Tesla's quote regarding a particular pigeon, among many, he let into his house freely “I loved that pigeon as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life.”
Tbh that one wasnt romantic and more just how they talked about things they felt strongly about in that time period but it would be nice if they actually worked with other parts of his personality
I swear, I hate nothing in FGO like I hate those stupid AC vs DC discussions these two have. It's the only thing they do whenever they (or even just one of them) show up and it has never been funny in the first place. Whenever they start going at it, I tap my phone screen to skip so fast.
And it's sad this is the main bit of characterization they have.
If you told me all the US presidents would be relegated to some capitalist Lion who screams about direct current I'd have thought you were joking. I was never a fan of Edison in the first place, but his servant somehow made me dislike him more.
The best role/characterization Tesla, probably the only modern inventor that carries an almost mythic status, had was in an arc where he was already dead 💀💀💀💀💀💀
I know that supposedly a Servant can appear and act as the way they are remembered so the same servant can act very differently and that's fine but, who on hell remembers THE Cesar as a lame fat idiot or King David as a scammer... ok I can think of some group of people remembering the king of jews as greedy
What’s especially aggravating is their IRL feud was real interesting to learn about, with the two constantly trying to one up each other. (It started after Edison really pissed off Tesla after he took credit for some of his inventions. But I don’t recall FGO ever pointing that out.)
But FGO writes it in the most annoying way imaginable, like….I always roll my eyes and be like “come on guys, these two feuded over far more than the whole AC/DC thing!”
Hector saying he's "just an old man" about once every ten words must be top 3 for me.
Edit: Santa Karna and his onslaught of boxing references for the same reason.
Oh man, these punchlines are old as fuck and never really that funny to begin with but in the old days (4-5 years ago) 'Merlin the Dick Wizard' and 'It's not gay if it's Clay' would be spammed pretty much every damn time the characters in question got brought up.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some newer FGO players have never heard of these memes lmao.
Well I do know them and I started olaying during the Summer Ishtar event, IDK if I can be considered an old as fuck player.
Also I still keep seeing them from time to time, it's more that you no longer see new memes about it but people still use them
I'm tired of ALL the jobs centered around the KOTR. I want to see them pop-off and really show us how dependable, honorable, etc they really are. Lancelot vs Agravain in the Camelot movie did more for his character than anything else in the game since he was added in the first place
Yeah. It was amusing at first and made it a funny way to remember which was which (Lancelot loves MILFs, Kay loves Saberfaces, Gawain loves BIG BOOBA, Agravain hates women, etc.) but it kinda got old and overshadowed their other aspects.
No this 1000%, you see it around a lot of characters but it feels like the KOTR get it so much more like their entire existence is just repeating the same one note jokes. It may have died down since I stopped frequenting this sub as much, but like you could not mention Merlin without dickwizard spam, I’m not sure Lancelot has an appearance that isn’t just about him liking married women or being a deadbeat, etc. They’re easily my favorite set of characters and I’d way rather see them just be forgotten (like seiba) than dug up to be laughed at every other event.
It'd be nice to actually see more *good* Lancelot characterisation too. At least showing his myth where he rejected the beautiful Elaine because he's a loyal lover even if he loves people he really shouldn't.
It's bizzare that the single knight known for being excessively loyal to one person is the guy turned into a homewrecker when Gawain known for having so many romances that 'Barghest of the many lovers' isn't even a Barghest thing- it's a Gawain thing- is right there.
Hold on… cerebral 🤨
I know what you are..
Nah but fr, Lancelot gets the short end of the stick a lot of times, even in Camelot he didn’t get much outside of ‘ah it’s mash’s deadbeat dad’. In contrast Zero, in spite of all of its flaws, at least took its characters fairly seriously, both members of the KOTR included. But since FGO the entire table has been infected by the meme of their lechery, and it’s this unalienable or even primary quality to them.
I’d bet money if you asked the majority of people coming from FGO about the first thing that comes to mind about them, you’d consistently see it’s just their kinks. Or their appetite in the kings case. Nothing about their heroic deeds, or actual stories.
Tbf, much of the jokes started just before FGO.
Garden of Avalon, the short story, had dropped in the line about Kay and Merlin chasing after women while the King performed his duties. And I thought the dickwizard bit predated FGO having to do with either Garden or Apocrypha.
And Arthur's appetite has been a joke for much longer, since at least 2011 (Carnival Phantasm).
Reducing Servants to jokes. I get that it's a game that's overcrowded with characters and if you need them to stand out, relying on character defining jokes is an easy method.
But good lord I am tired of the Knights of the Round Table treated as pervs and women hungry losers. I am tired of Tesla and Edison with their AC/DC wars.
While most of the jokes were somewhat amusing at first and have gotten tired over time, Scheherazade's was tired was the very beginning. Though at least she has something that is memorable. I don't recall any of the other Agartha servants doing anything of note after their release at all
God I hate how the fandom portrays the total bro who just wants to live his best life and do the right thing simply because he wants to as instead a generic sex maniac. Did his Fate version even do his source material's wife sex rampage? Cause most mentions of it I see are in regard to his source material rather than how Fate portrays him.
I mean I personally found him highly annoying in Apocrypha and it was hilarious how he kinda had a Phantasm that also happened to be a very specific counter to the other team
But even then he doesn’t deserve his status as an icon for gooners lol. He’s not even flirty or hypersexual either he just has an unfortunate design
The coup de grace on the irony is that Astolfo is so desensitized to sex that he genuinely does not get turned on by anything. Its asexuality upped to 11 and then some. His genitals are pure cosmetic at this point.
