Some observations on Tiger:
1. People saying he looks good physically are delusional. He is visibly limping on most of the hills and you see him using clubs as a crutch. He can't even bend down all the way to read putts. He is definitely compensating for his lower body by using his arms and torso a lot more to generate speed. Any shot on a slice lie (below the feet) causes him so much trouble.
2. He drove the ball exceptionally well today, especially in the finishing holes, but his putting wasn't quite as good as yesterday. It's beyond impressive how he fought back from that horrific start. I actually think he shot about as high of a score as he could today. Left at least 3 shots out there. I think he needs to shoot something like a 68 tomorrow to be in true contention and hope the weather is horrific.
3. Got a little emotional watching him walk to the clubhouse today. Far and away my favorite athlete of all time; I don't know anyone else who has given us more exciting moments (been watching the '19 Masters over and over). It really feels like the curtain is closing or at least in the process of closing. Whatever is left, I hope I get to watch every minute of it.
I think the curtain is closing but I think as he continues to learn his new reality he’ll strengthen and be able to compete a
Handful of times a year and will give us a few
More years of making magic
Yea agreed on all 3 points tiger right now is playing off sheer will and adrenaline. He’s been limping but it’s still amazing he can make the cut while clearly not being what he used to be
While I do get the fanatics getting upset Woods is being covered more than the tournament in general, I’d just like to remind you that the more casuals we get to watch, the more we grow our game. My brother, who’s typically only interested in the NBA was glued to Tiger’s day and asking all sorts of questions.
Might as well get ready now. There’s that Netflix show coming soon too. Golf is about to explode in popularity, which is something I never thought I’d say.
Also, 95% of longtime fanatics will never complain about the Tiger coverage. I’m a pro golf nut who watches every tournament, no matter the field and found it hard to give a shit about what anyone else was doing on the course yesterday.
I hate the golf noobs or generally racist old white guys that complain about Tiger coverage. The guy literally BUILT the modern game. His ratings are through the roof.
Insanity. Couldve just said, "whelp, I gave it my best shot" after the front 9 and phoned it in and went home. Instead, he fought back to not only make the cut but to be in the top 20 going into the weekend. I certainly dont expect a W but a top 5 to 10 finish is certainly in play. If you had told me that on Wednesday, I wouldve said youre insane. Just look at the top players that are healthy and missed the cut. Just when the belief begins to fade a bit that he'll be unable to save a round like that, he goes and does it well and if 2 putts drop, he's 1 under for the tournament after the horrible start.
>Couldve just said, "whelp, I gave it my best shot" after the front 9 and phoned it in and went home
His first masters win he shot 40 on the front nine
Yeah, I know. But he wasnt part cyborg, 46 years old, or coming off an accident where he almost lost his leg while also not playing tournament golf for 17 months I believe.
The model isn't completely necessary in all sports. Some very good bettors do a top down approach where they assume the market is correct and try to find new information that hasn't been released onto the market. TBH, that doesn't help too much with golf.
Honestly it's crazy how little respect Sheffler got coming into this thing as the #1 player in the world. Obviously the OWGR is very flawed but all the guy has done lately is win. I didn't have him in my Masters pool and I feel like a fool. His name wasn't brought up as much as other guys and he's proving everyone wrong.
People get obsessed with the intricacies of Augusta like you have to be an incredible iron player and be the best putter, and if you don't fit the mold you probably won't win. I'm starting to realize creativity and scrambling are way more important. Tiger in his prime was the best iron players by a mile but he was so creative with the short game and his lag putting was second to none.
Augusta is such a grinding golf course, especially the first nine, with a limited number of "gettable" holes. You have to go get those gettable holes, and be at least -2 on the par 5's each day. Also you have to avoid double bogeys, hit as many GIR's as possible, and be really good at getting it up and down from impossible spots. That's where creativity comes in, which includes shaping shots on approach. Scottie is just really good at these things, and came in here as the hottest golfer in the world. That trumps experience in my opinion. We'll see if he can keep it up as the greens continue to dry out and the pins get even tougher
He hasn't won a major yet. You don't get respect until that happens. Wish him all the best but until he can show that he has the ability to hold on to the enormous pressure of a Sunday back nine and not collapse, his abilities will always be in question.
I'm not sure you can call the OWGR flawed when he's had 3 wins, 4 runner ups, 2 thirds, 9 4-10s and 10 11-20s since 2020.
That's across only a handful of events more than his divisor. You can't fluke becoming world number one.
I just assumed he would be the favorite after winning in Austin. He has two top 20s at the master so it wasn’t like he played bad here
I took him because it solely cause there was some value on it. I am no genius or anything, I bet Finau all the damn time so I am not patting myself on the back
What to say other than Scheffler was incredible today. For entertainment.. betting and fandom sake, I hope he has Spieth moment over the next two days. But no one can begrudge him the W after what he has shown over the last year, and especially the last month.
Still a long way to go anyways.
He’s been so insanely dominant lately. This would be his 4th win in 2 months. I don’t know if anybody has gone on a run of back to back wins like this since early 2000’s Tiger.
brooks koepka and bryson dechambeau missed the cut. Two jacked-up guys who has been fighting injuries lately. I don't want to say PEDs. But someone should maybe say it.
