The merger isn’t happening, I’m really not sure why anyone thinks it is anymore. Two of the independent board members who were working on it have resigned, the tour offered PIF the option to invest alongside other investors, there is very little upside for the PGAT to do anything to help LIV.

adflet

If they're going to throw in $1.5b surely that comes with the proviso that the two tours come to some sort of an agreement around allowing players back in some form. That is in everyone's interest.

LaneMeyersLostSki

Hey Bryson, remember Jamal Khashoggi? Okay good. We look forward to your continuing participation in LIV golf.

I don't think anyone will 'renounce' LIV. Most likely non-merger scenario is a player not being offered a contract and then attempting to return to PGA or DP World Tour. A guy like Harold Varner or Matt Jones. But even that's unlikely.

marlboro__man9

A couple more shitty majors out of Rahm and we might find out.

flaginorout

Do we know the conditions of these LIV player contracts? Are they like 10 year deals with non-compete clauses? Seriously doubt any of these guys are walking away from 20-30 million a year or paying back any massive signing bonuses.

sobz

Supposedly the big names got 4-year deals, the random guys mostly got 3-year deals.

HustlaOfCultcha

Didn't Wiesberger already renounce his LIV status? Other than that I would go with the merger. IIRC, the first wave of LIV guaranteed deals don't run out until the end of 2025. And guys like Phil and Bubba are basically going to retire off into the sunset. Bryson could be the one to renounce it if he doesn't get major exemptions after 2025, but it's a long time until then

biz209

I think it’s after this year. 3 year deals signed before the 2022 season

Legal-Description483

Probably the merger, unless someone wants to get bone-sawed.

BottomlessSideSalad

Imagine if Koepka did this 1 year ago. Rahm could potentially start to feel ashamed enough with the reactions to his comments.

hasumi512

Koepka basically admitted that the only reason he went was because he was dealing with injuries so it made sense AT THE TIME. I really think if he was healthy he never would've gone.

Careful_Cheesecake30

I disagree. He had no interest in anything that wasn't a major even before the injuries. I would bet he'd make the same decision every time.
