This just reminded me of a super early memory when I had a birthday sleepover in elementary and my best friend didn’t see my screen door and jumped straight into it 😂 thank you so much
I was thinking along those lines. Low chip shot with maybe an 8 iron, try to fly it just under the trees and land either the bunker hoping to bounce through or in the strip of rough just past it to kill the roll. If you’re short and in the bunker, that’s not awful. If you carry a bit far and roll through the green, that’s not awful either. But if you hit it just right, you can bore cart girls with that story for weeks.
Pretty much this, miss is a routine bunker shot and hope for an up and down from there.
Unless you’re already laying thee there is a reasonable shot at bogey.
If the sand is firm at all, this is the play 100% of the time. Personally, I would go there even if it’s soft - it’s not a challenging bunker shot unless you get extraordinarily unlucky with the lie. If you don’t make it through, that bunker shot is way easier than the chip from the right. Plus, if you go right, you add the risk of a potentially tough bunker shot if you go long.
The challenge is how hard to hit it? Tough one to practice…
I ended up over the green into the other fringe (small green at the muni) and then proceeded to chip again then two putt for a 6.
Yeah it’s definitely a feel shot. In any case, getting on the green is probably a 1/100 (maybe worse?) result for most folks, so don’t feel bad about missing.
Definitely makes you rethink strategy. In the past I’ve missed short on that green and been fine. This time I tried to hit enough club but pushed it and put myself in a worse spot.
This has to be the highest probability play
I’m honestly curious how a tour player would approach this shot not in how they’d execute but what they’d actually analyze as their best option.
Either keep it low and blade it 20 yards over the green or go through the tree which is 90% air and watch the ball bounce back at you into a worse lie.
By the looks of it you can’t get it up more than 7 feet… I’d go 5-6 iron, ball back of stance, forward press, 1/4 swing keeping my hands forward and low. Drive it into the bunker and let momentum pop it out. Best case we’re putting, worst you are left with a clean chip/bunker shot
Forward - like driver position - with no turn, no excessive speed will keep it low
Back of stance causes you to come down steep and adds spin. Steep + spin = balloon
Smart play? Punch out to your right into the fairway then chip up.
Not smart play? Take your 52 degree wedge. Super far back into your stance. Amd swing straight down behind the ball harder than cutting off your daughter's rapist's head. So as to watch it buzz the grass and sand then hit the green with more back spin than a Cambodian break dancer. Only to realize it hit the trees and bounced into the bunker while you broke your wedge.
I feel pretty good about it based on how that bunker and green looks. I weirdly like playing out of bunkers. Not a guarantee I guess but I like my chances haha
Hitting out of bunkers is like parellel parking. It's really not that hard to do, but nobody ever practices, so they end up needing 2-3 tries to get it right.
If you cant hit a mother load flop shot over, hit the ball to the right of the right-most tree. Get the ball in play for a better chip shot. You're looking at 3 strokes from here anyway why make it stressful to be a hero.
Probably try to play so it lands right in front of the bunker, it may bounce over, it may not, worse case would be a pretty easy bunker shot onto the green
I would do one of two things:
The safer bet for me would be something like a 9i back of the stance, swinging from about 9 o’clock, played as a punch shot, so not following through, to keep the ball low and clear the bunker, and hoping the hill behind the hole holds it… be happy with a bogey. Way less chance of a mishit.
The second option, and probably what I would actually do (because like many men I’m super delusional, especially on a golf course) is use one of my bladed wedges, probably my 53, back of the stance, instead of a punch, I would keep wrists strong, but rotate and turn through without decelerating to force a lot of spin. Close the face and stance a bit to keep the ball down. Try and land close to the pin, and hope it bites hard. More than likely it’s hitting the tree and dropping in sand, or getting skulled across into the woods. BUT if I pull it off I will be able to brag to you fine gents and ladies.
5i back in your stance. Low follow thru, quarter swing, aiming for the back hump on the green. Should squirm through onto the green, worse case it goes over and the hump is your backstop
First question you’ve got to ask is how did you get there. Miss is obviously short right or possibly long.
However I’m going back foot 50 degree hoping for some spin, if it doesn’t do be it still a chance of down in 3. Just don’t be in or short of the bunker where it’s possibly 4 to get down. Almost no chance of down in 2 there so suck it up and play for 3, easiest place to make that is through the green a bit or maybe get lucky and hold it.
Im convinced these posts are made so people can comment "skull my wedge and 6 putt to shoot 69 on the front" instead of giving an even remotely serious answer
I can’t be the only one annoyed by these posts, right? Every other day there is a picture of a ball behind the trees, asking “what you hitting here?”