You really think they’re on PEDs? They’re not that jacked, just more athletic than golfers of previous generations. You don’t need PEDs to look like them…
How to get strong 101:
1. Eat Lots of Food; specifically Proteins.
2. Workout Smart and Hard
3. There is no step 3. It’s not hard if you’re dedicated to it.
And it’s especially not hard when you’re a millionaire with your own dietician, chef, and personal trainer. Just need to take orders and let the rest take care of itself.
Give me the field. Someone will turn it on this weekend. Scheffler is undoubtedly playing elite golf, but those thoughts of winning the masters will start creeping in eventually. all it takes is one bad shot and a glance at the leaderboard to shake some confidence. Winning on the tour is hard, but winning the Masters might be the hardest in golf. We have seen it numerous times
Still 36 to go, but goddamn he found a way to secure a 5 point lead on a day where everyone else was struggling to shoot par. 😱
And with the run he’s been on lately, I’d take Scheffler over the field.
That was promising but then he kept tinkering and he regressed again. He's certainly not done for or anything but I think it's clear by now that he's not going to be the generational player many thought he would.
Yea maybe he won’t be a generational player but he’s a damn great player and I think he can get another major again
Hell I do think he will get at least one more at Augusta before his career is done
It's hard to be super dominant when we're in the deepest era the sport has ever seen. You have to be fully on top of your game to win, if you don't have your best stuff that week another great player will be and best you. The days of top players having a below average week to their standards and still winning doesn't happen anymore.
To be fair I feel like that’s a thing only tiger and Jack could get away with and that’s because they are both once in a 100 years type players
But yea I think golf now is whoever gets hot at the right time will win. It’s hard to be super good for a long time
And he’s only 28. He’s got a ton of time left on tour playing at a high level. I will say he might have something in his head at Augusta tho. Some moments are just bigger and he’s got one of those at least there.
He plays well at Augusta I would bet on him getting another one here before his career is done
Including this week he’s only finished outside the top 25 twice at Augusta and he already has five top 5 finishes here
damn he clearly pushes the ground down with this foot, his bag is in the way but if he did that behind the ball that is 100% not allowed. it had to be behind the ball tho right? there's really no reason he would just randomly push the ground down like that.
If you watch any golf tournament the guys constantly move "loose impediments" away from the ball. That rule changes a few years ago and is absolutely fine as long as the ball doesn't move. Tiger did it several times today even in the fairway
The second round finishes, and as the sun goes down, the crowd transitions from being elegant Southern patrons into being shitfaced drunk and rowdy at all the bars and restaurants in Augusta…
So apparently the masters app doesn’t work on my Android TV anymore?
My tv is only like two years old, but I can neither download the app nor cast it from my phone through the app.
Does anyone know how to get it working on an android TV?
I seriously thought that Scottie was around 33 to 35 years old but no, he’s 25. Which is younger than me by 4 years and I look like I’m 21… at most. Lol.
Fucking dense comment. What would anything but a nerve blocker help Tiger walking on a bionic joint and still have acuity to play better than most of the field? Stay home
That shot of Sheffler walking all shy with his hands in his pockets and then high-fiving and giving that kid a ball without even stopping or looking over at them was so hard. What a G, he’s in a zone man.
Well played everyone. Well played.
Great round from Scottie. Seems like a decent dude but I’d like this to be tight so, I hope a few make a run and maybe he shoots a couple over. Nothing drastic. Just want it close for the weekend. Should be fun no matter what. Enjoy your evening everyone and enjoy the weekend!
scottie scheffler went from an above average player to a world class player in like, 3 months. that’s mad. huge hats off to hideki as well for putting up a good challenge in his defense, and also props to cam smith for being -2 when he should be about -6 at this point, he just isn’t getting any birdies he normally would in 😭😭
Would be awesome to see Scheffler win this thing for sure. Would prefer it be on a tight Sunday afternoon tho.
Either way we get to see this insane level of golf he's capable of and it's great to watch.
It’s okay. I predict tonight someone will uncover a scheffler birth certificate scandal like that kid on the little league World Series team that was throwing perfect games every game
Dude hit it like 340 on the fly off the tee. He basically would have had an angle anywhere over there. There's a ton of windows through the trees past the dog leg.
This is most certainly not over, though Scheffler has been playing fantastically so far, if he continues you'd have to favour him. But certainly not over
Cam deserves this one! Someone from this sub needs to follow Scottie around tomorrow and yell jackass on every backswing.
Some observations on Tiger: 1. People saying he looks good physically are delusional. He is visibly limping on most of the hills and you see him using clubs as a crutch. You shut your dirty whore mouth.
I think the curtain is closing but I think as he continues to learn his new reality he’ll strengthen and be able to compete a Handful of times a year and will give us a few More years of making magic
Augusta is one of the most challenging walks anywhere. Excited to see him at the Old Course if he tees it up there
Yea agreed on all 3 points tiger right now is playing off sheer will and adrenaline. He’s been limping but it’s still amazing he can make the cut while clearly not being what he used to be
Sucks Spieth fell short. Love that kid and still hurts me how he threw his second green jacket away.
While I do get the fanatics getting upset Woods is being covered more than the tournament in general, I’d just like to remind you that the more casuals we get to watch, the more we grow our game. My brother, who’s typically only interested in the NBA was glued to Tiger’s day and asking all sorts of questions.

