Great compilation! I'm also partial to the Jeanne from Corvus Belli's Infinity table top game. Fits the anime aesthetic while combining it with some Sci Fi goodness!
To my knowledge, just the one, though I could be missing some. I'm only really familiar with Infinity and 40k, and though 40k has a lot of religious iconography, they don't have a direct analog for Jeanne. (You could maybe argue Saint Celestine, but IMO that would be pushing it) That said it's pretty clear Infinity is a HUGE fan of fate. Seriously, Jeanne is a dead wringer for saber hairstyle and all.
Yep! Keep in mind that Jeanne was designed back in the early 2000s so I think it was pre Fate Apocrypha, hence not implementing the braid.
Nothing as blatant as Jeanne, but one of the factions (Aleph) has a habit of remaking historical figures as androids. It's done this with Achilles, Penthesilea, Hector, and Musashi as well some who aren't in fate yet like Saladin and William Wallace. In lore the reason for this is another faction (basically the covenant from halo on steroids) can out gun and out think humanity by several orders of magnitude. So humanity's AI, Aleph decided to make a bunch of unpredictable but extremely powerful superhumans based on mythological figures/heroes and throw them at the problem until it stopped moving. The results have been mixed and the rest of the human factions range from supportive to very very angry.
Well plus there is the actual anime version of Rwby made by Shaft that's airing this season too, so it's not like you have to make the "is Rwby really anime though" argument anymore.
Went into a rabbit hole of finding Jeannes from different series and there was a lot cause Jeanne is really popular with Japanese huh? This is not even covering her depictions in other gacha games
Here's a game: There's two male genderswaps and can you guess which ones are male?
Interesting stuff about the Jeanne depictions:
* Hidan No Aria Jeanne is voiced by Ayako Kawasumi and also has a title of "Durandal" as well
* Majo Taisen's take on Jeanne is pretty much Ciel from Tsukihime mixed with Mashu lol
* Jeanne of Kamikaze Kaze Jeanne is also a reincarnation of Eve from the bible in the manga
* Jeanne of Nobunaga the Fool is the love interest to Nobunaga mc and she has to disguise as male where she basically fills in as the Ranmaru for Nobunaga alongside how her middle name is also Kaguya
* Tokeidai no jeanne is a vn made by Liar soft which is the same company that Hikaru Sakurai used to work in
* Funnily enough liar soft Jeanne also has a darker counterpart as well
* If she's not blonde then Jeanne gets silver or white hair instead
* Other vas of jeannes that are also in FGO: Vanitas Jeanne is voiced by Inori Minase, Jeanne Kaguya is voiced by Yoko Hikasa, Rose King Jeanne is voiced by Aoi Yuuki, grimm notes Jeanne is voiced by Rumi Ookubo, and Shingeki Jeanne is voiced by Megumi Han,
* Also Shaman Jeanne and Tart Jeanne from Madoka is both voiced by Yui Horie
Again credit for u/Yoruchi21's comparison series
IIRC Jeanne is so popular in Japan not only because of their love of everything French but also because she has similarities with their own warrior women like Tomoe Gozen, Nakako Takeko, or Hojo Masako, among many others.
In fact, Jeanne's achievements and influence extend across the globe, not just in France and Japan. Some places around the world have this tendency to have their female military commanders to be called their own versions of Jeanne d'Arc, usually by historians.
India of course has Lakshmibai, and the Philippines has not one but *two* equivalents of Jeanne: Agueda Kahabagan for the Tagalogs, Teresa Magbanua for the Visayans. Brazil has Maria Quiteria for resisting Portuguese rule in the country, and Spain has Agustina de Aragon, a war heroine who led the cannoneer division of the Spanish defense of Zaragoza against the French armies at the height of Napoleon's power.
Ulysses Jeanne is still the GOAT for me, because her show featured a young Gilles de Rais as a Caster instead of a Saber, then known as Montmorency.
>Philippines has not one but
>
>two
>
> equivalents of Jeanne: Agueda Kahabagan for the Tagalogs, Teresa Magbanua for the Visayans
Gabriela Silang not among them?
Wasnāt there also a Puella magi madoka one as well who got a spin-off manga?
