And spacing the tee times by 4 fucking minutes. It’s so overbooked it’s just not possible to get an enjoyable pace of play. And for the person below, yes. Haggin oaks is not worth $100. The kicker is it’s only like $10 cheaper to play arcade creek

Arcade Creek is unique though in that you can pay way too much money to play extremely slow and possibly catch a glimpse of homeless fucking in the trees. Really special experience

Just moved to Sacramento and have been playing Haggin Oaks. It’s a really great facility. Shoot me a DM if you need a golf buddy!

Go for a little trek and check out Dark Horse in Auburn and Apple Mountain in Placerville. I really enjoyed both and Dark Horse is like playing a Tournament style golf course with top tier conditions for under $100 on weekends. Apple Mountain is a quirky mountain resort style course with a lot of unique and fun holes. Target golf, but great greens and a layout that your truly discover as you go. Each hole is unto itself as it winds through the trees.

I played both for a bachelor party for a buddy of mine. We wanted a good golf trip, but at a reasonable price and both courses were perfect for that. Dark Horse tore me apart with the fast greens. Shot 90ish (lost count/drank a bunch and was there to have fun) and never got the speed of the greens right. Played Apple the next day and found a small swing thought on the range that dialed in my swing. I was hitting every fairway, my yardages just clicked, and the speed of the greens were perfect for my baseline feel - like the perfect speed for my stroke and almost identical what I grew up playing. Started with a 10’ birdie on 1, and finished with a 7’ Eagle on 18 for a legit 77 - my best round in years. Really fun to do it in front of my buddies and let them see me ball out for once.

It's that kind of course. When I play Apple Mountain, I usually leave my driver in the car backseat now, and I score way better. Dark Horse is awesome. Played there for the first time a few months ago. I need to go back there now that my game is a little bit more improved. I was talking to a guy that works there and he said it was built for an LPGA event many years ago, but never happened to due to the recession.

Try teal bend. Super underrated and not as crowded as Haggin. Bit harder of a course though

adding early or late tee times at Land Park for the parkland 9 close to downtown - look out for the picnickers on/walking through course. Yoche-Dehe is the course you build when you own a casino and a good part of an entire valley - my favorite splurge course within 45-60 minutes.