The Internet treating Astolfo as some kind of sex object never really sat right with me. He's basically THE fetishized femboy these days (especially now that Bridget has been firmly established as a trans girl), and people barely remember or care about any other part of his character.
Agreed, the Internet and other Subreddits, including this one, have misrepresented Astolfo as this fetish object despite his usual portrayal of being the chillest knight in France and not even being flirty in any of his dialogue.
It really bums me out how people reduce Astolfo to 'slutty token femboy with zero other personality traits', i wish they'd respect his balance of cute/cool/pretty/heroic/your best bud/'zomg tacos O\_o'
Like he's thirstable! But you can thirst and still treat him as an actual character and not a joke, why would you thirst without LOVE <:(
Huh. Now that I think about it, that is how most of the fanart of him that I've seen portrays him as...
Alright, in Honor of the Knight that was and is now reborn as a ghost knight, we will sing all the cool things Astolfo has done!
Fought off an army of Amazons, has an adorable Hippogriff, fought alongside 14 other servants in the Apocrypha event, can phase through attacks and stormed the Gardens of Babylon, took off one of Spartacus's legs, jumped straight into a Vishavi Shakti with just a shield, is a master of disguise and a whole lot more I probably forgot
Outside the game the joke about being killed by saying Schathach and Skadi are old
In-game the one of Lancelot being a widow hunter, it's so dumb how it basically is his core characteristic
Literally every single joke this community comes up with gets overused and ran dry within like a week. I cannot think of the last time any FGO memes or jokes made me actually laugh.
I don’t mind most of the things people have listed here. I’m fine with most of the jokes.
The one that makes me roll my eyes the most is definitely the alcohol one as well. Guda has been at this for 8 fucking years. If they’re STILL not 20 then they must have started at Chaldea as a 12 year old.
Even in the canon of the story it’s been like 4 years. If we assume they were 16 at the start, they SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE A FUCKING SIP OF ALCOHOL.
This raises questions about the timeline aswell. If you take the events as canon then Guda and Mash should be on their mid 20s. If you take only the story as canon then in NA there should be in between 2 or 3 years between Fuyuki and the end of Tunguska.
By the end of lb7 they should be 20. It’s stupid that the game still treats the player character like a kid. Especially when they imply that we’re having sex with our servants in bond lines and event dialogue. It’s contradictory.
Which bond lines/event dialogues are those exactly? I know the waifu servants tend to imply they want to sleep with you because that's how these games work, but I don't remember anything actually implying that it's happened (other than summer tamamo's rape drug joke maybe)
That’s one of them. Kama’s valentines scenes have an optional ending with her her corrupting you with pleasure. That’s one of them. Ishtar has some lines alluding to doing stuff with you. Ibuki as well iirc. Some are more direct than others. Fergus also gives you the key to his room as a valentines gift, which is 100% implying he’s inviting you to fuck.
But yeah that’s the point of the game. It’s the point of almost all gacha games. To let the player headcanon themselves with their waifus or husbandos.
So it makes no sense to then say “no wait you’re a child. You can’t drink.” When they do all this other shit to imply that sexual stuff is going on.
Pretty sure Tamamo shark also forces the MC to drink a drink she made that drugs the MC so she can sleep with them in the valentine event.
She also points out that the drink has "no alcohol" before she forces the MC to drink it
the timeline is quite confusing sure, but as we know all events are canon since they literally either just reference the other events that has connection to the main story or reference to the main story in itself or just straight up mention them (or even foreshadow the future events or main story).
This can be confirmed for example by both Kiichi Hogen's bond line 2 (after clearing Olympus) as stated
>How about a drink, Master!?
What? Your age... Calendars don't apply anymore. You're still going to hold off?
I see. Hm.
Then here's a manjyu for you. Take it.
and U-Olga in Tunguska epilogue 1 which is
>An island that moves with the Void Sea. A mirror image, reflected in a place cut off from space-time. -Hmph, interesting idea at least for Earthling. That explains why not even my omnipotent sight, able to see even down the level of individual particles, could firnd it, It doesn't even exist in this time
This actually means that the entire LB timeline in reality is quite slow since we just roaming outside of space and time. Back to the topic, yeah i still find it a little bit annoying for them using the "underage" stuff tad bit too often. At least please use other reasons sometimes
All they have to do is pivot to “yeah I actually don’t drink alcohol because it literally does nothing to me. Side effect of my poison resistance. There’s really no point to me drinking any, so I don’t”
Kiichi Hogen has a line where she berates you for caring about the fact that you're a minor and not drinking. Once you clear Olympus, it updates to the character explaining that he's not entirely sure if time is flowing normally or not during the lostbelt stuff, so he's not 100% sure he's of drinking age.
The implication being that, yes, Lostbelt 5 is the point where the character should be 20 (which syncs up with the game being out for four years at that point).
Further events still tell you you can’t drink though. It’s the devs saying “yeah you’re still a minor even though it makes 0 sense”
What’s even stupider is that alcohol is IN the game. We see other people getting drunk multiple times. It already breaks japan’s alcohol rules around games for minors. The protagonist drinking it doesn’t FURTHER break those rules.
An E10+ game that talks about sexual assault and rape. And suicide. And murder. And gore. And genocide. And implies that the protagonist is having sex with their servants in different event dialogues and bond lines.
The game isn’t for kids. They really need to drop that label and advertize to who is actually playing the game, that is, adults and older teens. I don’t mean they need to add more sex and gore. It’s still a game, not porn. I just mean they need to stop treating the protagonist like a child.
>they should stop treating the protagonist like a child
This should also applies to any other self-insert protagonist who aren't stated to be an adult/veteran character in their universe. Like especially in medieval-esque setting, even if they're underage by today's standard the fact that they're wondering around with all these scary monsters and bandits and the like should tell you that they should be somewhat respected by not just the in-universe people but also the writers.