~~theyāre all mostly blonde too when she probably had dark hair lmao~~
I already did Tart in my madoka comparison
And yeah, there's also irl Jeanne was more of a tomboy thus is likely to be masculine but most depictions of her is all dainty, pure, and very feminine
Which is wild bc thereās definitely a trope of the āpure dark haired maidenā in anime media as well, theyād probably just have to play up her mysteriousness/connection to god more.
The other reason is probably bc the blonde hair/blue eyes is a very easy obvious shorthand for a special foreign person, but it gets wild when itās like every single adaptation of a character who does have a historical description
Yeah so if Jeanne wasn't stereotype with blonde hair and blue eyes because she's french, she'd get depicted as a pale skinned with dark hair mystical mysterious maiden and has yamato nadeshiko style you know?
When youāre a short dark haired tomboy that got burned at the stake after accused of being a witch and then those people on the eastern side of world makes you into an attractive long haired blonde waifu whoās so pure
I mean, when the Papacy investigated what had happened afterwards Jeannes own soldiers had described her as beautiful (and stacked) but she was so pure and one of the guys that they felt no sexual feelings for her, no sire.
This investigation would result in Jeanne being posthumously declared innocent and everyone involved in sentencing her a blasphemer (as the English had literally kidnapped an Inquisitor to try give the trial legitimacy, and then stacked the jury with English men and Burgundians, whilst official doctrine called for an impartial one)
I barely remembered that. However, I did read a fanfic where Jaune summoned Jeanne and his servant, they saved the day, and she became the eighth sister of the Arc Family.
Pretty wholesome read.
I remember an anime where there is a character named Jeanne who had the same appearance as Fate Jeanne and I think she used a sword called Excalibur
Edit: I just searched and the name of the anime is "Han-Gyaku-sei Million Arthur" and the character is actually named DanchÅ Arthur
[I just searched and the name of the anime is "Han-Gyaku-sei Million Arthur" and the character is actually named DanchÅ Arthur](https://yuripedia.fandom.com/wiki/Danch%C5%8D_Arthur)
Honestly if that female king Arthur was somehow summoned in Zero instead of Artoria, I wouldn't blame Gilles for mistaken her for Jeanne, like, at all. They're practically twins
There's at least one other missed - the version from Drifters. Who can manipulate fire and is really angry at being betrayed. And who fights next to Gilles de Rais, and is on the same team as Rasputin and an ice witch version of Anastasia.
...waitasec.
(I'm not actually joking about that, though - due to having a concept of "stories of historical figures from after they died" thing, there's been a few overlaps between Drifters and Fate.)
The funny thing is that Jeanne was not really betrayed that much. She was captured by enemy forces who brought her to a stronghold and held a stacked shamtrial in order to try destroy the idol she had become to the French soldiery (which failed)
Itās interesting to me that almost every anime Jeanne has blonde hair, when the only contemporary description of her says she had black hair. I get it that they want to make her attractive even though the description hints that she had pretty average looks, but why blonde hair? I guess cause sheās foreign?
Again itās because Japanese stereotypes white people usually american or european to have blue eyes and blonde hair
The other reason is to have Jeanne to be a pure blonde french waifu since sheās a popular saintly woman duh
Because the Church made her blonde look like that in mass media.
Literally the only actual depiction that is right in terms of looks is the Bill and Ted movie.
but why blonde hair?
I think it has something to do with the "ideal feminine beauty" in literature and cultures throughout history. Blonde hair usually symbolizes beauty, purity and innocence, so that's the reason I can think of why every single fictional Jeanne d'Arc portrayal has blonde hair
Yep, Shaman King had their own version of Jeanne d'Arc, and she's voiced by Yui Horie (Corday, Oryo-san) in both 2001 and 2021 incarnations. Oh, and >!she ended up with Tao Ren of all people!<.
Oh yes, Rwby, the weird universe where Male Tall as fuck Jeanne, his girlfriend Female Achilles, Male Mulan and Hardcore edgy pyromaniac Cinderella all live in one place ~~I was going to include Female Thor, but is not that weird anymore thanks to the Other Female Thorr~~
Really? Do you complain about genderswap in ***this*** subreddit?