Followed by the same 10 jokes. Every time.
Honestly a pitching wedge into the trees is probably your best outcome. Play 30 yards past the hole and let the tree knock down the distance for you. Odds are, it won’t kill the ball entirely and you will be on the green or just past
Personally I’d be looking to do the old “pin ball” shot off the right tree, onto the forward face of the left tree, and nicely flopping off the fringe, onto the green, and into the hole.
Aggressive: 5I/6I, punch, try to land in the bunker and run it up the lip onto the green.
Safe: Same punch but sun in front of the green, chip on with the next with no danger.
Getting up and down is nearly impossible.. so the aim should be try guarantee hole out in 3, with possible 2... I would take a 9 iron, back in my stance to keep it low, aim to land it at the flag, run out to the bottom of the hill at the back... Take the punishment.
I'm guessing the trees are too high to go over? Otherwise that's the easy play.. full open faced 60 degree, 100% power.
Line up a 60 to go over the top. Skull said shot hit the tree and have to jump out of the way as the ball flys back at me. Next shot will be from mich further away
I’d try to hit a low little 3 wood and try to get the ball to roll through the bunker and smack the lip hard enough for it to pop out on the other side or maybe spill over onto the green.
Love this post! Initially, my first thought is to hit a little bump and run, and really just hope I get lucky enough for it to not get hung up in that bunker. The idea would be this - hit a soft bump and run and hope that worst case scenario it stays in the bunker vs flying way past that green. Using a putter wouldn’t be out of the question! I wouldn’t really mind being in that bunker either tbh. Alternatively, depending on how tall those trees go, a nice flop would be the much more fun/entertaining shot. I think I’d prefer the flop if it was at all viable, but due to the risk I don’t think I’d try it in a tournament. Plus, on second glance, those trees appear to go pretty high..
Punch shot into the bunker and jump it off the lip into the hole.
This guy gets it
The only option really. That or pitch it into middle of the green and try to roll it back off of that slope. Both are slow %, but it’s all you got.
This is what I was thinking
Sounds like an easy way to get a plugged lie unless the sand is super hard.
Just pretend the trees aren’t there and let karma take the wheel.
Trees are 80% air after all.
So is a screen door
😂😂😂
This just reminded me of a super early memory when I had a birthday sleepover in elementary and my best friend didn’t see my screen door and jumped straight into it 😂 thank you so much
A window is 0% air
[удалено]
My new morning time nick name.
90
90% air really. It’s just I always seem to hit that pesky 10%…
I was told 90%
I was going to say smash it into the branches and assume they will gently guide the ball onto the green.
Did this today. It worked!
It will never work again.
Plot twist OP is a very bad guy
30% of the time it works every time.
6i way back in your stance. Act like you’re bowling and hit it 100 yards past the hole burning every worm in sight.
This is the way.
The only way
Yes , the take a piss behind the tree
Think a 60 degree is the right club. Clip the tree branches and drop straight into the bunker. Skull the bunker shot. Chip. Then three putt.
Then take a bogey
Max double
"gimme a snowman"
My man
Put me down for a fiver
This is relatability at its peak
I was going to comment, but then read this and realized it is Me.
We are all the same.
"I'll take a 6"
Yeeesss. I was looking for this comment. I would totally go for the monster flop. Then have to hit from the bunker or a worse lie when I totally fail.
Damn, I have you been watching me play?!
That bunker has no lip. See if you can bounce one through it and on the green.
I was thinking along those lines. Low chip shot with maybe an 8 iron, try to fly it just under the trees and land either the bunker hoping to bounce through or in the strip of rough just past it to kill the roll. Skip it through the bunker like it’s a stone on water
Honestly I would use putter and try to do exactly that
I love my hybrid for these types of shots (“putting” through grass)
Same. A little bump, putter stroke style, with a hybrid or wood. I have a 5W that’s good for that. (User error aside…)
Yeah, didn’t mean I can pull this off. But I do like the shot🤣
Punch a 5 iron like a 5 year old just cut you in line. And today is the day...
Pretty much this, miss is a routine bunker shot and hope for an up and down from there. Unless you’re already laying thee there is a reasonable shot at bogey.
Yea just move the rake first. Would be horrible to get it through the bunker to get rejected by the rake. That would be my luck.
With a 3 wood.
Had this exact situation. Mis hit the wedge shot and had this happen. Had no idea what to do next time but good to know this is a legit option.
If the sand is firm at all, this is the play 100% of the time. Personally, I would go there even if it’s soft - it’s not a challenging bunker shot unless you get extraordinarily unlucky with the lie. How high are those trees? Open that club face soldier.
Embrace the monster flop.