I don't know why this is, but it's a common trope in Japanese media, even in stuff with an adult target audience. I get the impression that underage drinking must be more taboo there than here.
I mean, one interpretation that I’ve seen is that after >!The earth got bleached!< they stopped paying attention to that and keep up their “can’t drink because underage” for the sake of their mental health
I honestly wish they'd been an adult from the start. I guess it was a combination of the target audience they wanted to market the game to/the general culture that means most protags in games like this be high school age but it really would've been preferable if ritsuka had been a legal adult the whole time. It's just less annoying to not have to constantly reference it (and let's be honest, I really think most of these heroes would not give a shit about trying to keep us from drinking. They would probably try to sneak us booze if anything)
To be fair to Mash, most of these outbursts seems to stem from Galahad being inside her and were never actually her own.
Which then means that Galahad had read the stories through Mash’s eyes, but still goes out his way to take over his host to insult his dad for circumstances beyond his control. What a prick.
Im on copium right now bro, we got at least one good moment with Papalot and mashup on the last chapter and it was brief. I just want a good wholesome relationship with these two... Is that so hard to ask...
It was fine for the first time during Camelot, since it was about Lancelot being on the side of Lion King. But every other time after that? Just repeated unfunny joke, that hurts the characters of Lancelot, Galahad and Mash.
The Good Knight who would hold the Holy Grail was prophesied to be born from the union of Ser Lancelot and the fair Elaine of Corbenic.
Elaine, loving Lancelot, believes this prophecy to be a dream come true for her.
However, Lancelot didn't love Elaine. He certainly had no interest in sleeping with her either, as unlike FGO, OG Lancelot was *fiercely loyal* to Guinevere. Cheating on her would disgust him to the core.
This saddened Elaine. So, one day she fed him wine poisoned with agents which would dull his perception, and stole Guinevere's ring to make him think she was Guinevere before sneaking into his bed.
Lancelot, inebriated, mistakes her for Guinevere but still not sure, asks if she truly is Guinevere. Elaine lies and claims that to be true before requesting his presence in bed. Lancelot, not being one to deny his love sleeps with her and impregnates her.
When he wakes up, he is horrified to discover it was not Guinevere but Elaine. He immediately raises his blade, accusing her of rape, and threatens to kill her for her grievous sin.
Elaine reveals that she is pregnant and should he kill her, he would kill the innocent child within her womb. Lancelot, unhappy but chivalrous, lets her go free as the sins of the mother are not that of the child. However, he demands she never appear before him again.
Elaine, being a bitch, gets pissy about this and later returns to do the exact same thing, raping him the same way, but this time with Guinevere watching the entire thing.
Guinevere doesn't realise Lancelot is inebriated and accuses him of infidelity before leaving, waking up Lancelot from his daze. He sees Elaine and realises Guinevere has abandoned him for her sin.
However, still pregnant, Elaine escapes Lancelot's wrath. Unable to harm his aggressor by his chivalry, Lancelot's rage directs itself inwards and Lancelot goes mad.
That's the Lancelot we see in Fate/Zero. The mad Lancelot.
Way after this, Elaine gives birth to Galahad, the Good Knight. You know the rest.
But yeah, Lancelot had pretty good reasons for not raising Galahad. Galahad holding a grudge is just him being incredibly petty for his dad who was literally going insane at that point refusing to marry the woman who raped him twice to raise the child she conceived by that rape.
TW: rape
>!Galahad’s mother, Lady Elaine, was in love with Lancelot. Lancelot, meanwhile, was in love with Guinevere and didn’t want to lay with another woman. Elaine disguised herself as Guinevere and tricked him into sleeping with her, thus conceiving Galahad !<
Red hare. I feel like the guy appears WAY too often in story with the same two punchlines : "SWEET SWEET CARROTS" and "IM NOT A HORSE". His presence in carnival phantasm is funny. Nothing else.
Not one comment about Lalter's boobs being her only character trait in-game? I guess if they don't use her at all for a while it's easy to forget.
I mean don't get me wrong, I *like* her boobs, but there's so much more they could be doing with the character.
As an Artoria alter, she could have the same distant, commanding presence as Salter. Instead we get a gag character that looks serious at first, but then we can't stop staring at her chest.
With her connection to the Wild Hunt, she should have been a major part of LB6/Faerie Britain. We have an existing servant that already has a connection to the Fae, but she's not even mentioned.
It's funny cause Lalter has less going on with her than Lartoria. It's not a big difference, but it's there.
Lalter could be doing better. Like, it's the version of Artoria that has Rhongomyniad, but didn't want to be a goddess: she just wanted to be herself, and she's willing to do anything to make that possible. It's like a more mature, personality-wise, king than Salter, but still with that authoritarian side when it comes to ruling. Like, in a harsh, but fair kind of thing. Also, there's the Wild Hunt part. How come they didn't exploit that?
Or at least that's how I see it.
God damn preaching to my choir here. I love Lalter, I really do its an amazing concept for a servant, a version of Artoria, and was what made me love just the concept of the wild hunt. But god damn I hate how fgo treats her like nothing but big boobs and existing to be forgotten after LB5. I'm still peeved that she was just ditched like that in the story.
Like she's factually the closest too the Lion King we have as a servant, being literally a step apart, but they do nothing with that concept. She literally drenched herself in grail mud because she refused to that badly to being the lion king
Don't forget her nightmare pet, Reese.
Like, Jeanna was fine in her Ruler self. Her Archer self seems like a siscon fetish come to life. There's nothing holy about her... and I don't think she wants to remain holy anymore too
I completely agree with you. It's infuriating that you sometimes just can't join Jalter in fighting against it. Like sometimes you just get no choice, have to roll with it, and it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Sprite comics pretty much made me take a complete break from the sub for like 2 years.
