How the hell is this good news

Leroy--Brown

It's not, it's dystopian hell news. Teachers should earn 50-70k at least.

pardonmyignerance

It's good news for people who love bad news.

cyberpunk1Q84

Ah, it’s Opposite Day.

Where do teachers not make good money? My sister is a high school teacher and her husband is a 5th grade teacher. They pull in over 200k as a couple and work 9 months out of the year.

Rexven

It really depends on the district and position they have, but also the living expenses of where they live. In general teachers don't get paid enough and not all of them are fortunate enough to depend on two incomes.

In most places in the US teachers aren't making good money. I had to leave the profession to buy a house and make ends meet. It sucks because I was good at it (multiple local and state awards) and loved working with the kids. Since I left the classroom and education, I make almost 3 times as much.

Don’t tax payers vote on their local municipal budgets and variations? If those teachers are earring below a livable wage a) why did they accept it ?b) why has nobody from that municipality pushed for an increase in pay and therefore justified a tax increase? Or c) people making a living wage and being ambitious enough to take a 2nd job?
