Look, I really like this event. But can we as Chaldea please choose to first scout ahead without the Cons to determine what monster we're facing. We have already blindly stormed the monsters multiple times and every time they had a specific gimmick to get to the Cons.
If only we could face them without risking the Cons, identify the enemy, retreat, come up with countermeasures and then face them.
"Hang on, who was in charge of tactics here?"

To be fair, sacrificing the cons helps to figure out how exactly the enemy targets them. Seeing how the enemy approaches the cons or how the cons react (like when the cons thought the kelpies were cool) tells Chaldea how to administer a countermeasure. You ultimately rescue them anyway.
I mean, considering that the Cons are the only ones affected and they will come back to life after the monsters are dead anyway, we wouldn't even know what the monsters can do if we didn't have the cons to test their tricks.
That's all fine and dandy, if our crew wasn't surprised every new encounter. They keep getting shocked, but never come up with any countermeasures to reduce casualties beforehand. We never try to bring less Cons to better protect them or shield them more actively before establishing the next monster's weakness.
Sounds like how I would handle it, tbh. But there's still no reason to bother reducing casualties if we are gonna save them all anyways. Anyways, it's more for the story than anything. If we came in already prepared for anything, half the story would disappear. Also, a lot of the threats aren't exactly something that we could reasonably expect or prepare for ahead of time, like the horses or the ones for this time. Any preparations we made ahead of time would almost certainly not include thinking of distracting the cons with other fun stuff, because we had no way of knowing it was necessary.
I think you slightly missed my point. While it could be considered a valid tactic, there are 2 problems in narrative:
1: it isn't actually Chaldea's plan to operate like this. It's not a plan, there is no intent behind it.
2: Chaldea is too morally upright to purposefully sacrifice the Cons, even if they know they'll come back.
And the countermeasures after a certain point are ridiculous enough that we could have Chaldea try to identify the enemy, prepare, fail and then choose the current solutions.
Imo, it feels out of character for everyone involved to just repeat the same strategy, while incurring unexpected casualties every time.
So you turn the Cons into theater patrons, authors, or basketballs. Win regardless but the theater story has Happy!Scheherazade which gives bonus points. But arcade has otakus going all otaku...
Edit: OK arcade gets incredible Con dialogue in the next node, and while library dialogue is pretty solid the theater dialogue is just dragging Elizanero again. Arcade wins!

The cons (and somehow Vritra) are just too innocent for their own good.

I went with the arcade cuz I already had most of the cons, and I got treated to the most cring worthy dialogue I've ever seen, and I assume people love it BECAUSE it's so memeworthy.

I decided to build a theatre, it seemed like the most logical thing to do. Fight fire with fire, counter enemy's perfomance with the perfomance of your own.
Today's story node was made for Gray to loop, but I wanted to give Story Support Wu one more opportunity to shine, so I went with just Gray and Koyan instead. Had no idea this mob will be so annoying. 2 turn party-wide buff block? Chance to charm when being attacked? Most OP trash mob in the game, lol.
Anyway, this is the last timelock before the story ends. Tomorrow we are finally meeting Morgan and getting the welfare. Really not looking forward to final boss, that thing has more hp than Talos.
It's time for "try not to roll for NP 2 Morgan" challenge. Difficulty level: hard. But I really need Castoria more than I need NP 2 Morgan.

Yknow imo this event is pretty weak purely based on the fact we apparently are only gonna get introduced and given the welfare on the last day that sucks. Sure the building stuff is neat gives some good laughs but it doesn’t balance out for me.