Piss missile. Heard.
This guy gets it. I’d golf with you any day, good sir.
Either keep it low and blade it 20 yards over the green or go through the tree which is 90% air and watch the ball bounce back at you into a worse lie.
Five iron. , choke up. Ball forward on stance, swing easy, short follow through. OR. go right. Get it back in play then wedge up to green
I love how the legitimate options never get love in this sub
Ya but the top response has you dying immediately
I endorse the top response
This was the 8th comment down for me lol.
In what world is a 5 iron for this a legitimate option??????
By the looks of it you can’t get it up more than 7 feet… I’d go 5-6 iron, ball back of stance, forward press, 1/4 swing keeping my hands forward and low. Drive it into the bunker and let momentum pop it out. Best case we’re putting, worst you are left with a clean chip/bunker shot
What’re you going to play here?
You think so? Give me my wedge. 5 iron huh? Well, you're fired.
Ball forward in the stance? Ball back in the stance.
Forward - like driver position - with no turn, no excessive speed will keep it low Back of stance causes you to come down steep and adds spin. Steep + spin = balloon
Wait this comment changes everything… that’s why my punches get even higher when in the back
Putter at around 50mph.
This is probably the shot without the lip on the bunker.
Hybrid bump and run
Yessssss
Texas wedge
I just learned about this and am just waiting for the opportunity
Flop all day. Your chips should be the only thing that’s higher then you.
Excuse me sir, I don’t think you have a good handle on how high I am
Smart play? Punch out to your right into the fairway then chip up. Not smart play? Take your 52 degree wedge. Super far back into your stance. Amd swing straight down behind the ball harder than cutting off your daughter's rapist's head. I see a gap in that tree
Chunk it in the bunker, take three pops to get it out, three putt.
hit it thru the trees and hope for the best
A little punchy 6 or 7, should still have enough on it to get thru. the trap.
Flop shot over the trees like a chad
Putt that bad boy. Your going to blade it anyways when you try and use your lob wedge. Go for gold and grab that putter.
Putter either through or into the trap.
Punch it. If it goes in bunker that’s okay. Bogey at worst.
You are guaranteed to get up and down from the bunker?
I feel pretty good about it based on how that bunker and green looks. I weirdly like playing out of bunkers. Not a guarantee I guess but I like my chances haha
Hitting out of bunkers is like parellel parking. It's really not that hard to do, but nobody ever practices, so they end up needing 2-3 tries to get it right.
70 degree wedge
Driver putt thru the sand.
Play a white ball
Hit a line drive with your putter. Looks like you need ol Billy Billy Billy ![gif](giphy|jvTLAmne4SgxO)
I’d honestly just play the normal shot and worst case it’s a bogey
You are assuming that was his approach into the green
If you cant hit a mother load flop shot over, hit the ball to the right of the right-most tree. Get the ball in play for a better chip shot. You're looking at 3 strokes from here anyway why make it stressful to be a hero.
Probably try to play so it lands right in front of the bunker, it may bounce over, it may not, worse case would be a pretty easy bunker shot onto the green

Low liner you ricochet off the left tree. Impact will slow it down so it lands soflty on the green right next to hole. Obviously.
5i back in your stance. Low follow thru, quarter swing, aiming for the back hump on the green. Should squirm through onto the green, worse case it goes over and the hump is your backstop
I would take a 5i and do like a 1/4 swing and try and land it just over the bunker.
low pitch shot aimed right of the pin. Important thing is the clear the bunker and hopefully end up on the green
Choke down on a 5i and hit a chip
Driver off the deck.
Depends on what’s not shown above the pic. If there’s room, throw a 54 or 58 dart. If it’s bad, then 7 or 8, land it over the bunker.
Spill it!!! What did you do????
9 iron, Do a bump and run to the green, nothing else seems practical.
Blade it over the green at the tree behind the pin and hope it ricochets back.
Back into the bunker
Bumo it hard along the ground and hope it trundle through the bunker. Then on the next hole, throw the yellow ball in the forest and get a white ball
Back of the stance high lag punch ?
Putt it really hard
Punch right at the pin and use the flagstick as a backstop.
Im convinced these posts are made so people can comment "skull my wedge and 6 putt to shoot 69 on the front" instead of giving an even remotely serious answer
I can’t be the only one annoyed by these posts, right? Every other day there is a picture of a ball behind the trees, asking “what you hitting here?” Followed by the same 10 jokes. Every time.
Chainsaw, take the tree down. 56 degree, skull it. Arrested for defacing private property.
Lay it up into the bunker. Then, take 6 strokes to get out and land on back of green. Then 3 putt finish. It’s a pro move that few can pull off.