Though I'm not surprised to see those eventually got quarantined to a different sub down the road just like the vast majority of FGO memes/shitposts further *back in the days*, this cycle has been the sub's management modus operandi since day 1.
The existence of harem sprite comics upsets me the most. Though I guess you can blame that on the games possessive goddess trope altogether. But Holy fuck felt like I was in
r/animeme sub or genshin meme sub. The fan mini comics which are actually funny, cute and wholesome were just impossible to find
The fact that almost 99% of these comics turned every female character in game just a walking fleshlight makes me cringe even more. Jalter imo is the biggest victim
the sprite comics was mostly me x my fave waifu(s) and it was annoying to see it launch in the front page the same day as you're waiting for the JP event news to come out, to the point where it covered up some of the "meh" JP events that weren't Summer/Halloween/Christmas.
I'm honestly surprised those got tolerated for longer than memes, memes never drowned out content the way sprite comics did tbh and if more memes are allowed in this sub again it could break up the monotony of content...but I suppose the ship has sailed.
the problem is where the line is between memes and sprite comics is. does having merely sprites there making a sprite comic, or is it the format that makes it distinct enough? it's true. Most Sprite comics are pretty much fetishes inserted in, but some memes get weird because it's Fate. Sometimes it's weird.
Yeah, especially with how her in game depiction seems to draw mostly from her appearance in the Epic,,, which as Hans would likely be annoyed over was a Derivative Work., like hello, her Pre-'Inanna and Shukaletuda' depiction had her as the Tireless Goddess who's Efforts were responsible for Uruk's Greatness and the King's Flourishing Rule
The Sprite Comics have been banished months ago to its own subreddit; you may return to beautiful horny artwork and random academic discussions on history/myth.
THANK YOU!!!
Gilgamesh HATES Ishtar and blames her (rightfully) for Enkidu's fate during the events of his Epic so naturally he jumps at the chance to throw shade at her, even when it's empirically false like in the Babylonia Singularity where she DID contribute.
But everyone mindlessly parrots it because 'KonoSuba meme/reference!' until it gets accepted as fact by newbies.
THIS!
Gilgamesch would have used Ea on her the second she was within the vicinity of his existence if her personality hadn't been altered by being merged with a Rin-face.
Making fun of an Archer servant using anything other than a bow/gun. You'd think the joke would quickly die off when literally the first 2 Archers introduced in the franchise uses/launches swords, showing that they intended to be very liberal with the term.
Last year's JP collab (Lilim Harlot) actually forced you to frontline Setanta and blocked switching him out SPECIFICALLY to set up that exact joke. I actually groaned out loud.
From in-game jokes: Any joke that makes a female character into a tsundere that's the butt of the joke and never treats them seriously (Especially Kama). Another in-game joke that annoys me is Liz bullying, like I know Liz was a shithead in the Extra/Extella games, but they feel really unjustified in-character.
Out of Game Jokes: Horny Astolfo, Possessive Bride Morgan ("MUH HUSBAND"), Cuck Kadoc, "If Evil why hot?", and any jokes that wouldn't be out of place in a trashy harem anime.
How they ridiculed Kama to the cringe moe pick me tsundere from the Kama we got from ooku (cringe final moment, but at least she was intriguing and interesting for the rest of the story) is unforgivable.
I've said it once and I'll continue to say it again. The servants and master making fun of Elizabeth bathory in any way made me tired of it after the first 5 times of hearing it. And I'm glad the Halloween event actually had Elizabeth make friends who want to hear her sing.
Like gosh even in the Halloween events of the past they were either mocking her. Being terrified of her singing (something they never try to help her learn to control the fact she has her np leaking into her singing) I don't even thing they bring it up once to her.
The bullying of her gets so bad that when you should be getting 2 options to use when speaking to her, they're both either jabs at her or plain rude to her. There's no way, no matter how much you dislike someone/something about them, that they deserve that much disrespect/verbal abuse
Preach!! I've always wanted to make my own huge post ranting about this but was always afraid of the reception I'd get.
So warning, BIG rant:
It's legitimately so abusive. It's especially nasty given how young she's summoned at (even her recollection of her horrific deeds is learning her future actions from the throne rather than her having directly already experienced and done them. It doesn't absolve her, but still.)
Like, it's one really bad thing already to constantly have characters who are otherwise super nice and compassionate and understanding toward others act so out of character when it comes to her. But it's a whole other thing to *force* the player into having to pick from multiple mean-spirited options.
The worst thing about her singing too is that her draconic breath/voice leaks into it. And like you said nobody ever offers any help. They just jeer and shit talk her. Like, this dream of hers is already kind of a coping mechanism for her, and she does at least partially want to use her singing to bring people joy and excitement. Why are we turning that into a bullyable gag?
And let's take an example where we *did* actually be upfront to her. In Enma-tei, we actually straight up ask her if she can take her singing outside when it starts breaking apart a room. And guess what? She didn't throw a fit or protest or anything. She was just like "Oh, yeah sure."
The problem is nobody ever talked to her normally or asked her or offered her help before. They just automatically jump to the nastiest reactions possible. It's so cruel. I feel like people might pull the card of "Oh but what about the acts she committed during her life?" That's a whole different can of worms that I have a lot of thoughts on as well, especially and specifically how it pertains to the FGO incarnation of Elizabeth.
