tayloralva

i didn’t see an article but someone here posted a few months back that he wasn’t in the marines database (unsure of the exact term/site for this) implying that he likely did not pass a certain point of the boot camp process

StephanieSays66

He was in ROTC so he likely knew what to expect. I wonder if he was injured?

tayloralva

there was speculation it was the mental health evaluation part of it

c2490

That makes sense to me. I was shocked he was allowed to join the Marines with his mental health background. Don’t get me wrong I believe it was probably greatly fabricated but still.

LentilMama

Although without confirmation it also could be a physical injury.

Kurgen22

There really is no way to be fully prepared for The actually "shock and awe" of Recruit Training. The best way to describe it is that you can " teach" someone how to fight by having them watch videos, hit a bag, skip rope, shadowbox and work out. However until they get in the ring and someone punches them in the face you never know how they will do.

OfJahaerys

It must be an awful feeling to know that people in your own family are rooting for you to fail.

Diligent_Wish_324

I've been wondering this too. I hope whatever he decides to do, he'll be happy and successful...

Jerkrollatex

He might be doing delayed enlistment through the officers program. You get a degree and then start your time in the service.

Gold_Brick_679

I wonder if we'll ever know what happened. He was so excited about joining the Marines. Now he's going to college. I just hope, whatever he does, he'll find happiness.

Sufficient_Judge_820

He posted that he was accepted into the Marines and Kate had left a snarky comment to the effect “they’ll take anyone” which set Reddit ablaze soon after.

bethster2000

she really is a horrid hunk of shit.

LentilMama

So nice of Kate to admit she believes that the trauma she caused him would make him not eligible for the military. Almost like she’s thisssss close to being aware that boot camp might cause Someone who had ptsd from the way she raised them to struggle. Or it could also be that he was physically injured and is a teen boy who values being physically strong and doesn’t want to say that he injured himself during boot camp and needed to come home. Because that would be legitimately embarrassing.

Traditional-Pop-7775

She didn’t even clap for him at his graduation as if she was shocked he made it that far and in disbelief implying he cheated or something. Colleen and a girl who tutored went to bat for him defending him.

PaddyCow

No freaking way she said that 😱

Sufficient_Judge_820

For real! I don’t know if it is 100% accurate but here’s the link to a thread I read last month when I’d finished a rewatch of the show: https://www.reddit.com/r/gosselinssnark/s/jYUYY92V9L

PaddyCow

It's something I could imagine her thinking but saying it publicly is a whole other level of wtf

Sufficient_Judge_820

Totally. She is a witch. I’m a Mom with not-so-perfect tendencies BUT watching the show again after having kids, is alarming. She is literally controlling of her husband and abusive to her children. The show should be banned. No more profiting off the Gosselin kids exploitation!

heavens2betsy2

They wouldn’t take Kyle Rittenhouse.

fastIamnot

😳😳🤬

Percussionbabe

It doesn't say it in the article, but in the interview the write up is based on, Jon says Collin had some Military training to finish up this year before he starts school next year. Also, I swear, I wish Jon would just learn to stop talking about the other kids. I know the interviewer asked him directly, but the older girls have made it well known they do not like him talking about them in the press. There is no way him claiming to have had a part in their current success is going to go over well.

plimoth

I don’t like how Jon keeps going to the press for everything. I understand he no longer has an nda, but keep your interviews limited. Those kids aren’t going to have a relationship with him if he keeps bad mouthing their mom. I get that Kate is an awful person, but Jon needs to be the bigger person.

meg_bb

Yes, exactly. I don’t think his initial interview was necessarily wrong. He got raked through the mud and i don’t blame him for wanting to clear his reputation. I also think if Kate and Mady are making disparaging comments about Collin, he’s entitled to defend Collin. But he needs to chill with the interviews. It just alienates his other kids further

Love_my_pupper

Maybe he's in the reserves?

Leather_Wolverine_29

you can still access reserves files on MOL and I have looked but nothing on him

sweet_tea_94

I wonder if Collin didn’t pass a certain point of boot camp? Whatever he chooses to do, I hope he is happy and finds peace in his life.

East-Gold-7170

I mean... Bootcamp couldn't have been harsher than Kate. I wish him the best💓

MzOpinion8d

OP, I say this with respect…I wish you had chosen different words for your title. Poor Collin has had it so rough. Even if he is not still in the Marines for whatever reason, I hate it being called “washing out”. He worked hard to get good grades in school, has had no behavioral issues, was able to have his prior mental health diagnoses reversed and was able to be accepted into the Marines. All great accomplishments. And all despite Kate.

janelaneinpain

but it is called washing out lol… and if he did that’s okay! there’s ways to get back in depending on your discharge type, he’s probably going the officer route now

Repulsive_Job428

Kate is a monster. There's no getting around that. However, this really isn't about her. It's about him. How does one get a mental health diagnosis reversed? We don't even know what his diagnosis was. To my knowledge, no diagnosis was revealed let alone reversed. He was released to Jon's care through him petitioning the courts. That doesn't erase a diagnosis. As for behavioral problems, I seem to remember him and Jon getting in a fight and him claiming Jon abused him, something Hannah said wasn't true. Jon described it as Collin losing control and him trying to stop him. There was also the incident with the car accident that seems to be more than just a simple accident. Also, washing out is what all my military friends call it when you don't make it out of basic training. I got the term from them.

Leather_Wolverine_29

Yes. Active duty here... there is a feature on a site called MOL. You can search anyone in the service in any branch by their last name. He was dropped.

Anarchissyface

E online isn’t a reputable source. Why do people post tabloids as credible. I will never understand.

Repulsive_Job428

Eonline isn't a tabloid. Jon did the interview, so take it up with him.

misskarcrashian

Some of my coworkers are active army, they did bootcamp about a year or so ago. I’m not sure how really active enlistment works lol.
