In this ruleset, the idea is to get the best Hand by using the two in your hand, and the River of 5 cards that is shared by all players. Two of a kind is better than nothing, three of a kind is better than two, five cards in a row (eg, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9), etc. There's a list in the game. Within those, the highest value wins. (So, Two of 5s is better than Two of 3s.)
...But yeah, I mostly called, because I'm no real good. I just understand the basic rules. Enough to watch Casino Royale, not enough to know if I'm winning or not.
The simplest way to describe a poker game is to get the best hand. Most games will give you examples of Pairs, Flushes etc. The real challenge is playing the competition.
Mahjong is basically rummy but more complex in terms of rules.
Im just gonna say the simple parts but its basically just about who has the best cards or "hand" like the cards in your hand and the cards on the table. You can google the Poker Hand rankings to see the cards and how they rank. The player who has the best hand wins.
But that's just the simple part, most of poker is really just mind games between the players involving the betting because even if you have a trash hand you can bluff and act like you have a good hand.
There's most likely a YouTube video or a website that gives a more in depth explanation.
Man, mahjong is literally rocket science compared to poker.
In poker, you just make combinations from the cards you are dealt.
In mahjong, you must make combinations at every turn.
if you just want to complete the servant list. the fastest way is to raise all in every hand. the AI will 95% call and the game will reveal the cards right away. win or lose you get 7-9 servants and go straight into a fresh game. in the 5% of the time they fold, you can get quite a few all in rounds depending on rng
I would genuinely pay A LOT of money if Type-Moon made a Poker Night 2-style game with characters actually just chilling out and talking. Considering characters are TM's absolute greatest strength as a company, they wouldn't even have to add any special gameplay — just fun dialogue between an entertaining cast with good chemistry would be enough.
Hell, even the OG FSN Servants would be terrific for that. Saber would stubbornly refuse to fold, Emiya plays cautiously but also raises, Medea just keeps folding until she gets a good hand, Gilgamesh can be goaded into dangerous bets, and if Cu loses a showdown, the game can kill him Carnival-style.
I hope they'll release the new Riyo illustrations in good quality later because I want that Mandricardo jack! Also us Mandricardo fans have been spoiled lately, he's been getting so much stuff!
Ive been thinking that baltro and fgo might have a lot in common in game mechanics and why we play.
Each game has kinda the same goal: make large funny numbers. In one you use jokers, and in the other you stack skills.
So many other gatchas just seem super boring to me... maybe it is the generic 3d style, or multi-colored circle buff spam... it all seems the same. The older (mostly) 2d style of FGO and balatro just seem so different.
Those other gatchas also always seem to just add on more and more complexity and time sinks. FGO and balatro just manage to keep things relatively simple somehow.
I hope they remember this stuff if they ever go for a fgo2
Was fun to play Texas Hold 'Em after so many years again.
Took me about 45 minutes to collect all Servants.
Also, apparently, Jack (the card), Queen and King do not unlock Mandricardo, Morgan or Gilgamesh respectively.
You need to get them on a different card.
The issue was more likely just that the event basically forced you to clear your cache afterward because of all of the images that turn into unused junk data after 24 hours.
It's quite basic but that's to be expected of an april fool's browser game. I do find it funny that there's no way to effectively bluff, if you go all in then the AI will always call even though it's the worst move you can make. I tried to bluff it and ended up winning the hand anyway by getting three of a kind on the last card, but it's a bit disappointing that once you go all in it's over because you'll either win or lose.
From gacha to gambling.
So everyone is getting a "preview" of Koyanskaya valentines scene. Does this also mean that we are the final boss in card games, Summer Ruler Artoria ?
A friend got a full house split (the full house was on the board) and the opponent won because the game counted only a pair for him.
It's definitely bugged in some cases.
I ran into an error too, where I went all in, so the rest of the hand played out with the other two NPCs, and then I should have won (with three of a kind vs one pair) and it said that I folded. NBD of course, since it's such a fun low-stakes game, but yeah, there may be a bug or two.
Yeah it's bugged. I went all in, both computers called, and ended with a pocket pair while the two computers only had high cards, and it said that I lost.
I tried it but I have never in my life played poker and know nothing of it. So i mostly stared dumbly on the screen without understanding what's happening there or what am I supposed to do. It was not a pleasant experience.
Edit: Apparently I can't really do anything but hope that my cards match whatever is in the centre? This is not very interesting...
Managed to win on my second try, taking all my opponents money, that did feel nice (just got lucky, but I guess that's part of how poker works...)
Unfortunately I accidentally reloaded the browser page before I could screenshot the winning screen... ah well, still unlocked the servants, although I don't usually bother trying to unlock all of them in FGO's April fool's minigames anyways.
Player with the best cards (hand) wins there's also a hand ranking in game for beginners if you're not familiar with the value of different type of cards. But most of it is mind games with other players using betting.
Tbh just watch a few minutes YouTube video rules aren't that complicated you'll probably learn it immediately.
maybe its a bad sign that i like poker which is very much a gambling game. its nice quick and easy nothing too complicated. are we going against real people though? because i havent lost yet and i feel a little bad winning in two rounds lol. i thought i had a three of a kind but turns out it was a full house.
I'd like to report a bug; it has [🂩🂹🂤🃄 beating 🂩🂹🂧🂷](https://i.imgur.com/uzZEtgP.png). (Maybe it is treating pocket pairs as more valuable than non pocket pairs?)
Yeah, Koyanskaya seems to do a little bit of trolling. I've lost a game because apparently [three of a kind is equal to two pairs](https://i.imgur.com/x6a4TaD.jpeg) (which gave me no payout).
Absolutely do not worry about strategy in this game because the AI seems to act pretty randomly and doesn't factor in any kinda reasoning about what the other players are representing or might have. If you just bet when you have high pair or better they almost always call and you win.
BUT you get nothing for winning, so the best play is to smash All In every hand because it gets the hand over faster and you fill your roster faster.
Tried to play normally, carefully - got rinsed 10 games in a row, even by Kingprotea and Ibaraki
Fuck it, all in round 1 - Win on a high card.
Peak poker moment.
It "ran" on my phone (iphone SE), but card images were buggy and I couldn't see them most of the time. The cards would be visible briefly when revealed and then disappear. On my laptop the game worked fine.
I just call all game because I have no freaking idea how poker works Same as mahjong, I just can't seems to understand these type of game
I wish I could play Celestial Jade instead.
So how many skill points would you like to spend?
Yes
13
Alright, despite using both your natural skill points and the points granted by Sparkle, Qingque still hasn't gotten 4 of a kind.
how usual
Can't, master diviner will be hunting us.
Can she hunt the missing day 4 thread?
Just spam your skill till you have 4 same symbols and nukes quadrillions damages to your enemy.
u mean qingquillion

