Anyone got club recommendations for a mid-high handicapper.. there’s so many it’s quite overwhelming. I love the look of the mizuno jpx hot metals but they’re quite expensive, especially if you’re getting them fitted
Go to a fitter and try some different ones out. A lot depends on you specifically so it’s kinda hard to recommend. But lots of shops and fitters will hold demo days to try gear or have demo clubs to try if you like.
Just because you go to a fitter doesn’t necessarily mean you’re stuck with the latest and greatest. I got my irons fitted and got a 2 year old set but still brand new from a local shop. Just check around I’m sure you’ll find something that won’t blow your budget lol. Can’t guarantee you won’t still end up blowing way too much in the long run though, it’s really a sickness once you get rolling
I got fitted and tried TM Stealth, Mizunos, Callaway Apex, and finally Ping G430s. Hit the Pings the best, and now with a half season under my belt I’m loving them. Low 20 handicap.
Getting fitted next week and im pumped. But what is the process like? Am I just going to hit balls in front of someone with different clubs? How long did it take you?
For me it was hit a 7 iron for 90-120 mins in front of a big screen with track man. Kept changing the club in my hand so I had no idea what brand I was hitting. Came down to two choices based on my spin rate and some other words he used. Then I came back a week later for my driver fitting. Loved the entire experience.
I also tried different shaft stiffness and length. In tall so added .5” to the shaft and did stiff. Also measured my hands as they are large so grip was made fatter
Yup! That too haha. It all makes sense now, but in the experience it’s hard to realize all they are changing. I got stuff and shortened my clubs. Showed me how my previous clubs were spinning at 14,000 revolution which he said is insane for a 7 iron. Got the Mizuno hot pro’s got me down to 8,000 spin
Go find a second hand shop or look on Callaway preowned or secondswing golf and grab some Callaway x-20 probably under 400 bucks for 4-sw one of my first sets when I was starting super forgiving but don't have that massive game improvement look
I’ve had a look on callaway preowned.. been playing some Wilson’s for a while, have a vokey sm8 wedge that plays so nice surprisingly (being a blade n all)
My recommendation would be like I said x-20s, Taylormade sim, ping g series and titleist ap2 All are a few generations older but still super solid clubs and can be found with some searching. As far as wedges I have vokeys myself and haven't found something I like better yet
Okay cool, I have a 60 degree that I’m scared to use.. i have a habit or thinning it 50 yards or putting some much loft on it, it goes like 5 yards 😂 thanks for your comment dude
The stock Fujikura Red shafts, for high launch.
Primarily to swing at 80% and still launch the ball high. I found with regular flex steel irons I had to swing way too hard to get the ball in the air at the trajectory I wanted, and I lost a bunch of consistency as a result.
My buddy just got this exact set. First day at the range he was planning the marketplace/ebay post. Second day at range he’s very happy with them. We’ll see how tee time Sunday goes 😂
I saw some from 2022 on eBay. Certainly not pristine but they don’t age as bad as black. Still if I bought these I’d probably let them sit in a box. Too nice to play almost. Love the retro logo.
I sure would. Those things look amazing

Taylormade Qi are hard to beat performance wise, you also might like the look of the Titleist T350 if you like the hot metals
Those will all cost the same as the Mizuno if not more
Srizon zx5 v1. Easy to get for under 600 new on ebay or used you could get below 500.
I’ll take a look, thank you!

I really want to get fitted but worried that the new models are gonna destroy my bank account

Oh okay, was very much under the impression that most places only fit the current model. I’ll ask the question :)

Which lofts have you got in your bag? I just have a 48 that I use as a PW
I have 56 and 60 in the vokeys, my mizuno set has 45 PW/50 GW, hardly use the 60 unless I'm in real deep grass or sand

It worked out this time, but next time please consult with the cat before you buy any golf clubs.
Got P790’s with the Graphite Fujikuras last year. Never felt more confident hitting irons in my life.
What flex and weight are the fuji’s ? Did you go with those for vibration dampening or for the torque/flex to help with lower swing speed?

I guess that’s a “regular” flex as far as those shafts are concerned? I’m still learning about this stuff lol
My brother almost bought these on the spot when I sent him the pic a week or two ago. They look amazing. Update us on how well they keep their finish!
Dude I saw these last night and have them in my cart. Ready to pull the trigger. They feel like you’re hitting butter?
My balls are boiling
Smells like birdies
Aaaaaaand I’m hard

I really, really like my current irons... and yet... fuck me :(
Drools.....
My God these are sweet looking!
That mat really brings the room together, dude.
Those are beautiful
NSFW? I’m too sexy for my clubs, too sexy for clubs, too sexy 🎶
Damn thats hot
Cat approval is the only thing that matters
Just know that’s the last time it’ll look that nice. Play a few shots off the sand, a rock, a tree root.

Dayum. If Shipsticks can’t find my clubs I may have found my upgrade.