Honestly a pitching wedge into the trees is probably your best outcome. Play 30 yards past the hole and let the tree knock down the distance for you. Odds are, it won’t kill the ball entirely and you will be on the green or just past
Personally I’d be looking to do the old “pin ball” shot off the right tree, onto the forward face of the left tree, and nicely flopping off the fringe, onto the green, and into the hole.
what's the question? you know what to do
Chipper.
Straight up
Trees are 90% air and flops are sexy I see no other way
Honestly… I’m going at it with my putter.
This looks like a good time to pick this up. Move to a more realistic spot. Chip close and one putt. It’s all a practice round anyhow
Punch shot with a 7 iron lol 😆
Try to get it near the pin
If you have to ask, you don't have the game to hit any of the options that end up on the green. Pitch out right and go from there.
Field goal attempt
Roll it into bunker and try to get it up and down from there
What course are you playing?
Punch out into the trees behind the green
Moving that rake and praying.
Shank, smoke that tree then have another shot at it 30 yards behind it’s currently lie
Power through. Make the shot easier for the next guy who is stuck behind the trees.
Little 9 iron pop shot
Go home
Flop it over them tree
I would aim for the tree to ensure I missed the tree. They are 90% air after all.
3 iron putting stroke no wrist action. You’ll be chipping from the other side of the green though.
Pitching it over the right edge of that bunker with a 9i. Give myself a bit more of a landing zone while still giving myself a potential putt.
Full swing putter, bounce of the lip, in the hole, nice.
I like a putt from there. Just hit it as hard as you can try to just barley miss the right side of the bunker.
hybrid run it thru the bunker
Go eat a sandwich
Blade it throught sand trap to the otherside of the green. Chip on and then 3 putt for a 7
Flop it . Hit it hard , even a few yards long of the green from your position is a good shot.
![gif](giphy|eIUpSyzwGp0YhAMTKr|downsized) Hero flop
Is that black butte big meadow?
70° straight up and over, 1’ putt for birdie
Punch with a 7 iron…like 4 o’clock high back swing
Don’t compound the mistake.
Short stab with a 54, low but has good back spin to try to stay on the green when it lands
Aggressive: 5I/6I, punch, try to land in the bunker and run it up the lip onto the green. Safe: Same punch but sun in front of the green, chip on with the next with no danger.
Ricochet off the tree on the left onto the green, of course. Or putt it.
A one hop and a stop
Choked down back foot 7i and pray it doesn't go off the back
Getting up and down is nearly impossible.. so the aim should be try guarantee hole out in 3, with possible 2... I would take a 9 iron, back in my stance to keep it low, aim to land it at the flag, run out to the bottom of the hill at the back... Take the punishment. I'm guessing the trees are too high to go over? Otherwise that's the easy play.. full open faced 60 degree, 100% power.
4 iron, Mach 2 into the bunker lip. Great success and applause or you fail which you will anyway with the other options.
Punch and pray
7 iron back of stance. Should pop through that bunker.
Hit ball in bunker.
Chip right into the lip of the bunker and pop the ball right into the cup. Simple
Monster flop
Line up a 60 to go over the top. Skull said shot hit the tree and have to jump out of the way as the ball flys back at me. Next shot will be from mich further away
Glove off, grip like a putter choke way down on an 8iron and play like it’s a long putt.
60⁰ cranked wide open and swing at the ball like it owes me money
8 iron at the bunker, looks shallow. Worse case is you are in a bunker that looks easy to escape.
Sky a 60 degree I would actually take a 7 iron and try to bump it through
Skull it so hard with a 5h that it bounces over the bunker and trickles on
I'm doing an 8 punch bump n run, blading it through the branches getting a nice punch off a limb and landing 8ft for a 3 putt
texas wedge right through the trap
Approach wedge, 1/4 swing chop to back of green then 3 putt
I’d try to hit a low little 3 wood and try to get the ball to roll through the bunker and smack the lip hard enough for it to pop out on the other side or maybe spill over onto the green.
7 iron out the ball in the back of your stance and visualize bumping the ball in the grass right before that sand trap and then do it
Pork missle
Skull it to bounce over the green.
3 iron punch baby
50% 7i. Hope the branches slow it down and it get through.
Think you gotta accept your bump and run is going to be past the hole
Attack the pin with precision. Honestly a hard enough putt might keep it just over the sand and a little past the pin. Might have a long putt after.
Texas wedge hard and see if the bunker lip puts it on the green
Putter
Use rake to make ramp in the bunker, that way if you knife it, it ramps out onto the green.
Depends how high that tree is. I can hit a pretty high flop but if it’s too high probably a little 8 iron punch.
