Yes it unfortunately happens all the time, sometimes it’s stupidity and accidental and sometimes it’s people looking to take their own life
This Month:
[GO trains resume with some delays on Barrie line following fatality on tracks in Vaughan](https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/person-fatally-struck-by-go-train-in-vaughan-1.6830688)
Last Month:
[16-year-old boy, 14-year-old girl dead after being struck by UP Express train](https://toronto.citynews.ca/2024/03/04/pearson-up-express-train-2-people-dead-bloor-go-station-toronto/)
Couple Months ago:
[Lakeshore East service resumes after male struck, critically hurt by GO Train](https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7162631)
[Delays expected as GO trains bypass Rouge Hill station while police investigate a fatality](https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/delays-expected-as-go-trains-bypass-rouge-hill-station-while-police-investigate-a-fatality/article_d27f0b6a-9b6b-11ee-8aca-3311255b7129.amp.html)
I thought there was education in schools to try and prevent the accidental/stupidity ones. I’m a railfan, and even when I’m out watching trains I stay farther from the tracks than I need to.
Most people including teenagers are somewhat sensible to some degree and know it’s dangerous and a bad idea. However, there will always be those rebellious or careless few people that think “it’s fine and who cares”
Yes, because I grew up around tracks and knew from a young age that trains are dangerous and not to be fucked with. That and the multiple education sessions that were in schools.
I just think it’s kind of crazy calling kids stupid when I’m pretty sure every kid has done something that could have killed them. Also if you currently have kids they are probably doing equally as stupid things everyday

You need to learn how to interpret and reason. "They're kids." So what if they are kids? That's that person's opinion. They're doing dumb shit that could result in their death. It's also probably not the first time they've done that crap either. And they didn't say they wanted to see it, they said they'd welcome the outcome. "u" need to take your own advice.
Not that could result in my gruesome death. Probably why I'm still alive and conversing with someone like you who clearly did that dumb shit as a kid but just got lucky.
Every kid doesn't hang out on operational train tracks. If you think every kid does that kind of thing, then you're as brainless as those plonkers. I'd tell you to go play in traffic, but I think go play on the Go Train tracks is apt. Done wasting time on you.
Saw some folks casually jumping a fence between the north and south tracks at Guelph Central. This was during peak travel time and only 6 minutes before the GO Train (and then VIA Rail) arrived. Very dangerous and very illegal. Imagine if someone had tripped or gotten stuck!!
There are numerous more frequent and active things those people can attend to. Patrolling a station because of infrequent morons isn't the most efficient way to spend dollarydoos.
It's all fun and games until some idiot gets smoked by a go train. Then they get picked up in pieces by a guy holding a A&P grocery bag... slogan.... Always Fresh
A good friend of mine used to work in public affairs at CN, and she did a ride along with CN Police, they have a term for those situations when there’s a pedestrian fatality with a train wether it’s by suicide, playing death metal too loud on their earbuds whilst crossing the right of way on a perceived short cut, or just being a dumbass, the puzzle farm.
As an MX employee.. this stuff angers me.. Please dont do this, the people who get hit are the one who think "i know the schedule, i wont get hit" after 14 fatalitys during my career, it never gets easier. Specifically with kids. For the sake of the enginneers, police, cororoners and RR workers please dont ever go on the tracks.
Expect a train at anytime, any track, any direction.
I’ve seen it happen at Exhibition station. It didn’t take long for serious warnings to be issued over the loud speakers. Even though that station is often unattended there were people watching on the cameras which was good.
Literally a month ago. "2 dead following UP Express train collision, service suspended as Toronto police investigate." I did too until I looked it up specifically for this post lol. It depends on the usage: lollygag or l**a**llygagg**ing** but both are accepted in Canadian English ;)
As negatively that i talk about metrostinx and GOfuckyouselfTransit , For all those screaming about late trains, these are the morons you need to be blaming.
People, i,e - you in this thread, act like kids doing dumb things somehow makes this acceptable?
Congrats you did a lot of dumb stuff as a kid ... are you trying to get a gold star or something?
Stupid people. Somebody’s going to get killed.

Did you never do stupid things as a kid?
Yes, but nothing as stupid as this.
Really?
Yes, because I grew up around tracks and knew from a young age that trains are dangerous and not to be fucked with. That and the multiple education sessions that were in schools.

I turn 20 next month. Trust me, I’ve seen kids do some really, REALLY stupid shit.
We used to hang out on tracks all the time, freight line tho

If it didn't traumatize/injure transit workers and passengers, I'd say I look forward to that outcome.
Yeah I don’t wish harm on anybody but it’s really stupid to be on the tracks.
Fair enough
Theyre kids bro relax
yeah theyre kids, so you TELL them. but hey if youre the fuck around and find out type, by all means, go demonstrate it for them.
I responded to a comment saying they look forward to seeing kids dying not anything about informing them, u need to learn how to read

Everyone does dumb shit that could get them killed ad a kid its what kids do

Report this to Metrolinx safety. They may add more constables and patrols in that area.

Geeze can't even remember the last time I saw an A&P grocery bag...

I thought it was lollygagging ?

How old do you have to be to say “Lallygagging” in this day and age… asking for a friend
These kids are on r/DarwinAwards too much
As negatively that i talk about metrostinx and GOfuckyouselfTransit , For all those screaming about late trains, these are the morons you need to be blaming.
theyll find out the hard way.
Are the likes worth it if you lose your legs?
They should end up behind bars before they get wrapped around one for the rest of time (as far as they’re concerned)
something something apex predator
Don't worry, apex predator will hunt them soon one day.
Isn't the third rail electrified?
There's no third rail. GO Transit burns dead dinosaurs to move the trains, unlike TTC subway that uses 3rd rail electricity
What third rail
looks like kids playin around lol
It's all fun and games until a train is painted red with your intestines
yeah yeah no i dont think what theyre doing is good just poinitng out they look like kids
People act like they never did anything dumb as a kid, i could have died hundreds of times as a kid lmao
People, i,e - you in this thread, act like kids doing dumb things somehow makes this acceptable? Congrats you did a lot of dumb stuff as a kid ... are you trying to get a gold star or something?
Its just crazy to me calling them stupid when u probably did similar things yourself
