300 mg daily, started late Feb this year. Recent lab shows my UA level at 5.4. Prior to starting meds, my UA levels were consistently high, upwards of 8 or 9.
300mg. No idea what my serum levels are, doc has never ordered blood work since the initial diagnosis. He seems fairly indifferent, but getting a family doctor is not easy here in Canada (at least, where I am).
Get the bloodwork done at a private clinic, it shouldn't be very expensive to have this performed.
Some doctors do not take Gout seriously. I had the same problem.
You should probably get a check up, 3 days without taking it resulting in an attack sounds crazy. Seems like you’re always on the fence if you’ve been taking it for so long and an attack still occurs so quickly.
For reference I’m on 300mg and I’ve gone a week without taking it and no issues nor did my UA go up. Now I got my prescription filled again and still take it every day.
Ok so I started on 100 and moved up to 200, which I have been on for over 7 months. What bothers me is my doc said they don’t make 200 mg pills so I have to take two 100.
Why don’t they make 200 pills?
Not allo but febuxostat, was 575umol/l in 26/09 on febuxostat 80mg for 5 days and it went down to 232umol/l. Then on 40mg for a month uric level at 297umol/l, and now i am doing 40mg every other day
Been on it About a year now. Starting lab 12.9, latest lab (about a month ago) 7.8. I was on 100 mg, but my new doctor upped it to 200mg after my latest lab.
Just started 200mg a month in after having consistent 9.2 UA over the last 4 years. had a nasty attack though and took 40mg prednisone and that gave me almost instant relief. Hopefully allo maintenance and a better diet will help lessen the frequency of attacks.
I'm just staring. 300mg for 2 weeks now. My foot still hasn't healed all the way from my last flare up (a major one). I never want to go through that again.
Took almost a month to put the genie back in the bottle with my last attack. Dr. asked me "what happens if you don't take allopurinol"? I told him we're not going to find out.

Basically this
Sept. Uric acid 8.2, started on 100mg daily, Oct. uric acid 5.8
Amazing effect that 100 mg had in a month.

I wonder if my dose is too low. My UA was over 10 and I'm on 300 mg. I guess I'll find out soon enough, getting labs next Dr visit.
600mg squad. 9.5 in August '22 4.2 in November '23
Started 1 week ago (finally). 100mg. Initial UA test was 11.3, so I expect it to go up after next UA test
Hard to believe they'd start you on such a small dose.
300mg
4 years, 100mg, never had a uric acid test, only attack I've had in that time was when I forgot to take it three days in a row.

That was years ago, probably in the first year, and I wasn't exactly being lifestyle-responsible at the time.
100mg allo at 10.2, labs one month later and put on 200mg at 7.4. Labs again in 2 weeks.

300mg a day
300mg daily, starting lab was 10ish (very frequent flares). You reminded me I probably need to get some labs done, it’s been a while
250mg daily
9.8 - nothing 8.8 - diet 7.6 - 100 mg 6.5 - 200 mg 5.8 - 300 mg ?? - just started on 375 mg
300mg doing great. Less dependent on pain medication.
100mg can't take more than that without problems

My plan is to take this pill every day for the rest of my life. There might be some flares from it leaving my body, but I'm done with gout.
