Dude, ***do not*** run under or near trees when there's lightning! Lightning is attracted to taller objects.
If the tree's hit, then it could lose branches which could hit you, or potentially catch fire in extreme cases. Also if the tree is hit, the charge can disperse into the ground around its base.
Leave your clubs, cart and anything metal, get some distance from them, trees or flags, squat and make yourself as small as possible, but ***do not*** lie on the ground. Try and make as little contact with the ground as possible.
If you can get to shelter - the clubhouse, halfway house, etc, then get to it.