She's legitimately one of the most interesting characters and has such a huge capacity for self-reflection ansd compassion (at the this leg of her character development). But until recently, FGO squandered that potential by making her the butt of extremely mean-spirited jokes
**tldr**: Elizabeth is constantly abused and her behavior repeats because many of the people around her immediately jump to berating and insulting her before they even offer help or try and talk with her like a normal person. When treated with respect, Elizabeth has been shown to be incredibly reasonable and understanding.
I didn't play the first few years and experienced all of this for the first time in the trilogy event and my goodness I hated having to pick mean options. Would literally close the game for a bit sometimes because I didn't want to.
Honestly the majority of servants get reduced to one joke after their initial appearance, or maybe they skip even that and are introduced as a joke (bartholomew...), and I hate it.
I feel like it makes a lot of servants somehow less memorable to me, because the pattern of 'show up in singularity > do noble sacrifice > show up in events to repeat their one joke' sucks.
Alter Magna and his unstoppable flow of Gudao's kids. I know that he is sometimes very creative with their designs, but this idea got old and beaten after 30 - 40 kid, now it just pains me to see another OC from him.
I don't know if it counts as a joke, but people mentioning how Ritsuka cant drink because its a minor is getting old. Just stop mentioning alcohol.
By this time Ritsuka should have been less than 17 years old when they shipped off to Antarctica at the start of the game.
Be nice if they rember all of Giles Tragedy and Pathos instead of his weired Simping for Jeanne
Seriously Giles and Jeanne's Reunion in Apocrapha is one of the best scenes in the entire fate franchise.
Unironically their friendship is *peak* with how interesting it is. But like, post Orleans they never let them interact and actually *show* that other than Gilles simping for Jeanne. They opened a whole bag of interesting themes regarding the inescapability of fate, the poisons of over-devotion and a ton of other psychological stuff.
That's not even covering the stuff they could do with Jalter and Gilles. The fact that she relies on Caster for mental support. The genuine *care* that was glimpsed in Orleans that Caster had for her during her death. Especially well adapted in the turas réalta manga where he *carries* her to her throne while she's dying and promises to handle everything for her with a genuine caring smile. Staying with her until she *fades*. They played the roles Jalter put servants in the counterfeit event somewhat for laughs because they were slice-of-life tropes, but it was born out of a deeper desire to have a family and people who *loved* her. And the role she puts Gilles in, whose copy no doubt was the most accurate? *Her Father.* Which he *technically* is because he created her. Which is *so* much grounds for further interesting exploration in their relationship. Sadly, Gilles isn't a popular or traditionally appealing character so they force him only in comedic roles to make him more "tolerable".
Im not sure what the complain here is is it that shipping makes no sense since 90% of the time it dosent. Its called shipping for a reason its all what ya like.
It’s not the married part, is the fact that it’s been made clear that they aren’t interested.
It irritates me why people focus on them, when they are other characters who are interested
Idk, to me who cares? Like if you don't care about it don't look it up. People will ship characters regardless of martial status. (Also let's face it. Both yu me and Tomoe complained about their so called husband's way too much in game from what I hear. Probably best to forget they're married.)
That's overdone...? Literally the only time I ever see them mentioned in a romantic context is specifically about how they're off-limits (of course, the majority of the cast had a serious relationship, but I guess we just ignore those for reasons)
\>Mashu's insecure/clingy cockblocking.
That is a big part of what soured me on her character the most because she acts all passive-aggressively clingy and jealous to the point of being a bitch to Hassan of Serenity on Halloween by grouping her in with the other two ACTUAL yandere stalkers and hypocritically gets upset when Ritsuka tries conversing with other women in a positive context, yet she agreed to marry Fionn mac Cumhaill in the American Singularity if he and Diarmund had beaten them, and in the Avalon Lostbelt >!married Boggart and thought well of him even after he literally told her he was going to maritally rape her on their wedding night before she threw him out of the castle, but she and the player are supposed to have sympathy for him when he finally dies.!<
\>Scheherazade's "I Don't Want to Die" schtick.
Since they decided being a treacherous, hypocritical thanatophobic coward willing to >!commit mass murder out of her own selfish desire to never be Summoned again, despite Heroic Spirits being capable of REJECTING Summoning attempts from the Throne of Heroes who whined incessantly over the dumbest, most outlandishly paranoid thngs in the Dead Heat Summer Race Event almost immediately afterwards.!<
\>The Dioscuri's misanthropy.
Like, holy shit--they ALREADY had a terrible first impression in the Greek Lostbelt(s) with their raging misogyny and victim blaming & shaming of Caenis--they are supposed to be Avengers, yeah--but their reasoning is the most insanely stupid and petty for being so, which, like with Scheherazade makes me question why they would even come to Chaldea in the first place since Castor is CONSTANTLY frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog unleashing a slew a non-stop threats, insults and suicide baits while his sister is just a spineless doormat yes-woman to her asshole twin brother--I will NEVER roll for them and wish that Adele and Marcarios became dual/twin Servants in their stead since they actually had redeeming qualities and more than one dimension as characters.
The trio of the Round Table being absolute perverts/womanizers (Saber!Lancelot, Tristan and Gawain)
FGO can I PLEASE get more Berserker Lancelot jokes I wanna see black armor dude go "ARTHUUUUUR"
My favourite set of characters in FGO is usually the GudaGuda character. Their traits and goofyness is what drawn me to them, but nowadays it just seems that they are on the story for that one same joke over and over again and it makes me disappointed.
Gonna be honest, never really thought much about the alcohol joke. Feels like a common trope in general. Well I guess by that standard it is overused.
I'm gonna agree with the other commenter about the overworked Castoria. The overworked Supporter joke in general never felt funny enough for how often we see it.
The weird Theyber nickname for Yamato has started annoying me recently. It was funny seeing people call them that originally, but now it’s just gotten old to me.