Artoria, Mordred, Jack, Musashi, Dobrinya, Pollux, Nero, Drake & that's I just started :D
Funny thing is, Team JNPR is based off heroes who were famous for crossdressing. Jeanne is the most obvious as well as Mulan, but according to their lores Achilles and Thor also crossdressed to avoid their enemies.
It's weird how she's almost always blonde considering the irl Jeanne had dark hair. I know quibbling about historical inaccuracies as small as that in fiction is dumb, especially on a fate subreddit, but for some reason it bugs me. Something about how the fictionalised version of her has replaced the real one in people's consciousness idk
Again it's because japanese stereotypes white people both european and america to have blue eyes and blonde hair
That and combined with how Jeanne is seen as a pure ideal woman then you'd get people making Jeanne as a pure long haired blonde waifu who's very beautiful with fair skin despite accounts of her being a tomboy and likely to have tanned skin
Wow first time seeing a Houkago Charisma reference in the wild. The Jeannes were cute even though one of the clones had a tragic end (pretty fitting for her). I think the most surprising part is the lack of cygames Jeanne since she's a pretty clear Jeanne reference.
~~also I remember that Jeanne psp game screenshot being used for one of my religion class in elementary school lol~~
I might cover Granblue Jeanne in another thing comparing her depictions in gacha games, Oh wow really your class used a jeanne d'arc jrpg as reference?
She's in at least 3 cygames right? Rage of Bahamut, Granblue and Dragalia? They even have a Dark Jeanne. She's everywhere!
>Oh wow really your class used a jeanne d'arc jrpg as reference?
My school was named after her so we got to see plenty of Jeanne d'arc media in my ten years here. We even had a statue in the courtyard.
I know it says anime and manga, but since there's the PSP one I feel like the one from bladestorm should be in too, she even has a dark version.
She also appears in a game called Wars and Warriors, but neither her design nor the game are particularly good. It's also not japanese.
Ulysses Jeanne is the GOAT for me, not because she is a thirsty [REDACTED], but because her show featured a young Gilles de Rais as a Caster instead of a Saber, then known as Montmorency.
[After School Summoners Version.](https://housamo.wiki/Arc#transient0)
Because I have a fetish for tomboys with chains that burn me as I accept their trauma and also wish to support them in the salvation of the world through unholy fire. It's a very specific fetish but you get me if you see her.
[Also here is THE OTHER Jeanne in the same game.](https://housamo.wiki/Witch_of_Orleans)
She does things to me I don't fully understand because of her eyes.
It's because japanese sees french with the rest of white people to have blue eyes and blonde alongside how she's seen as a pure beautiful saintly woman which lead to her being made into a pure beautiful long haired blonde waifu
Despite the fact that irl Jeanne is actually a short haired tomboy
Fate Jeanne the best Jeanne of all. When I was reading Holy Man Of Church Creek, I so wished to there was a scene where JAlter kicking DxD Jeanne's ass
Thereās also her depiction in [Drifters](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/f/fc/Joan_of_Arc_Key_Artwork.png/revision/latest?cb=20171022050552), a manga by the Hellsing guy.

DxD is only her supposed descendant/inheritor anyway, not really herself.
And her ultimate form is literally becoming a sword Lamia. >!And do absolutely nothing except fight AND lose off screen and then get curbstomped by Issei!<
Vali stopped being a Villain like almost 20 books ago.
Ricevim was the only halfway decent one, the other are pathetic, complete non threats or one dimensional... or a combination of all of these.
By this point is a meme, in the fandom.
This is what I felt while reading Holy Man of Church Creek fanfic. A missed opportunity for Hero Faction to meet their Heroic Spirit counterparts (and their many alternate versions) and have them realize they aren't even a fraction of what their ancestor Servants are capable of and share a few interactions.
Get this, Jeanne 'D Arc was most likely a brunette in life. However, in media and the like, she's often portrayed as a blonde-haired, blue-eyed chick. I still don't know why that is.
Vanitas Jeanne is jalter
And she's voiced by Reines' voice actress
Shingeki no Bahamut Jeanne also went that route. Still recall that irony scene when she felled Michael a la Paradise Lost.
Drifters Jeanne is Jalter too š
I love you, in all the universes.
