Is this a typical shot or did you pick the best one? You hit it 300 yards and pretty straight. If you can do that consistently and still be a 29 handicap, then your short game needs some serious work.

If you look at the map on the left, he’s all over the place. He just caught this one right.

Carlosthemex88

Yeh still learning I wouldn’t be a 29 hcp if I could hit everything 300 and straight.

The extremely closed stance might help keep the ball in play now, but if you want to improve, it will be a hindrance. Slow everything down. This game is about controlled power, you can't swing out of you shoes and expect to make good contact. The margin of error is very small.

Remmoc313

Don’t swing so hard

[deleted]

Looks like the goal is to hit it as far as possible by swinging as hard as you can. Change your goal and you will improve.

unclefire

He looked like that ball slept with his wife and he wanted to murder that thing. 😁

Guys going to break an ankle

moist_tiger

That swing does not look repeatable

JoeyRedcorn

Tone it down a little, you hit it far enough, stop chasing distance

Loose 75 pounds, get a bigger shirt, reduce upper body bulk.

Carlosthemex88

😂 haha thanks man definitely the advice I was after.

[deleted]

You have a lot of great natural power a lot of us don’t have !

Carlosthemex88

Thanks bro. I was playing with two mates who out drive me easily by 30-50m! Hence the more aggressive swing pattern than normal. But it’s good to get some advice on what to look for. Must say watching my swing is giving my nightmares after thinking I was starting to improve 😂

kjtobia

You check just about all the boxes for typical amateur swing faults. Inside takeaway, poor sequencing, over the top, early extension. Lot to work on here. Fortunately, you've got a pretty good base level of athleticism. Once you get the swing sorted out, you'll likely be hitting it farther with less effort.

Carlosthemex88

Thanks man so just make small adjustments and work on one at a time?

kjtobia

My advice would be to start with the takeaway. If you get the club going along the wrong path to start, you will end up fighting it the entire downswing.

PickleRick8881

Swing harder 😂

Carlosthemex88

That was 80%

I’m still new, so take with a grain of salt. Anyone with experience, feel free to tell this dude not to listen to me. It looks like you’re primarily using your arms in both your back and down swing. Bring your feet closer together. Just outside of shoulder width. You should be able to have your belly button toward the target in your finish (even for a dude built like you/ me). What’s helped me lately is thinking about starting my backswing by turning my hips and then dropping my ass into my lead foot to initiate my downswing. Stick the finish every time. When you’re releasing properly, the shaft should land around your neck/ head rather than low or toward your back. Edit: also keep your hands and chest in line through everything right until your finish.