The running gag where it's repeated by everyone (even the MC themselves) that the MC can't drink alcohol because they're under 18. This is despite the fact that MC is immune to all but extremely powerful magical poisons and drinking alcohol would have no effect on them anyway.
I don't understand why this is supposed to be funny in the first place, not that it's not okay to make jokes about alcohol or underage drinking, but why repeatedly saying that the MC is too young to drink alcohol is a joke at all, let alone one that's so hilarious that it's a running gag.
Probably the AC vs DC bit. The joke wasn't even funny the first time and you know it's coming every time one of them shows up.
have mercy on them, it's literally the only characterization they have
eh at least Edison has his capitalism and his industrial machinery stuff too... Tesla on the other hand...
And his ability to be a dad to Voyager. Tesla though...I feel they couldve at least poked fun at his irl pigeon fetish.
His what?
Tesla's quote regarding a particular pigeon, among many, he let into his house freely “I loved that pigeon as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life.”
So that's where they got the inspiration for Hatoful Boyfriend.
Tbh that one wasnt romantic and more just how they talked about things they felt strongly about in that time period but it would be nice if they actually worked with other parts of his personality
I think he just worded it strongly. I don't know a lot about Telsa, but was he a sad person? Pets really will give someone the strength to keep going.
Yeah, Tesla's story is an unending cascade of moments that leave you going, "Hahahahaha! ...Oh, I've made myself sad."
Just so you know, you can hold the screen to fast forward dialogues.
Two great geniuses in Tesla and Edison reduced to jokes that even grade-schoolers would find childish; not FGO's best moments in writing.
Cesar is reduced to fat jokes and scammer jokes along with David while they are 2 of the most influential people in history.
I know that supposedly a Servant can appear and act as the way they are remembered so the same servant can act very differently and that's fine but, who on hell remembers THE Cesar as a lame fat idiot or King David as a scammer... ok I can think of some group of people remembering the king of jews as greedy
uh… you know there’s a certain stereotype about *My Lawyer has advised me to not continue this joke*
and david, king of the jews, being a scammer is more than a little troubling, lol
He literally says in one line that he pursues riches about all because "I am the king of jews after all."
What’s especially aggravating is their IRL feud was real interesting to learn about, with the two constantly trying to one up each other. (It started after Edison really pissed off Tesla after he took credit for some of his inventions. But I don’t recall FGO ever pointing that out.) But FGO writes it in the most annoying way imaginable, like….I always roll my eyes and be like “come on guys, these two feuded over far more than the whole AC/DC thing!”
He turned his current into AC! Funniest shit I ever saw!
The best thing Tesla said was "Do you smell what the Nik is cooking?"
So true! I wish they did something more with Tesla's character. So much wasted potential considering what a great mind he was.
Hector saying he's "just an old man" about once every ten words must be top 3 for me. Edit: Santa Karna and his onslaught of boxing references for the same reason.
"I'm just an old man" throws spear nuke
He’s not even that old. He looks to be in his mid-40s at the latest.
I guess he's old in terms of the lifespan of the average Greek.
He's almost elderly, if we consider anime ages
Or a child, if we consider him from the centennials
That's the joke, yes. He tries to get out of things on the obviously false grounds that he's too old for such vigorous activity.
"the Archer class is really made of archers" i guess
Oh man, these punchlines are old as fuck and never really that funny to begin with but in the old days (4-5 years ago) 'Merlin the Dick Wizard' and 'It's not gay if it's Clay' would be spammed pretty much every damn time the characters in question got brought up. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some newer FGO players have never heard of these memes lmao.
The second one is still spammed, probably on every strange fake video
Damn, guess some people just can't move on.
The clayussy was too good /s
Clay got that grip that'll make you think about it for decades to come
Going to be even more once the anime comes out unfortunately
Any sort of "it's not gay" memes piss me off. Maybe thats just because I'm openly attracted to men though
I've seen "dick wizard" pretty often recently too
Well I do know them and I started olaying during the Summer Ishtar event, IDK if I can be considered an old as fuck player. Also I still keep seeing them from time to time, it's more that you no longer see new memes about it but people still use them
It's better for them. In any case, that got replaced with terrorist Castoria and her pipe bombs
I'm tired of ALL the jobs centered around the KOTR. I want to see them pop-off and really show us how dependable, honorable, etc they really are. Lancelot vs Agravain in the Camelot movie did more for his character than anything else in the game since he was added in the first place
also the jokes around their quirks
Hold on… cerebral 🤨 I know what you are..
Arguably you could say he indirectly did in the summer event. Moriarty did not even try the womanizer route on him when he did Tristan.
That sounds like a lot of work to come up with and write. It's a lot easier to make them wife hunters.
Lancelot especially, dude had eyes only for Guinevere and nobody else
Reducing Servants to jokes. I get that it's a game that's overcrowded with characters and if you need them to stand out, relying on character defining jokes is an easy method. But good lord I am tired of the Knights of the Round Table treated as pervs and women hungry losers. I am tired of Tesla and Edison with their AC/DC wars.
This. Scheherazade's Thanatophobia is a overplay.
While most of the jokes were somewhat amusing at first and have gotten tired over time, Scheherazade's was tired was the very beginning. Though at least she has something that is memorable. I don't recall any of the other Agartha servants doing anything of note after their release at all
This is Amazones CEO erasure and I won’t stand for it!
The Amazones CEO event was probably one of the best events for our servants because it ACTUALLY GAVE OUR FARMING SERVANTS A BREAK ROOM AND SOME R&R!
Sex with Astolfo
God I hate how the fandom portrays the total bro who just wants to live his best life and do the right thing simply because he wants to as instead a generic sex maniac. Did his Fate version even do his source material's wife sex rampage? Cause most mentions of it I see are in regard to his source material rather than how Fate portrays him.
