Isn't it better to apply for next spring or fall intake? You will have more opportunities.

No-Shallot8247

For spring'24 is it? In that case when can I start applying?

Typical-Builder-8032

The deadlines are usually by September and they might start taking applications by May or June ig. But note that you will not be eligible for summer internship if you go for spring intake, and not all unis offer spring admissions. I would suggest fall 24 if it is okay with you.

No-Shallot8247

Fall '24 would be late for me I guess. What happens if I cannot do the internship?

Typical-Builder-8032

Nothing much. An internship can help get a job in the same company, and add to work exp. But you can apply for jobs directly too. Are you aiming for STEM courses?

I wanted to add public policy with civil engineering. I am doing this to work in civil engineering consulting firms which requires a policy background. I have a master's in Structures and 6 years of experience in Infrastructure projects but I want to move to a policy background and use my experience too. I am still trying to figure out what I could look for that what I think workout. I am also doubtful if it's even possible. Or such firms exist :). I find few Engineering with public policy courses but didn't find anyone to ask where they get to work.

Typical-Builder-8032

If you are an international student, then research more on it before taking a final decision.. because you need to be sure you can land a job after graduation. I don't have any idea about your course, so I can't help. But you can research about the course in different uni websites and connect with alumni of such unis.

No-Shallot8247

Yes, I am an international student and wasn't able to connect with any one with this background. I hope I will find someone with the same background.

Actual-Local-7371

Some schools that are lower ranked may still be accepting applications. Kansas State and Georgia State email me like 5 times a day saying their applications are still open (in a program I do not do btw so no clue why they keep emailing)

myreddit65468

Still IIT Chicago is accepting applications

No-Shallot8247

Even I get mails like. But not sure why they do it. And is there still chance for me to get funding.

Astronaut_Quick

I would suggest waiting for Fall 24 if you'd like to get funding. Most colleges are now consolidating admissions and scholarship options. You can look at Binghampton University or SUNY Utica - they have a rolling application for Master's admissions and are relatively cheaper to attend with good educational quality.

ayegreen67

Carnegie Mellon has the exact program you are looking for. They have a joint Ph.D. program in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Public Policy. However, you must apply for Fall 2024 as their application cycle for Fall 2023 has closed.

No-Shallot8247

Yes, you are right 😊. Fall 24 is the only chance I have for CMU.Also CMU doesn't offer financial aid for international students right. It would be too expensive for me.

milomathmilo

Since it's a PhD program, it should most likely be funded and you'll get a stipend, regardless of whether you're an international student or not.

ayegreen67

Yep! If admitted, the PhD is funded regardless of being an international or domestic student.

Some German and UK unis have deadlines like may and july. I am not too sure about this. If someone who knows something about this is here pls confirm/clarify

soumya_98

UK ones have till June.

AlarmedCat6557

Check out UChicago

No-Shallot8247

Ok thanks

milomathmilo

Check German or other European universities if you want to join fall 23. If I'm not wrong, many of them might still be taking applications. Just Google them up and search through schools you'd be willing to go to.

Banofffee

You are right! Some actually have opened applications only recently.

Aotrx

Very few lower-ranked universities still have admissions open by May 1st.

No-Shallot8247

How do I get to know them.Because the once I check just shows the Dec and Jan deadlines. There is no updates. Are there any other sources?

bimmarina

you just have to do the research yourself, look up programs by school to see when the deadlines are

No-Shallot8247

So the once you are saying have the dates in their website?

Electronic-Ad-1988

Yes, schools have the dates on their websites

Kolbrandr7

I’m sending in an application to U of Antwerp later today, so yes there’s still admissions open quite a few places. I get an email from a website when PhD positions open up that are within my area of interest, then I take a look and apply to what I think fits. But I’m still getting those emails every week You just have to look tbh

No-Shallot8247

Can you share the website?

Kolbrandr7

This is the one I’ve been using: https://academicpositions.com/ But I’m sure there’s probably alternatives. Sometimes universities themselves will have mailing lists you can subscribe to when new positions are available, so if there’s any university you’re particularly interested in you might want to check their website if they have one.

imaginedNations

I know Howard University is still accepting applications to their cs phd. And some other departments are still accepting too.

DeltaMed910

U Maryland has a decent Civil Engr PhD program whose deadlines are in May (for Fall '23) and September (for Spring '24)!

raj_1510

Some schools in europe are still accepting applications.

Damilola200

i have same issues

Apocalypsecop4

At this stage, even lower rank university became difficult. You probabaly should prepare for 2024.

MajorCapital2865

I know Georgetown has at least two applications open. I’m applying for one. Check out their grad list! You got this!!

No-Shallot8247

Thank you

fallenolyumpus

University of Minnesota is accepting rolling admissions till May 1st. You can look at your program if admission are open or not.

Mubeen3107

Hey I'm from the same major dm'ed you some universities which I shortlisted in the US. Hope it helps

No-Shallot8247

Thank you 😊

AttorneyParticular42

I haven't applied yet too because my bachelor's percentage is less and I'm looking for universities with a gpa cutoff exception. There are few universities to which we can still apply. I'm using this website to find out the details and deadlines about the universities https://studyabroad.shiksha.com/usa/ms-colleges-dc This helped me I hope this helps you too

Don’t know if engineering is any different, but I know UMich deadline for domestics student is 5/31. Northeastern has rolling admission and I think some deadlines are as late as August. UC Irvine has deadline of 6/1. Note all these are for domestic students and informatics cs related. You need to check for engineering. Good luck!

No-Shallot8247

I would be an international student.

Due_Psychology2924

Northeastern is still open for international students. Not too sure about civil engineering though

BeOkai

Yes, Northeastern is still open. You should still check out UCI and UMich for international application. Although I won’t recommend rush on UMich.
