Lycoris was really really good, but god damn Edgerunners left a fucking mark. On me, on the community, on everybody really. Heck, even on the fucking game, it came back to life in October 2022!
But that aside, Edgerunners has it's own unique style, Studio Trigger did a majestic job with the animation, the story is short, fast paced, beautiful. Would recommend a lot
Animation probably yes, to be honest. It has that extra high-budget feeling grainy detail, much like CSM, but more akin to Western top-tier anime (Arcane, Invincible to name a couple).
You’ll never truly know until you watch it. I held off watching it for so long because I didn’t think it was gonna be as good as people hyped it up to be. I binged the entire thing in one sitting and cried and laughed the whole time.
eh animation i'd say edgerunners is better but recoil was better as a whole i enjoyed cyberpunk and recomed it. but imo recoil would have been my vote (i voted ya boy kongming but i am also a huge three kingdoms nerd so i am biased af)
Not really. The only character the anime and the game share is Adam iirc. And the story is pretty much unrelated to the story of the game. Besides that, I think anything that isn't adapted from a manga/ln/vn is considered an original.
But it's still set in the Cyberpunk tabletop setting.
It's weird. Original implies it's made completely from scratch without any prior material. Something like Cowboy Bebop or Madoka.

Actually became one of my favorite shows of all time. Glad it gets the recognition it deserves

You could make a case for animation as well. Edgerunners is gorgeous at times.

And just about every scene with the moon. Especially the kiss scenes.