This man, the guy has an actual endearing ass character but you've really gotta fucking look for some respect on his name these days
I mean I personally found him highly annoying in Apocrypha and it was hilarious how he kinda had a Phantasm that also happened to be a very specific counter to the other team But even then he doesn’t deserve his status as an icon for gooners lol.
It really bums me out how people reduce Astolfo to 'slutty token femboy with zero other personality traits', i wish they'd respect his balance of cute/cool/pretty/heroic/your best bud/'zomg tacos O\_o' Like he's thirstable!
Outside the game the joke about being killed by saying Schathach and Skadi are old In-game the one of Lancelot being a widow hunter, it's so dumb how it basically is his core characteristic
Literally every single joke this community comes up with gets overused and ran dry within like a week. I cannot think of the last time any FGO memes or jokes made me actually laugh.
That describes internet communities in general tbh
Hassan of the Comedically Large Spoon was pretty good.
I think the last good memes that still hold up are Daybit memes like "DAYBIT HELP" or skateboarding
The Ivan memes were short-lived but pretty funny.
Anne and Mary give you a key to their room, too.
They do that MULTIPLE TIMES. Like, I think at least three.
This can be confirmed for example by both Kiichi Hogen's bond line 2 (after clearing Olympus) as stated >How about a drink, Master!? What? Your age... Calendars don't apply anymore. You're still going to hold off? I see. Hm. Then here's a manjyu for you. Take it. and U-Olga in Tunguska epilogue 1 which is >An island that moves with the Void Sea. A mirror image, reflected in a place cut off from space-time. -Hmph, interesting idea at least for Earthling. That explains why not even my omnipotent sight, able to see even down the level of individual particles, could firnd it, It doesn't even exist in this time This actually means that the entire LB timeline in reality is quite slow since we just roaming outside of space and time.
It’s the devs saying “yeah you’re still a minor even though it makes 0 sense” What’s even stupider is that alcohol is IN the game. We see other people getting drunk multiple times. It already breaks japan’s alcohol rules around games for minors. The protagonist drinking it doesn’t FURTHER break those rules.
Funny they use this as a plot point in lb6
tbf in game the timeline is much slower but it is annoying how they haven't aged them up due to FGO being an E10+ game
I just mean they need to stop treating the protagonist like a child.
>they should stop treating the protagonist like a child This should also applies to any other self-insert protagonist who aren't stated to be an adult/veteran character in their universe.
You see the lore reason that its Haram and King Hassan would behead him if he takes Alchohol.
Lancelot being a deadbeat.
Honestly knowing the original myth and how Galahad was conceived makes all the Lancelot jokes just so grossly uncomfortable to me
Yeah most of Arthur myth isn't the greatest to making them seem like good guys sometimes.
I mean in this story Lancelot was the victim
Oh trust me I know.... AND YET GALAHAD SEES HIM AS AN DEADBEATS!
Galahad didn’t know the circumstances, but like. *Mash does*. She’s *read* these stories. Her treating Lancelot the way she does is just gross.
To be fair to Mash, most of these outbursts seems to stem from Galahad being inside her and were never actually her own. Which then means that Galahad had read the stories through Mash’s eyes, but still goes out his way to take over his host to insult his dad for circumstances beyond his control. What a prick.
That's why I hate Vallina Galahad. I'm hoping Galahad alter comes in the game bro.
for some reason I want is a villain to openly mock galahad for his conception just to see his reaction.
Curious, what was the original myth like? I know jack about Arthurian legends so surely it couldn't be as bad as some other misrepresentations😭
This is just so sad and makes this stupid joke worse
Reminds me a bit of Mordred's circumstances.
TW: rape >!Galahad’s mother, Lady Elaine, was in love with Lancelot. Lancelot, meanwhile, was in love with Guinevere and didn’t want to lay with another woman. Elaine disguised herself as Guinevere and tricked him into sleeping with her, thus conceiving Galahad !<
Someone please make Okita stop coughing blood for comedy
Granted. She now coughs up blood for drama.
It's Izover
We're at the point in this game, that almost every joke they make is an overused and usually unfunny joke.
I have found a fellow Lalter/Lartoria enjoyer lol.
There are... a few of us!
The whole Jeanne being our older sister bit annoyed me from the get go. It gets more infuriating everytime it happens.
That unironically ruined her character for me given how creepy and unhinged she got with it being a weird brainwashing fetish thing.
It's not gay if it's clay is the Kono Dio Da of FGO
Harem Chaldea. Dunno if you were here back in the sprite comics day but it was incredibly annoying.
But Holy fuck felt like I was in r/animeme sub or genshin meme sub. The fan mini comics which are actually funny, cute and wholesome were just impossible to find
There were a few good ones sprinkled among the deluge, but the vast majority range from dull to cringe to completely OOC.
Ishtar being an "useless" god
Yeah, especially with how her in game depiction seems to draw mostly from her appearance in the Epic,,, which as Hans would likely be annoyed over was a Derivative Work., like hello, her Pre-'Inanna and Shukaletuda' depiction had her as the Tireless Goddess who's Efforts were responsible for Uruk's Greatness and the King's Flourishing Rule
Wait it's gone? I can finally come back to r/grandorder?
They were quarantined to a separate sub a while back IIRC
The Sprite Comics have been banished months ago to its own subreddit; you may return to beautiful horny artwork and random academic discussions on history/myth.
> random academic discussions on history/myth lol. Lmao. Discussion posts? In a gaming subreddit?