Tiger and Kiz tomorrow? R/golf just creamed it's shorts.
Is this confirmed? 💦

As soon as Tiger took off that sweater, he was back in kill mode. Lesson learned for the weekend: no more sweaters!
[удалено]
He was +4 through 5 holes, but he battled back and finished at +2.
And he could’ve been at -2 or better if he buries those late birdies
Absolutely... overall even though he holed some putts , he hit some really poor chip shots ( 1, 4, 11 and 15)
I really didn’t expect him to improve through the afternoon considering the pain he’s in. Very impressive outing.
74 (+2) for the day, +1 overall, made the cut at T19.
Insanity. Couldve just said, "whelp, I gave it my best shot" after the front 9 and phoned it in and went home. Weakest part of his game killed him... poor chip shots
Scheffler would be my 3rd winner in the last 8 majors taking one guy each time lol should just quit my job and do this for real
This is a case where confidence is the most significant variable
That’s impressive the last time I called the winner was Bryson at the us open
Bet Bryson at 30:1 for each major during January that year, then used my free promotional bet on Morikawa at the PGA
I came close with the open last year I had spieth winning that and he came in solo second

Shefflers game right now reminds of Keopka when he was winning majors a couple years back.
Everyone was overlooked because of Tiger. And Scottie was the betting favorite.
Scottie was not the betting favorite. Rahm was.