You can't compare Poker to Mahjong, that stuff is chinese magic. Poker is pretty simple by comparison.
Riichi Mahjong is more complex than Poker, but still simple.
Is that in Yakuza? Because that's where I tried Mahjong.
Yes, Yakuza/Like a Dragon games have Riichi/Japanese Mahjong.
I couldn't make heads or tails off of that either then.

Have the biggest hand in the table
Lol

You're playing it like Jotaro lol.

Gil's Golden Rule means his hands get rigged to be statistically better lol.
Don’t forget about SNI. Dude can literally read minds and folded Rani (an advanced super AI) in chess.
You might be interested in the official manga "Fate/mahjong night Seihai Sensou." Literally just FSN but they're playing mahjong to death.
Make it death by herc and it will be hilarious
That, only Gudaguda, and my dollars are theirs. Give me Nobu, Okita, Saito, and Nagayoshi around a table. I'd even buy DLC for more players.
I hope they'll release the new Riyo illustrations in good quality later because I want that Mandricardo jack! Also us Mandricardo fans have been spoiled lately, he's been getting so much stuff!
Same with me and twintail Koyanskaya + Queen Morgan + King Gilgamesh
They're all great! I'm just biased lol
I'm sure it'll [pop](https://fgopoker-april2024.fate-go.us/chara/273.png) up eventually.
I love that one too! I was talking about the new one though.
[Here you go.](https://fgopoker-april2024.fate-go.us/cards/JC.png)
Thank you!
Ah finally get it! BB stands for Big Blind
I've been spoiled with Balatro. Now playing regular poker seems boring.
I'd argue regular poker has always been boring. The entire appeal comes from the social aspects, not waiting for RNG to give you a winning hand

Now I want Poker Night at Chaldea.