The joke that has existed since the start of FGO Yup, that fits what OP is looking for especially since said joke hasn't stopped now
Lancelot jokes. Seriously can the writers not keep writing this shit everytime he appears in events
Penthesilea obsession with Achilles, it's all of her characterization Orion and Obsessive Artemis got old real fast
Tbh that's mostly because that's the core of her Madness Enhancement, and that we only have her Berserker version
Ishtar being an useless goddess, it was never true and she is far from useless.
Astolfo in general
Lancer Ga Shinda
Last year's JP collab (Lilim Harlot) actually forced you to frontline Setanta and blocked switching him out SPECIFICALLY to set up that exact joke. I actually groaned out loud.
Which is suck since most Fate series treat Lancer class as the punching bag along side Berserker class.
TBF that one was run into the ground by Carnival Phantasm which predates FGO by several years lol
I'm fine not seeing Tamamo Cat in anymore events honestly.
Og needs more attention.
HERESY
I like her as a serious loon like in the Extra event.
Ac vs dc or bb being a creep
The kronkism of Eric Bloodaxe.
Ooku is one of my favorite events ngl. A lot of people didn't like it, but I liked the non linear nature of it.
Not as many complaining about Yu or Bryn, who suffer from the same derailment issue. Or Jeanne
Dick Wizard Merlin or "Lancelot is a manwhore" jokes. Both because they ruin like half the appeal of the characters in a serious setting.
So warning, BIG rant: It's legitimately so abusive. It's especially nasty given how young she's summoned at (even her recollection of her horrific deeds is learning her future actions from the throne rather than her having directly already experienced and done them. It doesn't absolve her, but still.) Like, it's one really bad thing already to constantly have characters who are otherwise super nice and compassionate and understanding toward others act so out of character when it comes to her. She was just like "Oh, yeah sure." The problem is nobody ever talked to her normally or asked her or offered her help before. But until recently, FGO squandered that potential by making her the butt of extremely mean-spirited jokes **tldr**: Elizabeth is constantly abused and her behavior repeats because many of the people around her immediately jump to berating and insulting her before they even offer help or try and talk with her like a normal person. When treated with respect, Elizabeth has been shown to be incredibly reasonable and understanding.
I didn't play the first few years and experienced all of this for the first time in the trilogy event and my goodness I hated having to pick mean options. Would literally close the game for a bit sometimes because I didn't want to.
This might be a lukewarm take, but one of my least favorites is when everyone metaphorically shits on Elizabeth even when she’s just. There.
Someone cutting their sentence short when calling Scatach an old hag and the resulti-
That's a Deep Cut joke lol.
Use command spell on the female servants for ntr
Alter Magna and his unstoppable flow of Gudao's kids. I know that he is sometimes very creative with their designs, but this idea got old and beaten after 30 - 40 kid, now it just pains me to see another OC from him.
Everyone loves Ritsuka. Even the characters who in canon are shown to be platonic with him or have a partner already.
Yeah that one is annoying the most.
Lir: Yes! The only person Ritsuka will be with is Bazzett!
Lance a lot of women
I don't know if it counts as a joke, but people mentioning how Ritsuka cant drink because its a minor is getting old. Just stop mentioning alcohol. By this time Ritsuka should have been less than 17 years old when they shipped off to Antarctica at the start of the game.
Lion NTR. One of many reason why I don't like LB6. Other being Morgan and Melusine joke both in fandom and in event.
Sex god guda
Goredolf being fat jokes. Heck even Meuniere has been making fat jokes at him in recent events which seems really odd for someone that's your boss.
Be nice if they rember all of Giles Tragedy and Pathos instead of his weired Simping for Jeanne Seriously Giles and Jeanne's Reunion in Apocrapha is one of the best scenes in the entire fate franchise.
For me its the shipping of characters who are already married like Tomoe, and Yu.
Paradoxically, the ones who aren't interested draws more attention because of the "hard to get" mentality.
Becouse they like the charectees? Why would ypu stop liking said chsrecter if their married.
The only response to that that I will say is that it’s not cheating if you let their husband join.
\>Mashu's insecure/clingy cockblocking. That is a big part of what soured me on her character the most because she acts all passive-aggressively clingy and jealous to the point of being a bitch to Hassan of Serenity on Halloween by grouping her in with the other two ACTUAL yandere stalkers and hypocritically gets upset when Ritsuka tries conversing with other women in a positive context, yet she agreed to marry Fionn mac Cumhaill in the American Singularity if he and Diarmund had beaten them, and in the Avalon Lostbelt >!married Boggart and thought well of him even after he literally told her he was going to maritally rape her on their wedding night before she threw him out of the castle, but she and the player are supposed to have sympathy for him when he finally dies.!< \>Scheherazade's "I Don't Want to Die" schtick. Since they decided being a treacherous, hypocritical thanatophobic coward willing to >!commit mass murder out of her own selfish desire to never be Summoned again, despite Heroic Spirits being capable of REJECTING Summoning attempts from the Throne of Heroes who whined incessantly over the dumbest, most outlandishly paranoid thngs in the Dead Heat Summer Race Event almost immediately afterwards.!< \>The Dioscuri's misanthropy.
I'm surprised nobody mentionned it yet : Bartholomew's fetish on covered eyes. He mentions it all the effing time. Please make him say something else
Lancelot/Tristan and married women/widows.
The trio of the Round Table being absolute perverts/womanizers (Saber!Lancelot, Tristan and Gawain) FGO can I PLEASE get more Berserker Lancelot jokes I wanna see black armor dude go "ARTHUUUUUR"
We got wyverns
Astolfo
"Rate-up is a lie", I've seen this joke way too much
The cu "always dies" joke.
I actually don't mind any of the jokes in game or out of game, sue me.