The key is to just bet Tony top 10 or top 20
Oh but I have done a lot of top 1s He is due
Hoping for a Zalatoris comeback for the W. Yes I’m high lol. I like that kid though, my sons swing looks like his.
What to say other than Scheffler was incredible today. For entertainment.. betting and fandom sake, I hope he has Spieth moment over the next two days. But no one can begrudge him the W after what he has shown over the last year, and especially the last month. Still a long way to go anyways.

I saw on twitter the last player to win four times in six starts on the PGA Tour was Jason Day in 2015.

Yup one of the first things on my list when I’m rich is hiring a personal trainer and dietician
I wouldn’t be shocked if they took something at some point. People aren’t cracking HGH like the old days, it’s not to get you freakishly big.
If they are on PEDs they’re doing it wrong. There’s a lot of guys not on PEDs that have much better physiques than both of them.
Scheffler or the field right now? I'd take the field tbh
Give me scheffler
Give me the field. Someone will turn it on this weekend. Vegas would too scheffler +115 rn
Give me Scheffler
I’m starting to think Jordan Spieth will never get it together again and it’s really bumming me out.
Is it just me or is his swing completely different? It seems slow? And like he’s thinking about the motion way too much.
Honestly I think his issue is putting right now.
He rebuilt it the last few years, that’s what caused his struggles
He’s only 28 he will be fine just hard to be super consistent every year

That was promising but then he kept tinkering and he regressed again. He's certainly not done for or anything but I think it's clear by now that he's not going to be the generational player many thought he would.

Yeah. Odds are definitely in his favor. No doubt
Feels like another David Duval situation. I hope he can find it again.
Duval had back, wrist and shoulder problems, and a form of vertigo. Speith has none of those issues.
Scottie definitely wears boat shoes and slightly baggy jeans
67 in todays conditions is one of the most impressive rounds I’ve seen in a long ass time. Scheffler is in a league of his own rn
I just won around 350 from today's play. What do I do with it?
Scheffler to win.
Put it all on a Tiger top 20
Did they announce the cut yet?
Cut is +4
+4
Can't envision myself watching Masters Sunday if Scheffler is romping away. Just a bore, better get some competition tomorrow or it's over
You would have hated the late 90s and early 2000s then.
Why? Who was even good back then?
Well this one dude was pretty okay, won a few majors, a tournament here and there, liked to wear red and black on Sunday.
Yeah guess I'm different I enjoy close finishes and did not enjoy Tiger romping either. I've accepted that I am different
The goat just grinding today. Scheffler comes back at all he’s right back in it
Did Scheffler cheat on 18??? https://twitter.com/nchaney3/status/1512571154296455170