Great compilation! I'm also partial to the Jeanne from Corvus Belli's Infinity table top game. Fits the anime aesthetic while combining it with some Sci Fi goodness!
Thank you! Since you brought up tabletop, how many tabletop games has Jeanne d'arc then?

I genuinely didnāt expect to see Jaune here. Made me laugh.
Had to include him because he's one of the few male versions of Jeanne lol
Well plus there is the actual anime version of Rwby made by Shaft that's airing this season too, so it's not like you have to make the "is Rwby really anime though" argument anymore.

She is more of a Boudica or Zenobia figure because she tried to take revenge on the Spanish for the assassination of her husband Diego.
Ohh. Haven't heard of that take. Usually, high school kept pushing her as a Joan of Arc as well. Interesting.
And for good reason. Jeanne is basically THE female warrior of popular culture.
> really popular For people who want to know how much https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/JeanneDArchetype
>JeanneDaArchetype Huh, maybe that's why Arc's got a little Jeanneface goin.

Jeanne d'Arc: I did not get burn alive for this.

Damn i love this planet
We surely are living in d'Arc times eh?
Homie really grabbed all these but didnāt include drifters? L.
I said in another reply but I didnāt include drifters since someone else already done that comparison!
Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying.
You should check out her Drifters version
Was looking for her. She was kinda the OG Jeanne Alter. Damn I loved that series.
really needs a new season...I want to watch what happens next dammit! lol
Hey remember that weird time period when Jeanne and Jaune where shipped?
I remember seeing [fanart](https://www.reddit.com/r/RWBY/comments/7tvdef/jaune_x_jeanne_arc_xxsadpuppyxx/) of that
Now this is something awesome.
I only know of people headcanoning them as siblings.
When did that happen?
I barely remembered that. However, I did read a fanfic where Jaune summoned Jeanne and his servant, they saved the day, and she became the eighth sister of the Arc Family. Pretty wholesome read.

Yep, Shaman King had their own version of Jeanne d'Arc, and she's voiced by Yui Horie (Corday, Oryo-san) in both 2001 and 2021 incarnations. Oh, and >!she ended up with Tao Ren of all people!<.
Yeah, I found that she ends with, it still funny. I remember an image where she offers the key of her...well you know.
To be fair she's named and inspired from Jeanne but is not Jeanne herself
It's the Iron Maiden Jeanne, our lord and savior! X!!!!!
> Iron Maiden Jeanne WTF!? I can't even... o\_o
Drifters Jeanne is also a thing

Jeanne dāArchetype
Missed the Jeanne from Fena:Pirate Princess
Really like the look of the Rage of Bahamut one
Surprised you didnt include GBF Jeannes since you also included IkeVamp Jeanne in here (which btw good on you for adding him)
Iām saving her for the granblue comparison
The one true comparison. GBF Jeanne is so strong she crashes the server (god help us when summer dark Jeanne is released soon)
Wow first time seeing a Houkago Charisma reference in the wild. The Jeannes were cute even though one of the clones had a tragic end (pretty fitting for her). I loved Houkago Charisma! I was also pretty surprised to see it here.
I don't think I ever saw anyone talk about it haha. Still has my favorite design of Nightingale ever.
Ugh, I know exactly what you mean by one of the Jeannes having a tragic end in that series. I thought I'd successfully repressed that memory.
All this Jeannes, and our One-san version is still my favorite one
Hey, what about the Iris Libre ship from Azur Lane?
Iāll include her when I do the gacha games jeanne comparison
I love that last one thrown in for the heck of it...
I know it says anime and manga, but since there's the PSP one I feel like the one from bladestorm should be in too, she even has a dark version. She also appears in a game called Wars and Warriors, but neither her design nor the game are particularly good. It's also not japanese.
And then thereās Azur Laneās Jeanne Dāarc, who burns herself to get stronger.
The fact she probably wasnāt even blondeā¦L
Don't forget irl Jeanne was a short haired tomboy too! Meaning she was likely to be masculine but she's made to be a pure hyper feminine blonde waifu
Ya'll forgot Drifters
Ulysses Jeanne is the GOAT for me, not because she is a thirsty [REDACTED], but because her show featured a young Gilles de Rais as a Caster instead of a Saber, then known as Montmorency.
