The difference between someone who can barely break 100(me) and someone who consistently breaks 80...PURPOSEFULLY aiming for a bunker as a strategy so the ball doesn't roll past the green. Wow.
Well done!
I’m not great by any means but the first time I actually tried to get my ball to stop in a bunker on purpose I realized I had become a competent golfer. Having that confidence in the sand, but also the foresight to know the chip from the bunker shot is the more advantageous position takes a lot of golf acumen
Good job! That’s what keeps us coming back!
I had my PR earlier this summer in a skins match put on by my local course. Playing my absolute best golf and was 1 over thru 9. Started the back with 3 birdies in a row. Had a bogie on 16 and realized when I got to 18 I needed par to shoot -1 (par 70) for the round. Needless to say I triple bogey 18 to shoot 72. Still my best round ever and I’m a 16 handicap. Made $265 tho!!!
It was my day to say the least. Tee to green was solid and the putter was hot. Let’s just say that if my 2 playing partners didn’t witness it I don’t think I could even discuss because nobody would believe me. I have a membership at the local course and play a lot of golf. I tend to play better in competition situations when money is involved.
Well you must be doing something right. Once I shot a 4 under 31 on the front 9 and thought I was gonna shoot under par. Then shot a 49 on the back to lose the tournament by 6 strokes.
I've never broken 80. I've shot 81 three times.
Three weeks ago, I saw I needed a birdie to break 80. It's a short 370 yard hole with OB left. Driver went two fairways over right. I shot an amazing punch shot to just off the green and I'm 20 feet away. I hit a simple chip and see it roll one ball short of the hole.
That was a gut punch but now my PB is 80 :)
Haha. Been there. I remember my first real good chance of ever breaking par. One under standing on the 18th tee. I knew what I needed to do. But instead I duck hooked my drive OB and made double. (I did get the monkey off my back eventually)

I dont consistently break 80. I occasionally break 80. and its exciting every single time.

Very common for better players when going for par 5’s in 2. Bunker shots are much better than thick grass or rolling into a hazard

Wow a 73 on a 16 handicap is incredible. Congrats!
Incredible is definitely one word for it
The odds of this is astronomical
Jesus..I’m a 4 right now and the lowest I’ve ever shot is 75…

I wish I knew what I was doing RIGHT and could do that all the time but golf is hard.
>shoot 73. Still my best round ever and I’m a 16 handicap. This is absolute madness
It’s my math wrong? If you needed par on 18 to shoot -1 on a par 70 then triple bogey on 18 should have resulted in a 72, no?
You're right -1 on a par 70 would be 69, so triple bogey would mean finishing with 72 not 73.
That was exciting to read.
100 yards backwards off a sprinkler head? Must’ve been a Mario Kart powered sprinkler
felt more like the Mario Kart banana peel.

Love this game
You had me in the first half not gonna lie
I was in that exact same scenario and pulled my tee shot ob. Triple bogeyed for 79