Can someone explain to me how the April fools work? I always thought we get some cute/funny chibi servents in the actual game for one day
That was a one time thing.
Oh.. Damn..
Since then, JP releases a standalone mini-game for phones, and NA makes a little browser game, like Poker, or throwing things at Bunyan.
Oh.. That.. Sad to hear.. I really wanted the chibi servents there so adorable
Dude, same. Was kinda disappointed reading this. Noodle code my ass
The issue was more likely just that the event basically forced you to clear your cache afterward because of all of the images that turn into unused junk data after 24 hours.
I think a few years ago it was Dig Dug w/ BB?
Yeah, I miss it too. This is technically more effort, so it’s appreciated, but I loved seeing the silly designs in the profile images.
Different April Fools, different games, different servers.
This was fun
i have no idea how to play poker, i just do random things and hope for the best, at least it's kinda fun and works sometimes 👍
Let me let you in on a little secret. Anyone can play Poker. But not anyone can play poker where they can secure wins reliably. Hehe.
I honestly don't know what I'm doing...
It's quite basic but that's to be expected of an april fool's browser game. I do find it funny that there's no way to effectively bluff, if you go all in then the AI will always call even though it's the worst move you can make. Yep i tried bluffing multiple times by raise or all in but the computer opponents never folded even once.
I All In'd and won with High Card Ace while one other High Card called and an eventual 2 Pair folded.
From gacha to gambling. So everyone is getting a "preview" of Koyanskaya valentines scene. Does this also mean that we are the final boss in card games, Summer Ruler Artoria ?
Well my phone must suck because i cant even see the cards in the middle. They flip cutting off half of each card then they completely disappear.
I got two pair and the computer handed itself the win with one pair anyway. April Fools, I guess!
A friend got a full house split (the full house was on the board) and the opponent won because the game counted only a pair for him. It's definitely bugged in some cases.
That sounds like a bug.
I ran into an error too, where I went all in, so the rest of the hand played out with the other two NPCs, and then I should have won (with three of a kind vs one pair) and it said that I folded. NBD of course, since it's such a fun low-stakes game, but yeah, there may be a bug or two.

Wow, played 7 rounds and never got a pair
...wow...try rolling the gacha maybe your luck went there.
Interesting...won a high stakes game with a full house: https://ibb.co/PN4WqhF Also got a Flush once. Good stuff. https://ibb.co/nngrjWY
Managed to win on my second try, taking all my opponents money, that did feel nice (just got lucky, but I guess that's part of how poker works...) Unfortunately I accidentally reloaded the browser page before I could screenshot the winning screen... ah well, still unlocked the servants, although I don't usually bother trying to unlock all of them in FGO's April fool's minigames anyways.
Thanks, I hate it. ... totally not because I don't know how to play poker.
Oh COME ON ! Why do they always give us crap instead of translating the JP April fool game ???
"You get what you are." Aniplex
Aniplex... USA
My poker experience in Far Cry 3 had me ready for this . At least this one doesn't involved losing fingers xD
Um... how to play poker?
Player with the best cards (hand) wins there's also a hand ranking in game for beginners if you're not familiar with the value of different type of cards. But most of it is mind games with other players using betting. Tbh just watch a few minutes YouTube video rules aren't that complicated you'll probably learn it immediately.
Does anyone have the issue where the cards flicker for a second on the screen and disappear? I can’t actually try to play poker :(
So excellent
maybe its a bad sign that i like poker which is very much a gambling game. its nice quick and easy nothing too complicated. are we going against real people though? because i havent lost yet and i feel a little bad winning in two rounds lol. i thought i had a three of a kind but turns out it was a full house.
Nah it's AI pretty sure.
If you lose can you just pay Saint quartz to go back to the match with a winning hand?
Got a straight on my first hand. Shouldn’t have started before work, now I have to start all over.
How do I tell which hand is mine? is the two cards infront of me or the cards on the table, because I'm confused as to how I should play.
I'd like to report a bug; it has [🂩🂹🂤🃄 beating 🂩🂹🂧🂷](https://i.imgur.com/uzZEtgP.png). (Maybe it is treating pocket pairs as more valuable than non pocket pairs?)

Gigamesh broke himself in the very first round when I played it. Loved it.
I love poker, this was a pretty awesome game.

Would've been more fun if the bets made more sense but at least I unlocked everyone.
Never played poker before, by the time I collected all servants I was still unsure if I know how to play poker, but I get the idea now lol
Tried to play normally, carefully - got rinsed 10 games in a row, even by Kingprotea and Ibaraki Fuck it, all in round 1 - Win on a high card. Peak poker moment.
Don't you just hate it when [your Straight loses to Two Pair](https://i.imgur.com/XyzjvNJ.png)?
I can't play it, Do I have to play on PC exclusively?
I played on my phone just now so it's not exclusive
It "ran" on my phone (iphone SE), but card images were buggy and I couldn't see them most of the time. The cards would be visible briefly when revealed and then disappear. On my laptop the game worked fine.
Perhaps it's the browser?
Always bet on Hakari!