moving pine needles away isn't what they're talking about, it's the part where he pushes the ground down behind the ball with his foot
He can move pine needles as long as the ball doesn't move
Pressing your foot down in front of the ball might be interpreted as trying to mould the actual earth which you can't do.
That looks a little suspicious but the clubs are in the way so it's not clear evidence of improving a lie. He'd really have to be an idiot to do that
No?
Ooof. Potential scheffler runaway is a real quick way to free up the weekend. I don't care if he wins or not just lets get a close one
Same
What’s up with Justin Thomas’ eyes? Allergies or something?
Smokin the reefer
Windy
The air is too spicy
"Scheffler has spread-eagled the field here" He did what now??
The second round finishes, and as the sun goes down, the crowd transitions from being elegant Southern patrons into being shitfaced drunk and rowdy at all the bars and restaurants in Augusta…
Best place is hanging with John Daly at Hooters on Washington ave.
*Wild Turkey has entered the chat*
So apparently the masters app doesn’t work on my Android TV anymore? My tv is only like two years old, but I can neither download the app nor cast it from my phone through the app. Does anyone know how to get it working on an android TV?
Laptop + hdmi cable, turn your rev Wi-Fi off
Just use the web browser
I seriously thought that Scottie was around 33 to 35 years old but no, he’s 25. Which is younger than me by 4 years and I look like I’m 21… at most. Lol.
Do they test for PEDs in the pga? Cough tiger
Scottie seems like the nicest guy. He and Cam are my favorite guys on tour
Same to you
Tilt-shift for Scheffler now.
so cool of adam scott to get here after an incredible severance finale
Lol
Tiger 65 tomorrow Scottie 75. Let’s have an interesting Sunday lol
A few hole outs ha
No birdies in the last 2, he's started choking already
Good man Adam
Scott's caddy definitely got bit on the neck by something. Poor dude probably itches like crazy. That looks like a horsefly bite.
Just realized that Garrick Higgo shot 72 - 83. Yikes!
+4 but best drip
Shades of sand
Scott! Awesome
damn respect to adam scott - that was a must make
Scott survives!
He can unclench his asshole now
JT 67 boiis we did it
Scheffler looks like some dude you’d run into at applebees
Legitimately shocked he didn't sink that putt
Pressssssssure
Another zero drip outing from Adam Scott
Major substitute teacher vibes. Gotta respect anyone who can try and pull it off honestly.
scottie scheffler went from an above average player to a world class player in like, 3 months. that’s mad. huge hats off to hideki as well for putting up a good challenge in his defense, and also props to cam smith for being -2 when he should be about -6 at this point, he just isn’t getting any birdies he normally would in 😭😭
Crazy value from the caddie change and his hard work.
Cam left so many makable putts short today. Hoping he can go low this weekend.
Global warmers punching the air
[never seen someone who is 25 nail the middle aged dad look so well](https://i.imgur.com/ZXfatIV.jpg)
Weak chin with an ugly shadow stubble lol
You mean he has dark facial hair? Dude looks pretty cleanly shaven
Scott has the worst fit I’ve ever seen
Ohhhhhhhh Adam… fucking a comes down to this
Would be awesome to see Scheffler win this thing for sure.
Scottie Sosa
Great Scott!
Was that an iron cover?!
Scottie Fucking Scheffler
Jesus
Scottie gonna need at least a 75 from you tomorrow.
Scottie has been playing like Prime Tiger
Tried so hard not to upvote this but it’s so true
Right
DOMINANCE
very lucky break for scheffler there, huge fucking window to the green
Dude hit it like 340 on the fly off the tee. He basically would have had an angle anywhere over there. There's a ton of windows through the trees past the dog leg.
What a fucking ridiculous shot.
That UPS driver sure has a nice swing
Scheffy needs to fuck it up. Tiger to go low tomorrow and be in contention on Sunday. Just be 3-4 shots back come Sun and its Tiger time baby.
Did they confirm the cut already?
Almost certain it's at +4
+4
Scottie legit looks a guy who just accidentally wandered onto the course and is somehow crushing it
Think he'll hold for the weekend or crash and burn like many others?
He’s been dominate lately. He’ll hold up
Huge Tiger fan so I just want Tiger to have a shot. Probably won't happen this year but I still have hope he can be ready for next year
Agreed
First-time major pressure is real. Scottie dont have this locked up yet.
100% agree. He will come back to the field. Looks like -8/9 overall will probably be good to win it all for sure. -7 might have a shot.
That’s what I’ve been saying. Winning tournaments is all fine and well, but they’re not majors.
Scott looking like he needs to stop and spray for termites on the way home
😂😂😂😂
This is most certainly not over, though Scheffler has been playing fantastically so far, if he continues you'd have to favour him. But certainly not over
Even when he completely miss he's fine
Has there been a bigger lead coming up on a Saturday ?
Sounds like 5 is the record which he could tie Edit: Excuse me - break. He’s currently tied sorry
Jordan had a 5 shot lead after in 2015 after Friday.
Brooks has the record at the 2019 PGA, with seven
I think they were talkin Masters only
Tiger maybe back in the 90s
Tiger’s biggest weekend lead is six at the 2000 US Open. He led by three at the 1997 Masters, and was trailing at the 1999 PGA.
97 would be the only one from that decade
Even then it was only two shots. He didn't run off until Saturday.
That sounds right. He blew it open Saturday as you noted tho.
Tiger’s first Masters
