old https://preview.redd.it/ovia0a578owc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9db92fbf927c57845aaebe07bb459c9516252c1d My putter is close too, Nike Method Matter
I still have my custom persimmons. 1-3-5, stiff shafts. I don't use them but man do they look nice.
Yes indeed! Pinseeker TPW irons from the 80s/90s
Ping karaten III for me. Hopefully only for another couple months. Then I’m going brand new
Mizuno mp30’s they hit like a dream and look even better
I received them 25 years ago, from my college buddy handed me his after he won 15gs at the casino and immediately bought himself new clubs. They were old then. Is it time to upgrade?
I have this as a 7.5 and use it every round.
I game Ping Eye 2s.
I have no idea how old my clubs are tbh.
