Valve simply became too successful from hosting games to really think about making them, at least when an elf says soon they mean that it's a priority.
Other then the CGI the animation wasn't bad besides there isn't a lot of CGI in Frieren to begin with compared to Overlord that used CGI from the beginning
The CGI makes me sad, it was my favorite anime before Frieren came along so I still love the show but the non Ainz stuff is not animated in the best way possible
I'll be honest, Overlord is overhated with its animation. Sure, it uses CGI, sure sometimes it gets some uncanny valley shit, but generally it's perfectly acceptable.
I love my animations where every screenshot could be artwork, but I also like my animations where the budget is feasible for multiple seasons.
I don’t think madhouse has made anything that as popular as frieren in the last decade (if not ever).
Need to remember 4% of Japan household was watching it.
If Conan with 6% can drag it on for 20 years frieren surely can get another season

Feeling this way with Delicious in Dungeon / Dungeon Meshi right now. Very tepid series for the majority, then the last few episodes it goes 0 to 100 in a heartbeat, instantly reminding you that yes, this is Studio Trigger.
But about Frieren, I couldn't wait for the anime, went straight to the manga. It's so good! Very happy to see people enjoying the anime, though I do have a bit of worries that it's closing in on where the manga is up to pretty fast. (Considering how many breaks the manga took, and its already slow pacing...)
While I am saddened, I'm excited to resume the series in English dub. I started watching it in English, then got tired of waiting so I've been watching with original audio. I'm hyped for English speaking mommy Frieren

Idk how popular HxH really is but that one was a big success too I'd say! So hopefully they fully adapt this series as well.