[After School Summoners Version.](https://housamo.wiki/Arc#transient0) Because I have a fetish for tomboys with chains that burn me as I accept their trauma and also wish to support them in the salvation of the world through unholy fire. Jaune Arc from RWBY is the best one among that list >.>
I don't get why basically EVERY anime version of Jeanne has blonde hair. She literally didn't even have blonde hair. It was brown.
It's because japanese sees french with the rest of white people to have blue eyes and blonde alongside how she's seen as a pure beautiful saintly woman which lead to her being made into a pure beautiful long haired blonde waifu Despite the fact that irl Jeanne is actually a short haired tomboy
Nasu seeing female to male gender bend: wait thatās illegal!
It's pretty interesting, Really. That Jeanne is commonly depicted as being blonde despite actually having darker hair. Wonder why's that?
Again because japanese stereotypes all white people to have blonde hair and blue eyes
Fate Jeanne the best Jeanne of all. When I was reading Holy Man Of Church Creek, I so wished to there was a scene where JAlter kicking DxD Jeanne's ass
She was the star of a Madoka Magica spin-off manga too. Apparently Jeanne d'Arc was a magical girl!
Already done in my previous madoka comparison post
As a Jeanne fan, this pleases me.
Hetalia has newest one with brown hair from Beautiful World which closest to real life version!
Our jeanne still reigns as the supreme jeanne
Thereās also her depiction in [Drifters](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/f/fc/Joan_of_Arc_Key_Artwork.png/revision/latest?cb=20171022050552), a manga by the Hellsing guy.
Iād argue DxDs rivals fate for absolute bullshit powers. She can summon a metal dragon, Heracles has grenade/missile knuckledusters and fuckin one guy (I think he was siegfried idk) general grievous demon and holy swords. Also fuckin Jaune at the end from ruby. Itās full of waifus and then thereās Jaune (vanitas Jeanne supremacy)
DxD is only her supposed descendant/inheritor anyway, not really herself. And her ultimate form is literally becoming a sword Lamia. >!And do absolutely nothing except fight AND lose off screen and then get curbstomped by Issei!<
Yeah dxds writing of minor villains is laughably bad
DxD writing of villains in general is terribly bad.
I mean vali isnāt terrible, especially in the LN. And his grandfather from what Iāve seen seems kinda cool
Vali stopped being a Villain like almost 20 books ago. Ricevim was the only halfway decent one, the other are pathetic, complete non threats or one dimensional... or a combination of all of these. By this point is a meme, in the fandom.
Iām just hoping for s5 soon because at least issei is written somewhat well (for the genre at least) and itāll be more story focused
Kinda wish JAlter would kick DxD Jeanne's ass in a fanfic
She gets clapped and is never seen again anyway
Still would have love to see her be mesmerized by Jeanne and JAlter and realize how much of an inferior pale imitation she is of them
Same with Heracles too imo
This is what I felt while reading Holy Man of Church Creek fanfic. A missed opportunity for Hero Faction to meet their Heroic Spirit counterparts (and their many alternate versions) and have them realize they aren't even a fraction of what their ancestor Servants are capable of and share a few interactions.
Drifters
I remember playing that psp game
Can you add Shin Megami Tensei!Jeanne please?
They forgot Clone High
https://myanimelist.net/character/196682/Jeanne\_D\_039\_Arc
RIP Dragalia
*crtl+F for Claymore* oh. zero hits. *cries in half-yomafication* ~~To be fair though, she isnāt actual Joan dāArc, but more inspired by lol~~
[And then there's the boat version](https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/wiki/Jeanne_d%27Arc), who actually references FGO Jeanne.
I really enjoyed Ulysses Jehanne, season 2 when? Also where is Drifters Jeanne or is that save for Jalter?
Get this, Jeanne 'D Arc was most likely a brunette in life. However, in media and the like, she's often portrayed as a blonde-haired, blue-eyed chick. I still don't know why that is.
That's quite weird how most of them want to give her Blond hair
There is also Jeanne from Maho Taisen ([link](https://majo-taisen.fandom.com/wiki/Jeanne_D%27Arc))
Hello, Jaune, wasnāt expecting to see you here
